Download or read book Storm Water Management for Construction Activities written by US EPA and published by CRC-Press. This book was released on 1993-06-28 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide shows you how to develop and implement a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan specifically designed for your construction site. It should answer any questions you have regarding the NPDES General Permit for Storm Water Discharges from Construction Activities that are classified as "Associated with Industrial Activity" (referred to as EPA's Baseline Construction General Permit). Step-by-step guidelines and checklists walk you through the process of setting up your plan, which makes the book invaluable for consultants, regulators, and construction managers and engineers.
Book Synopsis Lowimpact development an integrated design approach by :
Download or read book Lowimpact development an integrated design approach written by and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2017 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis investigates sustainable storm water management in an alpine case study in the eastern part of Innsbruck. Firstly the focus lies on the ecological properties of concepts such as Low Impact Development (LID), Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) and Blue-Green Infrastructure (BGI) especially with regard to the site conditions in the study area. Through a literature research no specific impediments which would hinder an potential implementation could be detected. However there are still general obstacles that discourage a more intensive utilization. In the practical part the Urban Biophysical Environments & Technologies Simulator (UrbanBEATS), a dedicated software for the planning of sustainable storm water management, is used to detect suitable types and locations for the elements of sustainable storm water management in the study area. In a further step the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is applied in order to assess the hydrological performance in quantitative terms. The performance during five different storm events are recorded and show a peak runoff reduction up to 4.26% in the total system, a peak fooding reduction up to 20.28% and a fooding volume reduction up to 17.49%.

Download or read book Stormwater Design for Sustainable Development written by Ronald L. Rossmiller and published by McGraw Hill Professional. This book was released on 2013-12-06 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MANAGE STORMWATER RUNOFF THROUGH SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT Stormwater Design for Sustainable Development presents an integrated approach to controlling stormwater runoff quantity and quality. With a focus on low-impact development, the book describes how to incorporate existing topography and drainage channels, curvilinear street layout, building locations, utilities, and proven best management practices, blending them all into a pleasing whole. The results, as shown by designs and calculations in several appendices, are developments for various land uses that are attractive, safe, affordable, sustainable, and economical to construct and maintain. They allow developers to use 100 percent of the sites for profitable construction, leading to developments that are community assets. This practical guide explains how to determine allowable water depths; develop inflow hydrographs for various components of a development; estimate storage volumes for above, surface, and underground locations; calculate outflow structure hydraulics for numerous types of facilities; and calculate routing curves and hydrograph routing. Real-world examples, calculations, and design plans are contained in this valuable resource. COVERAGE INCLUDES: Low-impact developments Triple bottom line (people, planet, profit) Coving and curvilinear streets Planning Types of best management practices Precipitation Drainage area estimation Time of concentration estimation Design steps Allowable depths Depth-storage relationships Inflow hydrographs Basic hydraulics Culvert hydraulics Riser structure design Hydrograph routing Several design examples

Download or read book Conservation Design for Stormwater Management written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of this manual is to provide guidance for site design which incorporates conservation into land development. The intent is to provide an incentive for land developers to retain and incorporate natural site features into the site development process and thereby reduce or eliminate the need for structurel stormwater management controls.
Download or read book Low Impact Development written by and published by . This book was released on 2010-07-01 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The manual introduces general audiences to designing landscapes for urban stormwater runoff -- a primary source of watershed pollution. The goal is to motivate awareness and implementation of LID in a wide cross-section of stakeholders, from property owners to municipal governments that regulate infrastructure development. The manual provides a holistic framework in which a novice homeowner and an experienced developer can each find an equally tranformative role to enact.
