Book Synopsis Políticas educativas y justicia social by : Carmen Rodríguez Martínez
Download or read book Políticas educativas y justicia social written by Carmen Rodríguez Martínez and published by Ediciones Morata. This book was released on 2020-12-16 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Educational Justice by : Camila Moyano Dávila
Download or read book Educational Justice written by Camila Moyano Dávila and published by IAP. This book was released on 2022-04-01 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a novel perspective on education as a social right. Literature on this topic has focused on inclusion as the universal concept whereby access to education is examined. As a moral principle, this concept opens new challenges in different ways if we take a deeper view into diverse contexts. What education? For what? For whom? Are we thinking about education because it will bring social justice in the future, or are we thinking of education as a just practice in the present? This book brings fresh theoretical and empirical perspectives on those questions, moving beyond a pure inclusion paradigm to a broader and context-oriented notion of educational justice. The chapters engage with theories of educational justice to present these challenges at the institutional level of educational policy, at the practical level of schooling practices, and in the production of ideas around childhood and education, for instance, notions of normalcy at schools. Although the featured works are related to the Chilean educational system, they opens questions about education in general. They embrace rural and urban contexts, different educational levels (from preschool to university), and university and vocational education. This book will be rewarding reading for educational scholars, those interested in theories of social and educational justice, and anyone interested in contemporary perspectives on education, childhood and youth, inclusion, and justice.

Book Synopsis Funds of Knowledge and Identity Pedagogies for Social Justice by : Moisés Esteban-Guitart
Download or read book Funds of Knowledge and Identity Pedagogies for Social Justice written by Moisés Esteban-Guitart and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-21 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume takes the US-derived concept and praxis of funds of knowledge and applies it globally to critically analyse current education in line with social justice, antiracism, and culturally sustaining pedagogies. Edited by one of the premier international voices for the funds of knowledge approach, and in particular funds of identity theory, chapters foreground first-hand, participatory, research-practice experiences with learners, schools, and local communities. These experiences demonstrate the positive, social-justice inspired pedagogical actions that result in, and reveal, powerful possibilities for a decolonialised, antiracist praxis that aims to eradicate deficit thinking in education. Further, the inclusion of voices that are typically "othered" in the construction and distribution of academic knowledge make this a seminal volume in the field. Ultimately, the volume will be of interest to scholars, students, and researchers working in the sociology of education, psychology of education, and those specifically dealing with antiracism, decolonialism, and equity within education.

Book Synopsis Educational Politics for Social Justice by : Catherine Marshall
Download or read book Educational Politics for Social Justice written by Catherine Marshall and published by Teachers College Press. This book was released on 2020 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employing a social justice framework, this book provides educational leaders and practitioners with tools and strategies for grappling with the political fray of education politics. The framework offers ways to critique, challenge, and alter social, cultural, and political patterns in organizations and systems that perpetuate inequities. The authors focus on the processes through which educational politics is enacted, illustrating how inequitable power relations are embedded in our democratic systems. Readers will explore education politics at five focal points of power (micro, local/district, state, federal, and global). The text provides examples of how to “work the system” in ways that move toward greater justice and equity in schools. “This book challenges those who want to work toward justice with critical starting points, conversation starters, and strategies for collaborative leadership.” —From the Foreword by Enrique Aleman, The University of Texas at San Antonio “If educators are truly committed to their students, this text provides the analytic tools and consequent strategies to make public schools better for all of our students. Bravo!” —Catherine A. Lugg, Rutgers University
