This book was released on 2001 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report assesses the oil & gas resource potential in the Cenozoic and Mesozoic strata of the three major sedimentary basins of the Pacific margin of Canada: the Tofino, Queen Charlotte, and Georgia basins. Ten conceptual petroleum plays are defined on the basis of various geological controls, with most plays identified from stratigraphic considerations. Once defined, the ten plays are each statistically analyzed to estimate their hydrocarbon resource potential. Total potential & field sizes quoted in the report are all median value estimates of in-place hydrocarbon volumes.

Download or read book Sedimentary Basins of Northern Canada written by D. Lavoie (Geological Survey of Canada) and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Sedimentary basins underlie much of northern Canada. These basins host or have potential to host mineral and energy resources, but in many areas, the geological information was insufficient to properly evaluate the geological history or mineral potential. The Geological Survey of Canada's Geo-mapping for Energy and Minerals program (2008-2020) made important contributions to understanding Canada's northern sedimentary basins. The 10 papers in this volume provide insights into the age and depositional environments of the sediments that fill these basins, the timing of non-deposition and erosion events, as well as the earth system changes and tectonic forces that led to the geology that is exposed today. Lower Paleozoic basins in the Arctic Islands, Hudson Bay, and Mackenzie Mountains, as well as Mesozoic basins in the Arctic Islands and Yukon are described. Two papers cover broad topics of Mesozoic correlation and exhumation of the Canadian Shield"--Provided by publisher.

Book Synopsis Devonian Gas Resources of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin by : G. E. Reinson
Download or read book Devonian Gas Resources of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin written by G. E. Reinson and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part of this study describes the petroleum geology of Devonian gas exploration plays in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and provides an assessment of remaining natural gas potential. It includes descriptions of the resource assessment procedure, the regional stratigraphy and depositional setting/morphology of the study area, geology and play potential of individual established plays in the districts of the Basin, and a geological analysis of conceptual plays. The second part is an economic analysis that uses selected information from the first part, applying an investment decision methodology to estimate the quantity of economically recoverable resources under a set of assumptions pertaining to technology, costs, and future economic parameters.
