Book excerpt: Garrigou Lagrange begins: "The dangers of modern times are great, and the remedies to which we often have recourse are insufficient. We shall begin, therefore, by saying a few words about the need for greater faith. The poisonous errors in modern life are tending toward a complete dechristianization of society, a dechristianization which began in the sixteenth century with the rebirth of paganism and the reappearance of pagan pride and sensuality among Christians. This turning from Christ advanced another stage under Protestantism, which rejected the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the value of sacramental absolution and confession, the infallibility of the Church and Tradition, her teaching power, and finally, the need for observing the precepts which lead to salvation-four denials which strike at the root of the Christian life. Then the French Revolution with its deism and naturalism lent a hand in the dechristianization of society: God, if He exists, is interested only in a universal ordering of things and not in individual people. Sin, therefore, is not an offense against God, but only an offense against reason which is constantly evolving. Stealing, for example, was a sin so long as the right of private property was admitted; but if, as communists hold, private property is an injustice against the community, then private property itself becomes a theft. This spirit of revolution led naturally to liberalism, which tried to steer a middle course between the teaching of the Church and modem errors. But liberalism could reach no definite conclusions: it neither affirmed nor denied, but always made distinctions; and discussions dragged on because it could not solve difficulties which were springing from a denial of the principles of Christianity. Liberalism failed to provide a norm of conduct and it gave way to radicalism, which was even more opposed to the Church. Because it did not like the word "anti-Christian" it called itself '4 anticlerical." That is typical of freemasonry. But radicalism led to socialism and socialism to atheistic and materialistic communism, as found in Russia today. Attempts were made to spread communism in Spain and other countries also, and to reject religion, private property, the family, the idea of a fatherland, and reduce human life to economics, as if we had no soul, and as if religion, science, art, and rights were the invention of those who wished to keep others in subjection and, in the name of private property, possess everything themselves. The only effective opponent of materialistic communism is the Catholic Church, because only true Christianity, or Catholicism, contains the truth without any mixture of error.

Book excerpt: The writer of the Book of Hebrews takes everything the Jew of his day held dear and compares it to Christ. Needless to say, it is all found shamefully wanting. The thing that was perhaps the dearest to these Hebrews was the Old Testament priesthood, which included the Temple, its sacrifices, and the priests in all their glory. The writer of Hebrews shows Christ to be a better Priest, His sacrifice to be supreme, and the place where He renders His services to be the greatest. He shows the Priesthood ministry of Jesus to be flawless and a perfect alternative to a worn-out system that could never meet the needs of mankind. You will find The Perfect Priest refreshing and enlightening as well as inspiring.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believers know that when we die we enter heaven and will spend eternity there with God and the saints who have gone before us. But what actually happens in heaven? What are we going to be doing there? Won't it get boring at some point? According to Scripture, a large part of our experience of heaven will be a continual revealing of God's glory. Not just his glory in the moment, but during all of time. The mysteries of providence, the hidden movements of God throughout history, and the forgotten and unnoted works of even the most obscure of God's people will be unveiled so that we can see how wise, loving, gracious, and powerful our God is. And though we will experience perfection in heaven, we will never be omniscient, which means we will always be learning more about God's glory, inspiring us to return joyful praise and thanksgiving. If your vision of heaven has been limited to clouds and harps and angels, it's time to expand that view with the truth found in this biblically based look at the afterlife.

Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered Why Were You Created? Or asked, what is God's Plan and Purpose for my life?King David asked an intriguing question, What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him? (Psalm 8:4)Although it may seem like God's intended plan failed when the world civilization spun out of control riddled with chaos, God's Strategic Plan and Purpose are being fulfilled. In this book, I'll demonstrate how God planned for every event that appeared to derail His plans and how He has strategically positioned people, angels, and other divine beings to ensure the fulfillment of His plan for mankind. A man so splendorous that all of creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. (Romans 8:19)With such a divine plan, imagine the complexity of trying to reproduce a living being that resembled Him. What would such a living being look like? How can you possibly develop a man that had the characteristic of God?Throughout the scriptures, hidden in illustrations such as the Tabernacle of Moses and the priesthood model, the LORD provided a physical copy and shadow of His heavenly plans written in the books of heaven. (Psalm 139:16)When we observe the priesthood process, the Tabernacle, and its furnishings, we'll discover that God concealed mysteries of the Priesthood Perfection. God's ultimate plan was to make sons in His image and likeness as kings and priests according to the order of Melchizedek. The reason that the LORD told Moses, see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain, was so that it would function as a testimony of the LORD's ultimate intention, making sons in the "fullness of priesthood perfection," which in the fullness of the measure of the stature of Christ, our High Priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek. (Exodus 25:40, Hebrews 8:5, Ephesians 4:13, Psalm 110:4)BOOK TABLE OF CONTENT: Chapter 1: Let Us MAKE Man - (The Strategic Plan)Tutors and GovernorsThe Fivefold MinistryAngelic Guidance7 Spirits of the LORDChapter 2: A Son is Given - (The Pattern Son)What is Man?The Pattern Son SummaryChapter 3: A Priest Forever - (The Purpose)The Significance of MelchizedekPriesthood (ministry) QualificationsTabernacle Pattern and Priesthood Hidden MeaningsChapter 4: A Renewed Perspective - (The Process)The Light Within You (good or bad)Teachings and Traditions of PhariseesGuard Your HeartThe Power of SeeingChapter 5: Arise and Shine - (The Manifestation)Initiating the Process Towards ManifestationBOOK BACK COVER DESCRIPTION: The Lord has sworn and will not relent, "You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek." (Psalm 110:4)Consider how great Melchizedek must be, that Christ would be a priest forever, according to his order. Since Jesus is a priest forever, and man is coming to the stature of Christ, it explains why Peter called us a Royal Priesthood. (Ephesians 4:13, 1 Peter 2:9)But what is a Royal Priesthood, and what is God's Plan, Purpose, and Process for making us kings and priests to God Most High?In "Why Were You Created?" - Jose J. Sanchez will introduce God's strategy and purpose for a kingdom of priests, according to the order of Melchizedek.Hidden within the priesthood and tabernacle furnishings, are mysteries of the Priesthood Perfection. Which is why God instructed Moses, see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain. (Exodus 25:40)For within these patterns His intentions are hidden, the making of sons in the "fullness of Priesthood Perfection," which in the fullness of the measure of the stature of Christ, our High Priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 8:5, Ephesians 4:1

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: None of the Fathers of the early church is better known or loved than St John Chrysostom, and none of his works is more popular than On the Priesthood. Its stylistic brilliance demonstrates the appropriateness of St John's enduring title, "the golden-mouthed." Yet the rhetorical eloquence of the work is not simply camouflage for lack of substance. As Graham Neville observes in his Introduction, Chrysostom "had a mind both practical and idealistic, that brought into close connection the evils and injustices of the world and the perfection of moral life demanded by the gospel." Chrysostom's unique gift for linking concrete observation and theological vision is nowhere more evident than in On the Priesthood. Its presence helps to account for the work's power to inspire and challenge Christians in all ages. Book jacket.
