Book excerpt: Do you know anyone who has questions about whether they are traveling the road to heaven or hell? Maybe you are searching for the answer to that question. Which road are you on? Is the roadway filled with potholes? Are the lanes uneven? Are there street signs leading you in the right direction to your destination? So many choices, so little time, which to choose? Predestined to Hell? investigates the two roads, identifying the warning signs on the road to hell and confirming the street signs on the road to heaven. In Part One-Our Identity, we explore the two types of people living on the earth and identify the enemies of God. Next, we discuss whether there is really a hell. Then, we ask the question: Who is Jesus Christ? In Part Two-In Christ Alone by Faith Alone, we declare that Jesus Christ is God our Savior then answer two challenging questions, Condemned? Why God? Finally, but most importantly, we pronounce that there is hope in Jesus and reveal the evidence of saving faith. Look inside, as the answer to the questions above and much more are discussed and explained in detail. Are you a Christian but struggle to witness and fully explain the gospel? Then hand them this book. The path to salvation is clearly presented. Keep a copy handy to help you explain the gospel the next time the Holy Spirit prompts you to witness, while building up your most holy faith. Predestined to Hell? was written to help equip the Church with an evangelistic witnessing tool. Filled with the sword of the word of God and free from human opinions, Predestined to Hell? will encourage the believer while educating and convicting the unbeliever by the power of the Holy Spirit. Larger than a typical track yet small enough to hand out to family members, friends, neighbors, church family, and strangers, Predestined to Hell? is perfect for distribution at campus crusades, street evangelism, youth and prison ministries, and on the missionary fields. This book is easy to read, succinct, Christ-focused, and with a salvation-centric message. Let's win souls together for the Kingdom of God by taking the gospel to the entire world, all to the glory and honor of our Great God, Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ the King of Glory! Amen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title offers an introduction for students and lay readers to doing theology in the Lutheran tradition. Lutheran theology found its source, and so its name in Martin Luther in the 16th century. The theology that emerged identified two essential matters for the relationship between humans and God, the law and the gospel. It made a simple but extremely unusual and controversial claim - that it was not the law that made a person right before God's final judgment, but the gospel of Christ's death on the cross for sinners. This book will lay out the implications of having all theology, and so all that can be said of God, humans and creation confessed and delivered in two parts: I, the sinner; and God, the justifier. Doing Theology introduces the major Christian traditions and their way of theological reflection. These volumes focus on the origins of a particular theological tradition, its foundations, key concepts, eminent thinkers and historical development. The series is aimed readers who want to learn more about their own theological heritage and identity: theology undergraduates, students in ministerial training and church study groups.

Book excerpt: Predestination--the idea that God foreordains one's eternal destiny--is one of the most fascinating and controversial doctrines in Christianity. In this groundbreaking history, the first of its kind, Peter Thuesen shows that the debate over predestination is inseparable from other central Christian beliefs and practices--the efficacy of the sacraments, the existence of purgatory and hell, the extent of God's providential involvement in human affairs--and has fueled theological conflicts across denominations for centuries. The book ranges from New England Puritans to today's megachurches.

Book excerpt: Central to God’s character is the quality of holiness. Yet, even so, most people are hard-pressed to define what God’s holiness precisely is. Many preachers today avoid the topic altogether because people today don’t quite know what to do with words like “awe” or “fear.” R. C. Sproul, in this classic work, puts the holiness of God in its proper and central place in the Christian life. He paints an awe-inspiring vision of God that encourages Christian to become holy just as God is holy. Once you encounter the holiness of God, your life will never be the same.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maness asks us to tie up our sneakers, for we are going to have some fun as we hike into the Grand Canyon of Love. Love is the treasure of life. It is Love all the way. Nothing else really matters outside of Love. Best of all, our Love will only get better in heaven. The treasured ability to have loving relationships is Gods gift to us in our Imago Deithe image of God we all share. Likewise, what we know of Love this side of heaven is but a dusty image of what God experiences. I want to get personally involved, says Maness. Can we have a free-will relationship with anyone, even God, if all of what we do and think is settled? I dont think so. Love is greater than that, and I shall prove that, and that is indeed a Grand Canyon. Manes brings some of the brain-splitting complexities of this to light with good humor, introduces dynamic foreknowledge, and challenges Classical Theisms avoidance of Love. And he exposes some foul play in the process. Thats the first half of the book. For those wanting to strike out on their own (wanting to see more of the depth and diversity of the Grand Canyon), the second half contains reviews of about 60 major authors, a 4,000+ Abysmal Bibliography, and a huge index to just about everything in the book. Maness has thrown a gauntlet before the Classical Theists. So tie up your sneakers and take a hike with Michael G. Maness as he walks with you into the Grand Canyon. see more at www.PreciousHeart.net

Concise, unflinching and compelling answers to literally thousands of questions regarding the teaching of the Catholic Church. Fathers Rumble (a former Protestant) and Carty have created an indispensable resource for anyone looking to explain the truth of Catholicism to curious non-Catholics. Rev. Dr. Leslie Rumble, M.S.C. was the host of a popular weekly radio show in Australia called “Question Box.” Starting in 1928, he spent five years on air answering questions about faith, religion, and morality from the Catholic perspective. He challenged his audience to challenge him with their hard questions about the Catholic Church. If the Church is to be abused and treated like a criminal, then “she has a right to be heard,” he said. Out of this was born the first edition of “Radio Replies,” published in Australia. Rev. Charles Mortimer Carty was a ‘street preacher’ and host of “Catholic Radio Hour,” broadcast out of St. Paul, Minnesota. “I realized that this priest in Australia was doing exactly the same work I was doing here in St. Paul,” wrote Fr. Carty. And so began a publishing collaboration that led to the phenomenally popular American edition of “Radio Replies,” two subsequent volumes, and over a dozen other publications defending Catholic teaching. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of predestination has been an essential topic in theology and philosophy since at least the time of St. Augustine, and is notoriously among the most contentious of religious doctrines. Many people of faith have found the belief that God destines them for eternal joy a source of great comfort, but many others have found it deeply troubling. Above all, those who reject predestination have been motivated by concerns about the doctrine's implications for human free will and divine responsibility for evil. Couenhoven addresses these issues by taking up two important questions: “What does predestination actually imply?”, and “How have great theologians defended their doctrines of predestination?” He answers these queries by analyzing why Augustine, Anselm, Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, and Barth found the doctrine attractive, and explaining the different ways in which they combined belief in predestination, freedom, and God's goodness. The book concludes with a constructive chapter in which Couenhoven defends predestination as a doctrine of hope.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A life application exegesis of a book of the Bible is different and often hard to find, especially of one of the Epistles. Life application is not a historical document, nor is it a purely theological writing. It is the taking of the Word of God and applying to the daily life of the believer in order that the Christian may “live Christ” in his walk so that those around him may see God “lived out” and thus come to know him. As the believer becomes more adept at doing this, the Holy Spirit will be able to place that believer in more and more circumstances where he can use the believer, often without the believer even knowing that he is being used. It becomes natural to the believer. Jesus puts it this way. He said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.” All we have to do is hang in there. Jesus does the rest through his Holy Spirit. That is what life-application exegesis is all about. It is about living experiences of life with Christ so we may learn what Jesus wants to do in our lives to touch others. Just think—Jesus wants to use us to touch others. Blows your mind, doesn’t it?

It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn’t create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God, but rather paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans. We choose God because he has opened our eyes to see his beauty; we love him because he first loved us. There is mystery in God’s ways, but not contradiction.

Going a step further, have you considered whether you have any reputation in hell? Are you living the kind of life that causes a threat to Satan’s interests? That’s how you become famous in hell. It’s time to stop valuing your reputation with people more than your reputation with God. Start living your life with eternity in mind. Respected theologian and author R. T. Kendall has written this book to help you discover the keys to living a life that truly pleases God, making you not only popular in heaven, but also famous in hell.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is nothing redundant in God’s Word. Men write books and very frequently pad them in order to give quantity as well as quality, but there is nothing like that in the Bible. God’s words are tried—“as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times”—and therefore we may well give our most careful attention to every item and every expression used. What is the outstanding theme of the Epistle to the Ephesians? It opens up the truth of the privileges and responsibilities of the church as the body and bride of Christ. It brings before us our position as believers who have been quickened, raised, and seated in Christ in heavenly places. There are very remarkable similarities between certain Old Testament books and New Testament Epistles. The Epistle to the Romans, for instance, corresponds to the book of Exodus; the letter to the Hebrews is the counterpart of Leviticus; and the Epistle to the Ephesians is the New Testament book of Joshua. In Joshua we have the people of Israel entering the possession of their inheritance. In Ephesians believers are called to enter now by faith into the possession of that inheritance which eventually we shall enjoy in all its fullness. We are far richer than we realize. All things are ours, and yet how little we appropriate! It is said in the prophecy of Obadiah that when the Lord returns and His kingdom is established, the people of Israel shall “possess their possessions.” This is a challenge to us. Do you possess your possessions? Or are your heavenly estates like castles in Spain about which you dream, but never really possess? I trust the Spirit of God may lead us into the present enjoyment of our inheritance in Christ. For our purpose the Epistle may be divided very simply, without breaking it up into many portions that would be difficult to carry in our memories. We shall divide it into two parts, the first three chapters giving us the doctrine, and the last three, the practical outcome; the first division gives us our inheritance, and the last, the behavior that should characterize those who are so richly blessed. Often that is the divine order of Scripture: instruction in the truth first, practice in accordance with the truth afterwards. H.A.I
