Book Synopsis Esercizi di laicità interculturale e pluralismo religioso by : AA.VV.
Download or read book Esercizi di laicità interculturale e pluralismo religioso written by AA.VV. and published by G Giappichelli Editore. This book was released on 2014-02-19 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Orthodox Identities in Western Europe by : Maria Hämmerli
Download or read book Orthodox Identities in Western Europe written by Maria Hämmerli and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-23 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Orthodox migration in the West matters, despite its unobtrusive presence. And it matters in a way that has not yet been explored in social and religious studies: in terms of size, geographical scope, theological input and social impact. This book explores the adjustment of Orthodox migrants and their churches to Western social and religious contexts in different scenarios. This variety is consistent with Orthodox internal diversity regarding ethnicity, migration circumstances, Church-State relations and in line with the specificities of the receiving country in terms of religious landscape, degree of secularisation, legal treatment of immigrant religious institutions or socio-economic configurations. Exploring how Orthodox identities develop when displaced from traditional ground where they are socially and culturally embedded, this book offers fresh insights into Orthodox identities in secular, religiously pluralistic social contexts.

Book Synopsis Strangers with God by : Claudio Monge
Download or read book Strangers with God written by Claudio Monge and published by ATF Press. This book was released on 2024-03-20 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These pages represent the compendium of a long journey of more than twenty-five years. It would be simplistic to define this journey as exclusively intellectual, because it would be unthinkable without frequent visits to the Middle East, in particular to Turkey, the second Holy Land of Christianity, the ancient Asia Minor of biblical history, with its overwhelming Muslim population today. The fact is that, since many years now, the theme of hospitality has been the subject of numerous publications, studies, contributions and gatherings with protagonists of various opinions and expertise convening to give answers to questions related to the challenge of living together in the complex society of our contemporary world. It is precisely by letting ourselves be questioned by these complexities that we become aware that the challenge of hospitality is not merely economic or political but also spiritual. Claudio Monge addresses one of the key questions of today with an extremely ancient text from the deepest roots of our civilisation, Genesis 18, in which Abraham welcomes the three strangers who come to his tent and announce the conception of Isaac. Today, when millions are in movement, fleeing war and poverty, the question of how we are to receive strangers is urgent and inescapable. Monge explores this text through the traditions of three religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - which claim the assent of approximately half of the population of the world. Yet these three religions, all looking back in one way or another to Abraham, are often strangers to each other. If we could offer welcome to each other, what a powerful sign of hope this would be for our conflict torn world!

Book Synopsis Non c'è fede che tenga by : Cinzia Sciuto
Download or read book Non c'è fede che tenga written by Cinzia Sciuto and published by Feltrinelli Editore. This book was released on 2018-09-13T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Sikhs Across Borders written by Knut A. Jacobsen and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2012-09-06 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sikhs Across Borders is the first study to explore patterns of transnational practices among European Sikhs, with particular focus on the links between the Sikhs in Europe, Punjab (the 'home-land') and within a global Sikh community. The book illustrates how local and transnational spheres coexist and interact in a multitude of social and cultural practices and discourses among European Sikhs past and present. Based on new empirical research Sikhs Across Borders book explores how religion continues to play a significant role in the daily lives of European Sikhs and is important for their maintenance of links with the homeland, as well as Sikhs in other parts of the world. The team of international contributors show how Sikhs are shaping new self-representations and identity constructions through a multitude of transnational practices on the individual, national and global level, such as marriages, pilgrimage narratives, and the use of the internet and new media. Further transnational practices examined include religious learning and teaching practices and responses to political events in the diaspora.
