CHAPTERS: 1: Expressions & Integers 2: Equations & Inequalities 3: Decimals & Factors 4: Fractions 5: Ratios, Proportions, & Percents 6: Geometry 7: Area & Volume 8: Statistics & Probability 9: Formulas & Finance 10: Intro to Algebra Math doodle notes activate both hemispheres of the brain and lead to increased focus and retention! Because of dual coding theory, the student brain can process the new content more easily through the interactive tasks, visual memory triggers, and opportunities to sketch, color, and embellish! This book contains interactive visual note templates. It replaces a notebook (and possibly a textbook, depending on the way you teach), but does not replace your practice problem set. Although the pages do offer some examples and problems, you will definitely want to supplement with plenty of practice / homework on the side as well. TEACHER REVIEWS: "I could not believe the increase in engagement and understanding my students demonstrated! We love these!" "Perfect for students with Dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning disabilities." "My 8th grade summer school who are mostly boys loved coloring the notes. I'm pleasantly surprised! "Doodling helps my daughter's stress level during math lessons!" "Keeps them extremely focused!" "My students absolutely love the doodle notes, and they feel like they retain more information." "The color coding helps them to make connections." "My students and I are loving the doodle notes. They can't believe that I am telling them that they have to doodle. Download or read book Prealgebra written by Robert Prior and published by Pearson. This book was released on 2008-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like many instructors today, Bob Prior's teaching has evolved in recent years to address major changes in the world of developmental math: the class format, the classroom itself, the teachers, and most importantly, the students. Bob teaches in a variety of formats (online, face-to-face, hybrid). He sees some students in class regularly and in office hours, while he knows other students only by name and email address. Prealgebra is based on Bob Prior's own varied teaching experiences, and is designed to serve the needs of today's developmental math student and classroom. Bob knows that because today's students don't always have a lot of "face time" with their instructors, a usable, thorough, easy-to-follow text is key to their success. He draws students into the book (and not just the exercise sets!) by incorporating practice opportunities throughout the body of text. Thorough explanations and examples explain the "why" behind the mathematics, and patiently develop each concept. Prealgebra is presented in a user-friendly, spiral-bound format, and is available with an all-in-one Student Resources DVD-ROM set that includes video lectures for each section of the text, all chapter test solutions on video, and the student's solutions manual. This new streamlined format conserves natural resources, while also providing convenience and savings for students.
Book Synopsis Curricular Program Implementation in the Context of Randomized Field Trials by : Gloria Isabel Miller
Download or read book Curricular Program Implementation in the Context of Randomized Field Trials written by Gloria Isabel Miller and published by Stanford University. This book was released on 2011 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract curricular program implementation in the context of randomized field trials Gloria Isabel Miller This study examined three cases of commercially available curricular program implementations to determine if a unified approach to measuring the level of implementation was possible (proof of concept). Further, the study investigated whether the level of curriculum and implementation plan specificity made a difference to the strength of implementation achieved in classrooms; and described the implementation evolution in different contexts. The study sample consists of a total of 163 teachers in eight school districts across the United States. In each case teachers were randomly assigned to using the curricular innovation or their currently used materials and processes. The three cases, HS-Math, NewScience, and MathIntervention, were purposely chosen to represent three different points of curricular and implementation specificity and two different subject areas, math and science. Each case features a commercially available program that also had opportunities for teachers to use "electronic" technology to enhance their learning or to engage their students. The cases represent differing student grade levels. The cases are different enough to provide a range that exercises the measurement techniques introduced in this study so results can begin to generalize across curricular programs and grades. However, the cases are similar enough in research design, instrumentation, and data collection methods to make them comparable. A key contribution of this investigation is the creation of a framework to measure the level of implementation (the extent to which the teacher and students display the actions, behaviors, and interactions expected by using the innovation). The unified conceptual framework arrived at by using an Activity Theory perspective together with the analytical methods employed provide a way to view the rich complex interaction of implementation as a system with the larger system of the school organization. Data from the analysis revealed that variations in the level of implementation were no different regardless of the level of specificity. A strong finding of this work is that implementation evolves slowly even when the curricular program is scripted and coaching support is provided to teachers. The paper concludes with implications for policy and future research.

Book excerpt: In today's classrooms, the instructional needs and developmental levels of our students are highly varied, and the conventional math whole-group model has its downsides. In contrast to the rigid, one-size-ts-all approach of conventional whole-group instruction, guided math allows us to structure our math block to support student learning in risk-free, small-group instruction. Guided math goes beyond just reorganizing your math block; it also gives you an opportunity to approach math instruction with a renewed sense of perspective and purpose. Drawing on two decades of experience, Reagan Tunstall oers step-by-step best practices to help educators revolutionize their math blocks with a student-centered approach. Whether you're a new teacher who's curious about guided math or a veteran educator looking to hone your methodology, Guided Math AMPED will transform your math block into an exciting and engaging encounter that encourages your students to see themselves as genuine mathematicians.
