Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An attempt has been made in this brief treatment to lay out some basic aspects of contract law that may be transferable to the problem area confronted in policy termination. Whenever a policy is sought to be terminated, the benefits must be balanced against the detriments. Thus, people who take advantage of public policy programs may have legal as well as equitable rights that they could seek to protect. This paper has generally outlined positions that might be adopted.
Book Synopsis Some Altered Thoughts on Policy Termination by : Peter DeLeon
Download or read book Some Altered Thoughts on Policy Termination written by Peter DeLeon and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently there has been a great deal of attention within policymaking offices to program cutback, policy termination, and, in some cases, the actual closure of government agencies, both minor (e.g., the Community Services Administration) and major (e.g., the U.S. Department of Energy). These activities have occasioned a reconsideration of the earlier literature on policy termination to assess its current relevancy upon present and future contingencies. The motivation for the immediate exercise is the budget trimming efforts of the Reagan Administration, which provide anybody interested in termination research ample food for thought, but similar examples can be drawn from the on-going debates in England and Sweden. Policy termination is hardly a parochial act.
Book Synopsis Public Policy by : Christopher A. Simon
Download or read book Public Policy written by Christopher A. Simon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-11-17 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Simon's second edition continues to approach policy by combining normative and empirical perspectives. This deeply revised second edition continues to expose students to the basis of preferences, policy-making processes, policy history, and current policy decisions and outcomes. Chapters conclude with a case studies engaging students in the application of their theoretical knowledge to the real world, and encouraging them to be informed and active citizens. Key Features: Alternate tables of content are included to provide professors and students with flexible, easy-to-implement options for approaching and assigning public policy. Case studies provide real-world examples that concretely illustrate theoretical concepts. End-of-Chapter questions reinforce key concepts and encourage students to think critically about the chapter topics. Each chapter ends with a two-part summary that offers a review of the major chapter concepts ("Lessons Learned") and puts them in context ("The Big Picture").
Book Synopsis United States Code by : United States
Download or read book United States Code written by United States and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 1506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States of America. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second Session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First Session, enacted between January 2, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited "U.S.C. 2012 ed." As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 U.S.C. 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office"--Preface.
