Si bien las políticas públicas pueden ser un instrumento para la transformación de los roles de género y del modelo de sociedad, no todas las políticas públicas tienen el mismo alcance ni todas son diseñadas con estos fines. Los permisos por nacimiento son una de las piedras de toque para calibrar la repercusión de dichas políticas en materia de igualdad. Siguiendo la evolución de estos permisos en más de 25 países europeos, Carmen Castro analiza tanto los enfoques y tendencias como los efectos que han tenido sobre el comportamiento masculino en las sociedades europeas y aporta pistas para vislumbrar, en el actual contexto de crisis, qué nuevos escenarios se abren para la (des)igualdad.
