Book Synopsis Piano Concerto in E-flat Major, WoO 4 by : Ludwig van Beethoven
Download or read book Piano Concerto in E-flat Major, WoO 4 written by Ludwig van Beethoven and published by A-R Editions, Inc.. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Piano Concerto in E-flat Major, WoO 4, is Beethoven¿s earliest concerto and probably his first work to use any sort of an orchestra. Probably composed in 1785, the work is a substantial one, with three fully-developed movements spread fairly evenly over its thirty-five minute length. A manuscript copy of the solo piano part (no full score has been found) contains all tutti sections as well as instrumental cues indicating an orchestra of two flutes, two horns, and strings. In 1943 a workable version for piano and orchestra assembled by Swiss musicologist Willi Hess was published, but it was a product of its time, and some liberties were taken (for instance, the endings of the second and third movements were changed). The present edition retains Beethoven¿s scoring and also features parts for bassoons, which would normally have played along on the bass line. The original endings of the Larghetto and Rondo have been restored, original dynamics are closely adhered to, thematic material is introduced at logical places, and interplay between the soloist and various instruments is featured at a number of locations. Beethoven tightened up this concerto by crossing out measures in all three movements, and these have been included in appendices.
Book Synopsis Keyboard Concerto in B-flat Major, Op. 2 by : Carl Ludwig Junker
Download or read book Keyboard Concerto in B-flat Major, Op. 2 written by Carl Ludwig Junker and published by A-R Editions, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A pastor, critic, and writer by profession, Carl Ludwig Junker today is far better known for his books, articles, and published letters than for his musical compositions. As one of the most interesting and perceptive commentators and theorists of the late eighteenth century, Junker provided valuable information about contemporary musicians and music making during his lifetime. Junker also wrote twenty-four symphonies (now lost), thirteen piano pieces, and several songs. The concerto presented in this edition, opus 2, was published by Bossler in 1782. As Junkers only surviving concerto, it enriches our understanding and appreciation of the early piano concerto, a genre that would find its full realization in the hands of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.
