Download or read book Separation of Flow written by Paul K. Chang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 800 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interdisciplinary and Advanced Topics in Science and Engineering, Volume 3: Separation of Flow presents the problem of the separation of fluid flow. This book provides information covering the fields of basic physical processes, analyses, and experiments concerning flow separation. Organized into 12 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the flow separation on the body surface as discusses in various classical examples. This text then examines the analytical and experimental results of the laminar boundary layer of steady, two-dimensional flows in the subsonic speed range. Other chapters consider the study of flow separation on the two-dimensional body, flow separation on three-dimensional body shape and particularly on bodies of revolution. This book discusses as well the analytical solutions of the unsteady flow separation. The final chapter deals with the purpose of separation flow control to raise efficiency or to enhance the performance of vehicles and fluid machineries involving various engineering applications. This book is a valuable resource for engineers.

Download or read book Two-Dimensional Separated Flows written by S. M. Belotserkovsky and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-11-30 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two-Dimensional Separated Flows provides a systematic presentation of the theory of separated flow around bodies. The main classes of aerodynamic problems of plane-parallel flow around bodies are described, and the steady aerodynamic, unsteady aerodynamic, and statistical characteristics of a trailing wake are determined. Numerical methods based on the synthesis of models for non-viscous incompressible flow and boundary layer, algorithms, examples, and systematic comparisons are presented. The book also includes numerical results for the problem of separated flow around fixed, oscillating, and rotating cylinders, in addition to results for separated flow around an aerofoil over a wide range of angles. Two-Dimensional Separated Flows will benefit researchers and students studying aerodynamics, aircraft dynamics, aeroelasticity, and the aerodynamics of building structures.

Book Synopsis Prediction of Transitory Stall in Two-dimensional Diffusers by : S. Ghose
Download or read book Prediction of Transitory Stall in Two-dimensional Diffusers written by S. Ghose and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computer program has been developed that predicts the performance of diffusers operating in the transitory stall region, including the region of optimum recovery at fixed length. Results agree with data to the uncertainty in existing data. The important changes in method that underlie this advance are two: (i) simultaneous calculation of the outer flow and the separating layer which eliminates singular behavior in the zone of flow detachment; (ii) an improved boundary layer method that adequately approximates backflows near the wall and also represents both attached and free shear layers with good accuracy; the method employs Bradshaw's entrainment-shear miximum correlation, which is shown to hold over an extended range of flow conditions. Comparisons of the boundary layer scheme with the data of the 1968 Conference on Computation of Turbulent Boundary Layers and with the separating flow data of Strickland and Simpson both show good agreement in H, delta(*), C sub f/2. Book Synopsis Technical Evaluation Report on the Fluid Dynamics Panel Symposium on Flow Separation by : David J. Peake
Download or read book Technical Evaluation Report on the Fluid Dynamics Panel Symposium on Flow Separation written by David J. Peake and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current knowledge and understanding of the fluid physics of 2D and 3D flow separation and reattachment, particularly for turbulent flows, is limited. It is necessary that high quality, carefully planned 2D and 3D boundary layer experiments be conducted to obrain dependable experimental data to enhance our basic knowledge, and for use in verification, validation and development of theoretical prediction methods. These complete, unambiguous data sets should include detailed documentation of all measurable quantities, both mean and fluctuating, at the wall, in the viscous boundary layer and in the external flowfield. Emphasis should be placed on redundant measurement techniques to ensure high data reliability. (Author).

Book Synopsis A Method for Calculation of a Fully Stalled Flow by : R. L. Woolley
Download or read book A Method for Calculation of a Fully Stalled Flow written by R. L. Woolley and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An interacting zone method of calculation is developed for predicting stalled turbulent flows which are nominally two-dimensional, incompressible, and steady. The total problem is divided into zones selected such that each can be represented by a manageable analytical model. When applied to the case of the fully stalled diffuser, adequate a priori predictions are achieved with careful handling. Predictions show a strong sensitivity to location of separation -- as does the actual diffuser. This suggests specific further consideration of analytical models for the zone near separation. Given improved modeling of conditions in the vicinity of separation, even more accurate predictions of the primary flow characteristics are highly likely. (Modified author abstract).
Download or read book Internal Flow written by E. M. Greitzer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2007-02-26 with total page 739 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the analysis and behaviour of internal flows encountered in propulsion systems, fluid machinery (compressors, turbines and pumps) and ducts (diffusers, nozzles and combustion chambers). The focus is on phenomena that are important in setting the performance of a broad range of fluid devices. The authors show that even for complex processes one can learn a great deal about the behaviour of such devices from a clear understanding and rigorous use of basic principles. Throughout the book they illustrate theoretical principles by reference to technological applications. The strong emphasis on fundamentals, however, means that the ideas presented can be applied beyond internal flow to other types of fluid motion. The book equips students and practising engineers with a range of new analytical tools. These tools offer enhanced interpretation and application of both experimental measurements and the computational procedures that characterize modern fluids engineering.
