This book of photocopiable games is ideal for classes of different abilities as the games are colour coded for 3 different abilities: verde (lower ability group), giallo (middle group), and rosso (higher ability group). For each topic, the number of words to practise for the colour coded games will vary for each ability group. At the front of the book you will find a detailed plan of which Italian words each ability group has for the games in each topic. The lovely games in this book have been created for pupils aged 7 - 14 by a qualified and experienced Foreign Languages Teacher. The differentiated photocopiable games that appear in the book include: Snakes and ladders, dominoes, board games, co-ordinates & 3 or 4 in a row. On each game there is a useful Italian vocabulary list, many with pictures, for all the words the pupils need for that game. Each topic also has a set of picture and matching Italian word mini cards. There are so many different language games that can be played using mini cards, so at the back of the book there are photocopiable instructions that can be given to the pupils explaining 16 different games or activities. The instructions can either be given as an instructions page for the children to choose their own game, or you can choose the games the children will play and photocopy the instructions for these. For the games using the mini cards you can decide if you want the whole class to have all the cards, or if you continue to ask groups to focus on the words outlined in the detailed vocabulary plan for each group. You can also practice making Italian sentences or questions by embedding important language principles as the pupils play the games. At the back of the book you will find 5 pages of useful suggestions about the sentences or questions that can be made using the words pictured in the games.Once photocopied, the games are an excellent classroom resource thatcan be used time and time again. The mini cards look good photocopied onto card, and the board games look lovely photocopied onto either A4 or A3. Games are ideal for repetition, reinforcement, encourage a positive approach to learning a foreign language and also encourage the development of good social and communication skills.
