This book was released on 1989 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This very interesting monograph straddles two well-studied areas--invariant theory of commutative rings, and the theory of a fixed (noncommutative) ring under a finite group of automorphisms. The author develops a new theory--the fixed subring of a polynomial identity algebra under a linear algebraic group of automorphisms.

Book excerpt: The book is devoted to the combinatorial theory of polynomial algebras, free associative and free Lie algebras, and algebras with polynomial identities. It also examines the structure of automorphism groups of free and relatively free algebras. It is based on graduate courses and short cycles of lectures presented by the author at several universities and its goal is to involve the reader as soon as possible in the research area, to make him or her able to read books and papers on the considered topics. It contains both classical and contemporary results and methods. A specific feature of the book is that it includes as its inseparable part more than 250 exercises and examples with detailed hints (50 % of the numbered statements), some of them treating serious mathematical results. The exposition is accessible for graduate and advanced undergraduate students with standard background on linear algebra and some elements of ring theory and group theory. The professional mathematician working in the field of algebra and other related topics also will find the book useful for his or her research and teaching. TOC:Introduction 1. Book Synopsis Ideals of Identities of Associative Algebras by : Aleksandr Robertovich Kemer
Download or read book Ideals of Identities of Associative Algebras written by Aleksandr Robertovich Kemer and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book concerns the study of the structure of identities of PI-algebras over a field of characteristic zero. In the first chapter, the author brings out the connection between varieties of algebras and finitely-generated superalgebras. The second chapter examines graded identities of finitely-generated PI-superalgebras. One of the results proved concerns the decomposition of T-ideals, which is very useful for the study of specific varieties. In the fifth section of Chapter Two, the author solves Specht's problem, which asks whether every associative algebra over a field of characteristic zero has a finite basis of identities. The book closes with an application of methods and results established earlier: the author finds asymptotic bases of identities of algebras with unity satisfying all of the identities of the full algebra of matrices of order two.
Book Synopsis Growth of Algebras and Gelfand-Kirillov Dimension by : G. R. Krause
Download or read book Growth of Algebras and Gelfand-Kirillov Dimension written by G. R. Krause and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the two decades that preceded the publication of the first edition of this book, the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension had emerged as a very useful and powerful tool for investigating non-commutative algebras. At that time, the basic ideas and results were scattered throughout various journal articles. The first edition of this book provided a much-needed reliable and coherent single source of information. Since that time, the book has become the standard reference source for researchers. For this edition, the authors incorporated the original text with only minor modifications. Errors have been corrected, items have been rephrased, and more mathematical expressions have been displayed for the purpose of clarity. The newly added Chapter 12 provides broad overviews of the new developments that have surfaced in the last few years, with references to the literature for details. The bibliography has been updated and accordingly, almost double the size of the original one. The faithful revision and contemporary design of this work offers time-honored expertise with modern functionality. A keenly appealing combination. So, whether for the classroom, the well-tended mathematical books collection, or the research desk, this book holds unprecedented relevance.

Book Synopsis Rings with Polynomial Identities and Finite Dimensional Representations of Algebras by : Eli Aljadeff
Download or read book Rings with Polynomial Identities and Finite Dimensional Representations of Algebras written by Eli Aljadeff and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2020-12-14 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A polynomial identity for an algebra (or a ring) A A is a polynomial in noncommutative variables that vanishes under any evaluation in A A. An algebra satisfying a nontrivial polynomial identity is called a PI algebra, and this is the main object of study in this book, which can be used by graduate students and researchers alike. The book is divided into four parts. Part 1 contains foundational material on representation theory and noncommutative algebra. In addition to setting the stage for the rest of the book, this part can be used for an introductory course in noncommutative algebra. An expert reader may use Part 1 as reference and start with the main topics in the remaining parts. Part 2 discusses the combinatorial aspects of the theory, the growth theorem, and Shirshov's bases. Here methods of representation theory of the symmetric group play a major role. Part 3 contains the main body of structure theorems for PI algebras, theorems of Kaplansky and Posner, the theory of central polynomials, M. Artin's theorem on Azumaya algebras, and the geometric part on the variety of semisimple representations, including the foundations of the theory of Cayley–Hamilton algebras. Part 4 is devoted first to the proof of the theorem of Razmyslov, Kemer, and Braun on the nilpotency of the nil radical for finitely generated PI algebras over Noetherian rings, then to the theory of Kemer and the Specht problem. Finally, the authors discuss PI exponent and codimension growth. This part uses some nontrivial analytic tools coming from probability theory. The appendix presents the counterexamples of Golod and Shafarevich to the Burnside problem.

Book Synopsis Identities of Algebras and their Representations by : I︠U︡riĭ Pitrimovich Razmyslov
Download or read book Identities of Algebras and their Representations written by I︠U︡riĭ Pitrimovich Razmyslov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1994 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past forty years, a new trend in the theory of associative algebras, Lie algebras, and their representations has formed under the influence of mathematical logic and universal algebra, namely, the theory of varieties and identities of associative algebras, Lie algebras, and their representations. The last twenty years have seen the creation of the method of 2-words and *a-functions, which allowed a number of problems in the theory of groups, rings, Lie algebras, and their representations to be solved in a unified way. The possibilities of this method are far from exhausted. This book sums up the applications of the method of 2-words and *a-functions in the theory of varieties and gives a systematic exposition of contemporary achievements in the theory of identities of algebras and their representations closely related to this method. The aim is to make these topics accessible to a wider group of mathematicians.

Book Synopsis Non-Associative Algebras and Related Topics by : Helena Albuquerque
Download or read book Non-Associative Algebras and Related Topics written by Helena Albuquerque and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-28 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume presents a selection of peer-reviewed contributions from the Second Non-Associative Algebras and Related Topics (NAART II) conference, which was held at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, from July 18–22, 2022. The conference was held in honor of mathematician Alberto Elduque, who has made significant contributions to the study of non-associative structures such as Lie, Jordan, and Leibniz algebras. The papers in this volume are organized into four parts: Lie algebras, superalgebras, and groups; Leibniz algebras; associative and Jordan algebras; and other non-associative structures. They cover a variety of topics, including classification problems, special maps (automorphisms, derivations, etc.), constructions that relate different structures, and representation theory. One of the unique features of NAART is that it is open to all topics related to non-associative algebras, including octonion algebras, composite algebras, Banach algebras, connections with geometry, applications in coding theory, combinatorial problems, and more. This diversity allows researchers from a range of fields to find the conference subjects interesting and discover connections with their own areas, even if they are not traditionally considered non-associative algebraists. Since its inception in 2011, NAART has been committed to fostering cross-disciplinary connections in the study of non-associative structures.
Book Synopsis Polynomial Identity Rings by : Vesselin Drensky
Download or read book Polynomial Identity Rings written by Vesselin Drensky and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 197 pages.
