Book excerpt: Excerpt from Probate Records of the Province of New Hampshire, Vol. 3: 1741-1749 Between the time of Elias Stileman, and Charles Story, who served from about 1700 to 1715, the signatures of three men, who served as Register, appear in the records. That of Thomas -davis, the first of these, appears but once or twice, in 1792 - 3, and of him nothing can be said, nor is there any available information concerning William Redford who served as early as 1694, or earlier, and up to 1697, or Francis Tucker, who was Register from 1697 to 1699, though the latter was probably a descendant of that Richard Tucker who, with George Cleeves, made the first attempt at the settlement of Portland, Maine, in 1633, and removed to Portsmouth about 1653, where he died in 1659, leaving six sons.
