From my lonely childhood to early, angry manhood, Spirit to women, love to hunger. They will make you feel; either something perhaps new--like compassion, or knowing that there is someone else out there that knows what it is like to suffer and be an outcast, too. The poems are like a punch to the stomach.: They will leave you gaspijng for breath at their quick pace and take you for a fast ride into a madman´s life and crazed mind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Musings of a Madman is a compilation of poetry stretching from a meager existence in New York's East Village, with Allen Ginsberg and other such poets to Paris, and environs and finally Colombia. The poems sketch a life style of a lonely man to a final relationship with Adriana, muse, Colombian Princessa and finally wife and a life in Westchester as a jazz musician and poet. It is an dilemma of the very guts of the creative mind with its madness, its hunger its suffering, culminating in a crescendo within existence where the end justify the means. The poems are extremely diverse, some easygoing, some serious, most devouring the beauty of life and its prize and pain, yet all capturing the verve and passion of Greenwich Village in the early 60's.

Book excerpt: "This volume is in part translation from the Arabic parables, in part written directly in English. A small book of only seventy pages, it is a product of the poet's youth and early manhood, rich with promise of what was to follow. It is entirely of the East, with no shading of Western thought or content. It is an expression of the passionate inner life not yet restrained and controlled by the vaster wisdom andcompassion that came to bud in The Forerunner and to full flower in The Prophet . . . "Here for the first time Gibran registers fully his sense of that aloneness which remained with him always, even unto the end. Always he was alien to this planet, to this time and this scene, yet always he battled to reduce this distance between himself and ourselves. But as he once said, 'Ye would not.'" --Barbara Young, in This Man from Lebanon: A Study of Kahlil Gibran

"Poetic Madman" opens up the minds of those who don't understand the illness. Hopefully it will help dispel some of the stigmas. Hopefully persons such as myself won't be vilified, persecuted and avoided. Hopefully some of the mysteries surrounding it can eventually be understood. You may find yourself empathizing for those living with the illness. This work of art is not written to separate. Rather it is written to hopefully unite a world full of differences. Identification is the key. Come take this journey of thought, perceptions, unapologetic, unadulterated madness. Explore the experiences of a man such as myself. Indulge yourselves in the knowledge, wisdom and understandings uniquely expressed through my work. Revere the faith, hope and love instilled in my heart, mind and soul. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Known for his evocative book The Prophet, Gibran's most original work delineates madness -- the existential angst of melancholy and misfortune that separates the individual from society, not a formal mental illness. Gibran contrasts the normal individual who conforms to society's class, role, law, and behavior, with one who sees through hypocrisy, semblance, power, and judges others as ignorant, deceived, or treacherous -- the madman. While the world classifies him as mad, he is thewise one. HOW I BECAME A MADMAN consists of 34 short multi-paragraph sketches, vignettes, parables, and tales composed in a Nietzschean prophetic voice, the insights of Blake, and Eastern story-tellers. The opening passage presents Gibran's theme of madness as social separation: "You ask me how I became a madman. It happened thus: One day, long before many gods were born, I woke from a deep sleep and found all my masks were stolen -- the seven masks I have fashioned and worn in seven lives. I ran maskless through the crowded streets shouting, "Thieves, thieves, the cursed thieves." Men and women laughed at me and some ran to their houses in fear of me. And when I reached the market place, a youth standing on a house-top cried, "He is a madman." I looked up to behold him; the sun kissed my own naked face for the first time. For the first time the sun kissed my own naked face and my soul was inflamed with love for the sun, and I wanted my masks no more. And as if in a trance I cried, "Blessed, blessed are the thieves who stole my masks." Thus I became a madman. And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness; the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us. But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief." Gibran shows that we wear masks to get along society that demands conformity for collective purposes, whereas to act without a mask, to think and speak and behave without the veil of illusion is to be mad. While being maskless frees us, it carries a risk of loneliness and misunderstanding as we become estranged from others. The Madman goes unnoticed, not listened to, and pitied by others. The press for conformity absorbs society like nothing else. When we look beneath the masks of daily life, we find hypocrisy, greed, pride, sloth, ambition, vanity, conformity. These people do not see anything wrong with the ways of the world. Instead, in madness there is wisdom. In HOW I BECAME A MADMAN a youth wants but to be himself, not what his parents and family demand he be, so he has fled to a madhouse --his hermitage -- to be what he wants to be. This is a heart-felt critique of hypocrisy, wealth, arrogance, and power versus the individual. Who has learned to disengage, to keep a distance while nevertheless relating to others with compassion and kindness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Poetic Rantings of a Mad Man presents a collection of the early work of poet John Yergin. The poems included convey a wide range of emotions and cover a period of great turmoil and heartbreak in his life. Because poetry is his chosen outlet for expressing his emotions and heartbreak, these verses represent a true expression of his inner self. Whether he is searching for love, coping with the heartbreak of love lost, or just trying to determine his rightful place in the universe, his inner turmoil is etched upon each poem. Some of his poems explore the passion of new love or explain the misery of a failed crush. This poetry seeks to leave a lasting impression of the journey taken to find enduring love. Hopes and Dreams A brilliant sunset, Melting into twilight, Is breathtaking. But it still does not, Come close to the beauty. I see when I look Into your eyes, A midnight sky, Scattered with thousands Of silver stars, Holds Countless hopes and dreams, But it can not hold all the dreams, I want to share with you. A million tomorrows Would not hold enough time for me to tell you, How much I love you. How Thankful I am, To have you at my side.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clifton Gachagua’s collection Madman at Kilifi, winner of the Sillerman First Book Prize for African Poets, concerns itself with the immediacy of cultures in flux, cybercommunication and the language of consumerism, polyglot politics and intrigue, sexual ambivalence and studied whimsy, and the mind of a sensitive, intelligent, and curious poet who stands in the midst of it all. Gachagua’s is a world fully grounded in the postmodern Kenyan cultural cauldron, a world in which people speak with “satellite mouths,” with bodies that are “singing machines,” and in which the most we can do is “collide against each other.” Here light is graceful, and we glow like undiscovered galaxies and shifting matter. And here as well, we find new expression in a poetry that moves as we do.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a compilation of the Madman series written by Derrick Williams. As such it contains: Laments of the Madman (2nd Edition), Scribblings of the Madman and Inside the Mind of a Madman. The idea behind the mad man is simple; WE are the entire madman. We have taken life's journey through valleys and mountains. We have experienced sorrow, pain, infinite joy and beauteous love. We have crippled ourselves at the expense of others while being crippled by others. The madman is the voice that seeks to do away with self-delusion. That strips us down to the bone and exposes us for what we are: human. If you don't believe me, then you have not looked at your own life hard enough. The boulder that crashed into you was not enough to break you. The Poet Williams had his "aha" moment long ago and he writes to show others the path to accepting who you really are wonderfully human. While some of the poems do appear more than once in this particular book, the goal is to tell a story. A story of the who, what, when, where and how it all went down. The story behind the story, the mask behind the mask, the truth underneath the truth. That is where the madman and you really are. Dear Reader, enjoy your journey into the realm of the madman when you find yourself have a cup of chai and talk. Regards, The Poet Williams
