This book was released on 1983 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This reappraisal of educational planning, implementing a decision of the Education Committee for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), has two main objectives: to review the evolution of concepts, approaches, and practices of educational planning in member countries during the past 20 years; and to identify new features of planning that can help educational authorities design future policies that take account of changing educational demand and limited financial resources. The book is divided into three thematic parts to give conceptual consistency to the various contributions. Part 1, "The Evaluation of Educational Planning Concepts and Approaches," consists of three chapters: (1) "An Overview" by C. Soumelis; (2) "Educational Policy Planning and Educational Research" by K. Hufner (a model for communication between the two professions); and (3) "New Features in Educational Planning," a critique by K. Eide. Part 2, "The Practice of Educational Planning: Country Experience" is divided into two chapters describing educational planning in countries (4) with federal systems of government (Australia and Germany) and (5) with unified systems of government (France, Japan, and Norway). Part 3, "The Future of Educational Policy/Planning," is likewise divided into two chapters: (6) "Long Range Educational Policy Planning Perspectives in OECD Countries: A Review of Issues and Policy Proposals," by J. Tinbergen and G. Psacharopoulos; and (7) "An Agenda for the Future: A Framework for Educational Policy Planning" by G. Williams. (TE)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Development planning is a relatively new concept in a changing educational vocabulary. Different terms are now being used both within and between countries, and the same term does not always have a shared meaning. There is, however, something of a common core in both the origin and definition of the concept, whatever particular name is used. Development planning is a response to the need for a systematic and whole-school approach to planning and the management of multiple innovations and change. Although development planning is now a widespread innovation, its success or effectiveness in terms of school improvement is by no means established. The relative youth of development planning as a school improvement strategy, and the fact the research is set within specific national or local contexts, means that far less is known than anyone cares to admit. The twelve chapters representing experience from six English-speaking countries that comprise this volume attempt to remedy that situation. Together with the editorial introduction they seek to pick out recurring themes as well as those very distinctive features that may be Important in an emergent field of study.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Programming & Planning in Early Childhood Settings explores a range of approaches to curriculum and to documenting children’s learning in early childhood settings. This valuable resource for early childhood education students and practitioners provides a broad view of the concepts and issues in early childhood curriculum. Chapters reflect ongoing discussions about what is meant by the terms ‘planning’ and ‘programming’ in the context of early childhood, what is authentic curriculum for young children, and effective teaching strategies to extend young children’s learning. The strong focus on sociocultural theories of learning promotes awareness of children’s diverse experiences, competencies and learning styles, and helps readers recognise the need for collaborative partnerships between educators, children and families in order to develop appropriate programs. Thoroughly revised and updated, this eighth edition shows how chapters of the text are relevant to the Australian Professional Standards for teachers, and highlights connections to the school-based context. Numerous real-life examples, reflections, and case studies assist students to understand a variety of educational theories, philosophies and frameworks. Throughout the book there is a focus on the processes of reflection, evaluation and ongoing improvement. Premium online teaching and learning tools are available on the MindTap platform. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Planning Australia’s Healthy Built Environments shines a quintessentially Australian light on the links between land use planning and human health. A burgeoning body of empirical research demonstrates the ways urban structure and governance influences human health—and Australia is playing a pivotal role in developing understandings of the relationships between health and the built environment. This book takes a retrospective look at many of the challenges faced in pushing the healthy built environment agenda forward. It provides a clear and theoretically sound framework to inform this work into the future. With an emphasis on context and the pursuit of equity, Jennifer L. Kent and Susan Thompson supply specific ways to better incorporate idiosyncrasies of place and culture into urban planning interventions for health promotion. By chronicling the ways health and the built environment scholarship and practice can work together, Planning Australia’s Healthy Built Environments enters into new theoretical and practical debates in this critically important area of research. This book will resonate with both health and built environment scholars and practitioners working to create sustainable and health-supportive urban environments.
