Book Synopsis Color and Picture Knitting by : Mayan Ward
Download or read book Color and Picture Knitting written by Mayan Ward and published by . This book was released on 2011-09-03 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: * This book is the same as 'Knitting with Baba', but without my Baba stories.About the Book: Picture knitting is wonderful and thrilling, just as color knitting is appetizing and exciting. But you need to knit it yourself and go through your own process, in order to really feel it. It is in the hope of helping you knit your own, that this book was born. The book includes learning how to knit, knitting with colors, and picture knitting. It starts with easy techniques, then moves to more involved ones. The only real advanced knitting techniques are those based on shibori, water color quilts and weaving. We show 2 ways of knitting: American (US), and Persian (PRS). Both ways, or any other way you choose, will work fine for all projects. There are few garment patterns for practice, but the majority of the projects are pictures. However, the pictures can be easily incorporated into garments or home accessories (the back/front of a vest, a pocket, pillow, blanket, throw, etc.). Change the designs to suit you, your feelings and your style. Yarn specifications (color, brand and amount) are not given. Be creative and choose your own. In general you will need very small amounts of yarn, much less than 1 skein per picture. Use leftover yarns and if you run out, improvise (see 'Stages on the Path', page 163, for an extreme example of what happened when I run out of a particular shade of white yarn). It will be easier to follow the book with yarn and needles in hand, as opposed to trying to understand it by reading alone. If my instructions are not clear to you, please do not give up, but rather find another book that shows how to knit with colors in a way that you can understand. Knitting pictures is much easier than most people think. A challenging picture only means that it requires more attention and focus. You can handle that, can't you? Be brave. If you made a mistake in a garment, fix it, or: If your knitted garment came out too big - give it to a friend; Too small - let the fun begin! Get creative with ideas to make it bigger. This is where creativity comes in, and the adventure of walking an unknown path. For picture knitting I recommend to be brave by NOT fixing your mistakes, or you will find yourself redoing for eternity. Go on with the picture as is. Be adventurous and curious to see the result. You can always fix it later by embroidering on top, or knit another picture with all the lessons you learned from 'not undoing' the first one. The faster way to knit pictures is simply to go on knitting.* Everything I say in this book is totally subjective. What's easy for me might not be so easy for you, AND vise versa.
