Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important book provides a practical guide to the principles and practice of developing an integrated pest management (IPM) programme. Integrated Pest Management answers the question `how do you devise, develop and implement a practical IPM system which will fully meet the real needs of farmers?'. The term `pest' in this book is used in its broadest sense and includes insects, pathogens, weeds, nematodes, etc. The book commences by outlining the basic principles which underlie pest control (crop husbandry, socio-economics, population ecology and population genetics) and reviews the control mesures available and their use in IPM systems. Subsequent chapters cover the techniques and approaches used in defining a pest problem, programme planning and management, systems analysis, experimental paradigms and implementation of IPM systems. The final seciton of the book contains four chapters giving examples of IPM in different cropping systems, contributed by invited specialists and outlining four different perspectives. Integrated Pest Management will be of great use to agricultural and plant scientists, entomologists, aracologists and nematologists and all those studying crop protection, particularly at MSc level and above. It will be particularly useful for, and should find a place on the shelves of all personnel within the agrochemical industry, universities and research establishments working in this subject area and as a reference in libraries for students and professionals alike.

This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This curriculum briefly outlines Integrated pest management (IPM) for these selected crops, green gram, and chickpea. The general concept of IPM is the same for these crops, although the insect pests, diseases and weeds differ from one crop to another. The name of pests are listed for information, and important messages that are unique to Myanmar's situation is briefed if necessary, rather than giving a detailed account of morphology, biology, ecology and management, which can be readily available in published literature. It aims to improve farmers' knowledge of the pests, including insects, plant diseases, weeds and rodents causing the reduction in the yield of field crops and how to manage the crops to boost crop production without deteriorating environmental resources for sustainable agriculture.

This book was released on 2022-03-18 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biotic stresses cause yield loss of 31-42% in crops in addition to 6-20% during post-harvest stage. Understanding interaction of crop plants to the biotic stresses caused by insects, bacteria, fungi, viruses, and oomycetes, etc. is important to develop resistant crop varieties. Knowledge on the advanced genetic and genomic crop improvement strategies including molecular breeding, transgenics, genomic-assisted breeding and the recently emerging genome editing for developing resistant varieties in pulse crops is imperative for addressing FPNEE (food, health, nutrition. energy and environment) security. Whole genome sequencing of these crops followed by genotyping-by-sequencing have facilitated precise information about the genes conferring resistance useful for gene discovery, allele mining and shuttle breeding which in turn opened up the scope for 'designing' crop genomes with resistance to biotic stresses. The nine chapters each dedicated to a pulse crop in this volume elucidate on different types of biotic stress agents and their effects on and interaction with the crop plants; enumerate on the available genetic diversity with regard to biotic stress resistance among available cultivars; illuminate on the potential gene pools for utilization in interspecific gene transfer; present brief on the classical genetics of stress resistance and traditional breeding for transferring them to their cultivated counterparts; depict the success stories of genetic engineering for developing biotic stress resistant varieties; discuss on molecular mapping of genes and QTLs underlying biotic stress resistance and their marker-assisted introgression into elite varieties; enunciate on different emerging genomics-aided techniques including genomic selection, allele mining, gene discovery and gene pyramiding for developing resistant crop varieties with higher quantity and quality of yields; and also elaborate some case studies on genome editing focusing on specific genes for generating disease and insect resistant crops.

Book excerpt: The main criteria of consolidation of this book "Guide for Insect Morphology" (Objective based) is to fulfil the need of the students those who are appearing for JRF, SRF, ARS, NET, Civils and several other competitive exams. To consolidate this book it has taken several days to collect, edit and update the vast literatures from various reference books, journals and different websites. Due to compilation of all the topics into one books it may be chance of missing some of the things which will be most useful to the students, so we try to consolidate the basic subject (Insect Morphology) which are at most important in the entomology which will give a vast knowledge within a short period of time instead reading several books and wasting the precious time. It is one of the most useful book to the aspirants those who are appearing for different competitive exams. This book consists of total 4 parts. Part- I dealing with Insect Morphology, consisting 12 Chapters, each chapter will give the vast knowledge about the subject, Part- II deals with the Different Institutions in India, Journals and Magazines present worldwide, it consists of 7 Chapters. Part -III consists of Tables in which classification and differences are present. Part-IV deals with the Previous year question papers.
