This book was released on 2022-03-29 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis “Intention is not method, belief is not evidence” by : Dr. Antje Gansewig
Download or read book “Intention is not method, belief is not evidence” written by Dr. Antje Gansewig and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-21 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over 20 years, school interventions involving former right-wing extremists have been popular in Germany. In practice, they are advertised and conducted as both civic education and extremism prevention. This book uses an evidence-based and interdisciplinary approach to examine the potentials and challenges of this format. It provides a thematic embedding of German application, a comprehensive review of attributed impact assumptions and the state of related research. Furthermore, this research offers highly valuable, unique and comprehensive insights based on empirical evidence. It thus contributes to a better understanding of the format and its complexity. Overall, the findings give no clear indication that the involvement of former right-wing extremists in schools initiate civic education processes or prevent political extremism. Rather, the investigation found fundamental needs for additional research, modification, and sensitization. In this vein, this book makes a pioneer contribution to quality assurance and evaluation research in civic education and extremism prevention.

Book Synopsis Perspectives on Countering Extremism by : Shashi Jayakumar
Download or read book Perspectives on Countering Extremism written by Shashi Jayakumar and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2023-02-09 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of violent extremism has seen a great deal of academic and practitioner focus on the processes of radicalization, and strategies to counter and de-radicalize extremists. Comparatively, little has been written on the subject of Diversion – early, upstream interventions aimed at deflecting individuals from a pathway of radicalization. This volume addresses this gap in scholarship by analyzing the strategies being deployed worldwide, aimed at diverting or deflecting individuals, and communities, from the path of radicalization. Disengagement – which is often necessary when one has already progressed past the 'at-risk' stage – is also addressed, given that social workers, counselors and other practitioners do not necessarily find the distinction between the two a critical issue in practice. What matters is which upstream approaches work, and what shows promise, amongst individuals and communities. Case studies range across the Global North and South, presented by both academics and practitioners. Contributions address approaches that have proven useful, strategies which should be given deeper scrutiny before being employed – and what should be avoided.
Book Synopsis Educating Adolescents Around the Globe by : Meike Watzlawik
Download or read book Educating Adolescents Around the Globe written by Meike Watzlawik and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By traveling to different parts of the world, this book provides a multidisciplinary perspective on the current state of adolescent education and demonstrates how education systems are formed by and closely tied to culture. After establishing a theoretical background, the book delves into the particulars of adolescent education and its associated challenges in six countries (India, Kenya, Germany, Brazil, Japan, and Denmark). In tandem with the discussion of institutions, the stories of those who are all too often underserved or left behind are told. Despite the diversity of each education system, the investigation reveals several unifying themes that transcend the specific contexts. The lessons from each example are woven together to demonstrate how the individualized needs of students can best be met, in a vision for the future of educating adolescents."

Book Synopsis The Routledge Handbook of Music and Migration by : Wolfgang Gratzer
Download or read book The Routledge Handbook of Music and Migration written by Wolfgang Gratzer and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-10-31 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of Music and Migration: Theories and Methodologies is a progressive, transdisciplinary paradigm-shifting core text for music and migration studies. Conceptualized as a comprehensive methodological and theoretical guide, it foregrounds the mobile potentials of music and presents key arguments about why musical expressions matter in the discussion of migration politics. 24 international specialists in music and migration set methodological and theoretical standards for transdisciplinary collaborations in the field of migration studies, discussing 41 keywords, such as mobility, community, research ethics, human rights, and critical whiteness in the context of music and migration. The authors then apply these terms to 16 chapters, which deal with ethnomusicological, musicological, sociological, anthropological, geographical, pedagogical, political, economic, and media-related methodologies and theories which reflect and contest current discourses of migration. In their interdisciplinary focus, these chapters advance interrelations between music and migration as enabling factors for socio-cultural studies. Furthermore, the authors tackle crucial questions of agency, equality, and equity as well as the responsibilities and expectations of writers and artists when researching migration phenomena as innate human experience. As a result, this handbook provides scholars and students alike with relevant and applicable methodological and theoretical tools in addition to an extensive literature and research review for further research.

The 4th volume of the series 'University Sports: Education and Science' takes up this development from a sports science perspective and examines possible connections between sporting activity and academic success with an interdisciplinary focus. In order to record and expand the scientific knowledge on the relevance of sporting activity in the university setting, scientists from various disciplines present their thoughts, observations and findings on the topic. Based on a broad understanding of the concept of academic success, the significance of sporting activity is analyzed in terms of institutional criteria (e.g. final grade, length of study or dropout) as well as individual factors (e.g. study satisfaction, health skills, social skills, psychosocial health).
