Book Synopsis High School and Undergraduate Physics Practicals by : Robert Lucas
Download or read book High School and Undergraduate Physics Practicals written by Robert Lucas and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-05-29 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes more than thirty physics practicals at high school and undergraduate levels with background information on each one, a description of the equipment needed, and instructions on how the experiment is performed. Uniquely, for those without access to a real laboratory, the book provides access to highly detailed 3D simulations of all the experiments. The simulations are a superset of the Virtual Physics Laboratory as reviewed and given the Green Tick of Approval by the Association for Science Education. They run in any browser that supports WebGL, such as Microsoft Edge or Firefox on Windows and Safari on Mac. For the school or university student who wants to practice and widen their knowledge of physics, or for those who are learning on their own, this is an ideal book for honing and broadening experimental skills. The simulations are the result of many years researching the teaching of online science, a field in which the author has published many papers. This book was released on 1921 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is to trace the development of high-school curricula in the North Central states from 1860 to 1900. A brief introduction furnishes a background for the geographical area indicated. Part I contains a treatment of subjects and their organization into curricula. Part II deals with the subject matter of the various fields and subjects. Part III addresses subjects and subject matter in greater depth. For purposes of tabulation, the period 1860-1900 has been divided into eight units of five years each, to determine as accurately as possible the dates at which significant changes took place. In the treatment of subjects, organization of curricula and subject matter, the facts are presented as revealed by the sources consulted. No attempt has been made to give connected accounts of particular schools. Peculiarities of individual schools have been noted but conclusions deal with general practices and tendencies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most important and consistent voices in the reform of science education over the last thirty years has been that of Peter Fensham. His vision of a democratic and socially responsible science education for all has inspired change in schools and colleges throughout the world. Often moving against the tide, Fensham travelled the world to promote his radical ideology. He was appointed Australia's first Professor of Science Education, and was later made a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his work in this new and emerging field of study. In this unique book, leading science educators from around the world examine and discuss Fensham's key ideas. Each describes how his arguments, proposals and recommendations have affected their own practice, and extend and modify his message in light of current issues and trends in science education. The result is a vision for the future of science teaching internationally. Academics, researchers and practitioners in science education around the world will find this book a fascinating insight into the life and work of one of the foremost pioneers in science education. The book will also make inspiring reading for postgraduate students of science education.

Book Synopsis Physics Experiments Using PCs by : H.M. Staudenmaier
Download or read book Physics Experiments Using PCs written by H.M. Staudenmaier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics practical classes form an important part of many scientific and technical courses in higher education. In addition to the older standard experiments, such practicals now generally include a few computer-controlled experiments developed in association with the research groups active in the particular university or college. Since there is relatively little exchange of information between the teaching staff of different institutes, the personal computer, despite its ubiquity, is underexploited in this role as a teaching aid. The present book provides a detailed description of a number of computer-controlled experiments suitable for practical classes. Both the relevant physics and the computational techniques are presented in a form that enables the readers to construct and/or perform the experiment themselves.
