Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome back to the White Sandy, where the cowboys are the Indians, but they also drive pickup trucks, have cell phones and occasionally advanced degrees. Change is coming to the White Sandy reservation--will the men of the Lakota tribe find their place in this new world with their women by their sides? The Medicine Man: The White Sandy Reservation needs a doctor, and Madeline Mitchell needs to do a little good in the world. It seems like a perfect fit, until she meets the medicine man, Rebel Runs Fast. As far as Madeline can tell, Rebel's sole mission is to convince her patients that modern medicine can't help them. And the fact that he makes her heart race every time he looks at her only irritates her more. Rebel swore off the white man's world—and women—years ago. But he's never met a woman like Dr. Mitchell. She doesn't speak the language, understand the customs, or believe he's anything more than a charlatan—but she stays, determined to help his people. He tries to convince himself that his tribe doesn't need her, but when patients start getting sick with strange symptoms, he realizes that he needs her more than ever. Originally published as Mystic Cowboy (2013): The Rancher: Mary Beth is the kind of woman who wishes she had a five-second delay on her mouth. The swath of verbal destruction she leaves is why she goes west to start over. But any resolve to hold her tongue is lost immediately when she meets Jacob, a Lakota cowboy who says next to nothing – especially about the black leather mask that covers half his face. Jacob’s silence is his armor in a white man’s world, but even that isn’t enough to protect him—or the mute girl he guards—from forces he can’t control. Fascinated by the masked cowboy and drawn to defend the girl, Mary Beth finds herself in the middle of a decades-old power struggle that only she could talk her way out of. Originally published as Masked Cowboy (2013) The Shadow: Nobody Bodine is a nobody who came from a nobody and will always be a nobody. He disappears into the shadows—no one sees him if he doesn’t want them to. He exists in neither the white man’s world nor the tribe’s, dispensing vigilante justice when he sees fit. Until Melonie Mitchell shows up on the rez. From the first moment he lays eyes on her, he can tell there’s something different about her. For the first time in his life, Nobody feels like a somebody in her eyes. Melonie has come west to run the new day care on the White Sandy Reservation. When she discovers that Nobody a self-appointed guardian angel for the boy in her care, she’s intrigued. But how far will he go to keep the boy safe? And will she be able to draw him into the light? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is chiefly through books that we enjoy intercourse with superior minds. In the best books, great men talk to us, give us their most precious thoughts, and pour their souls into ours. God be thanked for books. They are the voices of the distant and the dead, and make us heirs of the spiritual life of past ages. Books are true levelers. They give to all who will faithfully use them, the spiritual presence of the best and greatest of our race. William Ellery Channing Some of the things you will discover in Felimanuel Series, The Magical Secret to Success in English Language, Essay Writing for Junior and Senior High Schools Volume 1, With Bonus Success Secrets: The book is comprehensively, logically and coherently written and the language used is also easy to understand; hence, little or no further explanation is needed. The book teaches how to choose examination questions and answer them without sweat. Sample outlines/plans and sample essays have been written to guide pupils and students. The bonus success secrets will help pupils and students to pass in all seemingly difficult subjects like mathematics and science. The bonus success secrets will also guide pupils and students towards the attainment of greater success in life. The book has been designed in such a way that it can be used for examination purposes and for other practical uses in the day-to-day life of whoever uses it faithfully. In writing this book on English Language, essay writing, I decided to move away from the traditional way of some authors flooding their English Language, essay writing books with so many sample essays based on my experiences as an English teacher some years back. Many pupils / students have the habit of memorizing written essays found in books and reproduce them during examinations, class exercises or when given project/home work when they see that the question being asked is similar to the answered one they came across. I hope the experts in the educational sector will agree with me that this does not augur well for the proper development of the child because he/she would not have the opportunity to think and plan on his /her own before writing a script with originality (I stand to be corrected if I am mistaken). It is in line with this that I have given only single sample essays per essay topic treated with more suggested outlines/plans. Most people often fail to plan their lives and this usually have disastrous effects on them. Also in writing examination, most candidates fail to plan their essays before answering selected questions. As the old adage says, If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. It is based on the above that in writing this book, I dedicated the first chapter to the basics of essay writing. Below is an excerpt of chapter one of the book. After high lighting on the basics of essay writing, I went ahead to discuss what paragraphs are and how they can be used in our daily writings. This is followed by the use of punctuation marks. Here again, I have given a comprehensive write-up as to how punctuation marks can be used to enrich our written works. Other topics covered in the book are writing of narrative essays, descriptive essays, friendly letters, semi- formal letters, summary writing, argumentative essays, speeches and talks, report writing, articles for publication, expository essays and advertisement. After a comprehensive, logical and coherent treatment of each topic, I followed up with sample questions, outlines/plans and essays. These are only to serve as a guide to users of the book. I will like to take this opportunity to entreat teachers to encourage pupils /students whom they teach to learn how to write an outline/plan and to use it when answering essay related questions, not only with English language, but with all other subjects that they deem it fit to apply. Some people may not see the usefulness of the outline/plan, but it helps the pupil / stude

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the spirit of Ludolph of Saxony (c. 1295-1378) and Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), The Fourfold Gospel invites the reader into the mystery of God's redemption in Jesus Christ. All the parallel passages in the Gospels are glossed together, along with the unique material, using a medieval interpretive approach called the Quadriga or the acronym PaRDeS in Hebrew. Meditating on the literal, canonical, moral, and theological senses of Scripture offers a scaffolding for the spiritual formation of the reader. This volume, in addition to a thorough introduction to the method and the Gospels, focuses on the beginning of the story--the birth, baptism, and temptations of Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "O Blessed Confidence, O Safe Refuge, Mother of God and Our Mother!" St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109), Doctor of the Church"What is not generally known and only infrequently studied is the role of Our Lady over the centuries as a catechist: teacher of the faith, in a very real sense, primary teacher because she is Mother of God and Mother of the Church and faithful If any one factor might be singled out for the very high level of faith and religious practice in medieval 'merry England' (merry, because Mary's dowry, because consecrated to Mary as her possession and property) it is this Marian catechesis. Only when England deliberately rejected Mary did it cease to be the happy place it once was. Unfortunately, English colonization of other peoples took place only after the repudiation of Mary by England. That is why this catechetical work is especially valuable for the faithful and those who are seeking faith in America and other English speaking cultures. It will bring to their attention precisely what is central to catechetics and so often missing, the presence of Mary, Mother and Teacher. It will make perfectly clear why we need not fewer Marian sanctuaries, but many, many more in all parts of the country where this quiet, but so real and profound influence of the Marian principle of the Church will be felt at every level. It is my prayer and hope that those who read and study this work will find the same inspiration and stimulus that I found in having the privilege to read the manuscript before publication. We are much indebted to Brother Anthony Josemaria Pasquale, a Franciscan Tertiary of the Immaculate and gifted scholar, for the effort he has expended to find qualified contributors and to offer so well edited a book to the general public." -From the Foreword by Father Peter M. Fehlner, FI, theologian, sponsor of the International Symposium on Marian Coredemption

The fi rst war was waged by Ari the father of all lions. He, his fi ve sons and their forces fought a long victorious fi erce battle against the Dragons, but this war sadly brought Ari’s end as well. After the many wars fought against these beasts known as the Nungeda, dragons of the ancient world, their Emperor eventually retreated with his forces back to the Ice Mountains of Hursagam, hibernating, growing in numbers and preparing for their return centuries later to decimate all life upon planet earth. Over fi ve Millennia has past’s since their defeat and the fi rst of the caller’s appear during the age of man in the personage of the lion Darius. Darius is the fi rst of the foretold Diyeen, the one who despite overwhelming Odds, fi ght in the way of his creator and purpose. Will he bring hope back to lion kind and will his presence with the aid of the Nuru bring victory over the Nungeda who vows a triumphant return? This you will gage for yourself within these pages of the Temple of the Lion – The Darius Chronicles. The fi rst installment of a trilogy detailing the role lions once played in a past that has escaped the historical annals of earth’s shrouded history.

This book was released on 2017-11-24 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This initial volume of the Collected Works of Edith Stein offers, for the first time in English, the unabridged biography of Edith Stein (Teresa Benedicta of the Cross), depicting her life as a child and young adult. Her text ends abruptly because the Nazi SS arrested, then deported, her to the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942. The ebook version contains a fully linked Index, Map and List of Places. Edith Stein is one of the most significant German-Jewish women of the 20th century. At the age of twenty-five she became the first assistant to Edmund Husserl, the founder of Phenomenology. She was much in demand as a writer and lecturer after her conversion from atheism to Catholicism. Later, as a Discalced Carmelite nun, she maintained her intellectual pursuits until she, like so many others, became a victim of the Nazi persecution that raged across Eastern Europe. By making this landmark work available in English, the Institute of Carmelite Studies provides an eye-witness account of persons and activities on the scene at the time when psychology and philosophy became separate disciplines. In addition to photographs and a map, this volume is enhanced with a preface, the foreword and afterword, notes, and a list of places associated with Edith Stein’s life. It is our aim that these, together with Edith Stein’s text, may help bring into relief the many background details of the rich autobiographical work she has left us. **Chosen "Best Spirituality Book of 1986" by the Catholic Press Association**

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With this new lectionary commentary series, Westminster John Knox offers the most extensive resource for preaching on the market today. When complete, the twelve volumes of the series will cover all the Sundays in the three-year lectionary cycle, along with movable occasions, such as Christmas Day, Epiphany, Holy Week, and All Saints' Day. For each lectionary text, preachers will find four brief essays--one each on the theological, pastoral, exegetical, and homiletical challenges of the text. This gives preachers sixteen different approaches to the proclaimation of the Word on any given occasion. The editors and contributors to this series are world-class scholars, pastors, and writers representing a variety of denominations and traditions. And while the twelve volumes of the series will follow the pattern of the Revised Common Lectionary, each volume will contain an index of biblical passages so that nonlectionary preachers, as well as teachers and students, may make use of its content.
