Book Synopsis Seven More Languages in Seven Weeks by : Bruce Tate
Download or read book Seven More Languages in Seven Weeks written by Bruce Tate and published by Pragmatic Bookshelf. This book was released on 2014-11-19 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great programmers aren't born--they're made. The industry is moving from object-oriented languages to functional languages, and you need to commit to radical improvement. New programming languages arm you with the tools and idioms you need to refine your craft. While other language primers take you through basic installation and "Hello, World," we aim higher. Each language in Seven More Languages in Seven Weeks will take you on a step-by-step journey through the most important paradigms of our time. You'll learn seven exciting languages: Lua, Factor, Elixir, Elm, Julia, MiniKanren, and Idris. Learn from the award-winning programming series that inspired the Elixir language. Hear how other programmers across broadly different communities solve problems important enough to compel language development. Expand your perspective, and learn to solve multicore and distribution problems. In each language, you'll solve a non-trivial problem, using the techniques that make that language special. Write a fully functional game in Elm, without a single callback, that compiles to JavaScript so you can deploy it in any browser. Write a logic program in Clojure using a programming model, MiniKanren, that is as powerful as Prolog but much better at interacting with the outside world. Build a distributed program in Elixir with Lisp-style macros, rich Ruby-like syntax, and the richness of the Erlang virtual machine. Build your own object layer in Lua, a statistical program in Julia, a proof in code with Idris, and a quiz game in Factor. When you're done, you'll have written programs in five different programming paradigms that were written on three different continents. You'll have explored four languages on the leading edge, invented in the past five years, and three more radically different languages, each with something significant to teach you.
Book Synopsis Specifying and Diagnostically Testing Econometric Models by : Houston H. Stokes
Download or read book Specifying and Diagnostically Testing Econometric Models written by Houston H. Stokes and published by Greenwood. This book was released on 1991 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume discusses and illustrates with output from actual problems a number of applied econometric techniques. Among the specific techniques covered are OLS specification tests, recursive residual analysis, limited dependent variable models, error component models, time series models, and optimal control analysis. For each, the author outlines the basic mathematical models involved, discusses and estimates a sample problem using the B34S Data Analysis System he developed to facilitate the calculations, displays and evaluates the output of the program, and explores follow-up models. The examples selected are taken from a variety of sources and reflect actual applied research. All results are completely documented in the text so that the reader does not need access to the B34S program in order to use the book effectively.
Book Synopsis Hunnic Peoples in Central and South Asia by : Dániel Balogh
Download or read book Hunnic Peoples in Central and South Asia written by Dániel Balogh and published by Barkhuis. This book was released on 2020-03-12 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a comprehensive compilation of primary textual sources pertaining to the history of Hunnic peoples in the vast area encompassing Central and South Asia. Sources in nearly a dozen languages have been carefully selected by scholars with a specialisation in the particular language and relevant research experience. Each excerpt in the chrestomathy is presented in the original language, accompanied by an authoritative translation into a modern European language to make it accessible to specialists of other fields. Many texts are, moreover, accompanied by a commentary highlighting crucial points of interest, problematic issues and connections to the information revealed in other sources. The Sourcebook is the outcome of an interdisciplinary workshop held at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest, Hungary) in August 2017, organised by the project Beyond Boundaries and funded by the European Research Council. The initial compilation of source texts was selectively presented, analysed and discussed at this workshop, culminating in the present volume, whose publication has also been supported by the ERC. The authors and the editor present the book to the community of scholars and enthusiasts in hopes that, by making pertinent primary sources accessible, it will serve as a solid foundation on which to base future research. The included commentaries are thus not intended to be exhaustive, but to instigate further enquiry. For in-depth discussion of many issues raised here, a Companion series is planned to follow the Sourcebook. The first companion volume, a study of the Alkhan by Hans Bakker, is released simultaneously by Barkhuis, Groningen.

Book Synopsis Sogno di un Ploto by : Niccolò Leogrande
Download or read book Sogno di un Ploto written by Niccolò Leogrande and published by Aletti Editore. This book was released on 2023-10-17 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Impressioni via via immortalate in disegni, quadri, fotografie e, soprattutto, scritti in versi.
Book Synopsis Computer Programs for Chemistry by : DeLos DeTar
Download or read book Computer Programs for Chemistry written by DeLos DeTar and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Programs for Chemistry, Volume 4, aims to make available a useful collection of tested programs, which may be expected to have a long useful life. Since the programs in each volume are represented by considerably over 10,000 source cards, arrangements have been made to provide a master tape for each volume. The programs in the series fall into two broad classes: complete packages and subroutines. ANSI FORTRAN has been chosen as the language since it provides adequate flexibility and excellent compatibility. But where departures are needed for efficiency, the editors have not hesitated to allow use of small subroutines in nonstandard FORTRAN or in assembly language, with careful documentation. The programs discussed in this volume include LSKIN2, FRS3, GENLSS, CDORD, EQCENT, EDITQ and EDITID, LORAK, and INDEX. Anyone who intends to use computer techniques will have to learn about computer hardware and computer software. To use effectively even the stand-alone programs in these volumes requires some understanding of FORTRAN. This volume also contains a number of converting subroutines that are useful primarily to the serious programmer. These have proved especially useful as parts of programs presented in previous volumes.

Book Synopsis Punishment and Penance by : Thomas B. Deutscher
Download or read book Punishment and Penance written by Thomas B. Deutscher and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2013-02-20 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Punishment and Penance provides the first comprehensive study of an Italian bishop’s tribunal in criminal matters, such as violence, forbidden sexual activity, and offenses against the faith. Through numerous case studies, Thomas B. Deutscher investigates the scope and effectiveness of the early modern ecclesiastical legal system. Deutscher examines the records of the bishop’s tribunal of the northern Italian diocese of Novara during two distinct periods: the ambitious decades following the Council of Trent (1563–1615), and the half-century leading up to the French invasions of 1790s. As the state’s power continued to rise during this second time span, the Church was often humbled and the tribunal’s activity was much reduced. Enriched by stories drawn from the files, which often allowed the accused to speak in their own voices, Punishment and Penance provides a window into the workings of a tribunal in this period.

This book was released on 2017-10-18 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study seeks to correct the underrepresentation of Mediterranean maritime history in academic publications, in attempt to understand the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment in which maritime activity takes place, by compiling ten essays from maritime historians concerning Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Greece, Turkey, and Israel. The aim of the collection is to provide an insight into Mediterranean maritime history to those who could not previously access such information due to language barriers or difficulty securing non-English publications; some of the essays have translated into English specifically for this publication. The majority of the essays concern the Early Modern period, and the remainder concern the contemporary.

Book Synopsis A Calculation Method for Incompressible Axisymmetric Flows, Including Unseparated, Fully Separated, and Free Surface Flows by : James Webb White
Download or read book A Calculation Method for Incompressible Axisymmetric Flows, Including Unseparated, Fully Separated, and Free Surface Flows written by James Webb White and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An interacting zone method is developed for the analysis of completely stalled, turbulent, axisymmetric jet flows which are incompressible and nominally steady. The flow is treated as a mutual interaction problem; unlike the classical boundary layer theory, this method includes the effect of the stalled-zone blockage on the first order potential flow solution. Both a priori and ab initio predictions are obtained. A new integral turbulent boundary layer separation prediction method is developed in order to accurately predict the separation location and effective flow boundary near separation. Because the boundary layer equations require only the wall pressure from the potential flow, a new boundary integral solution is developed for the potential field. Unlike grid methods, the boundary integral method computes unknowns only over the flow boundary. By treating the stalled zone as a region of uniform (but initially unknown) pressure, the potential solution can iteratively locate the free surface. Speed of computation is significantly faster than existing grid methods for potential flow analysis. The resulting computer program provides analysis of the following types of axisymmetric flows: (1) Unseparated potential flow, with and without blowing or suction; (2) Free surface potential flow; (3) Unseparated turbulent diffuser flow; and (4) Completely separated turbulent jet flow.
