Toute sa philosophie vise ainsi à préparer une nouvelle institution de valeurs qui puisse surmonter cette crise. Puisque la prise de conscience de l'importance des changements climatiques annoncés rend difficile de justifier nos modes de vie, la crise environnementale peut et doit être comprise comme une crise culturelle de l'ordre de celle identifiée par Nietzsche. Cependant, tandis que le philosophe prévenait son époque de l'effondrement d'un monde, le monde platonico-chrétien, la crise environnementale, quant à elle, renvoie plutôt à la fin du monde, de tous les mondes possibles. Parce qu'elle remet en question notre façon d'habiter la planète, la menace d'une crise environnementale initie, plus profondément, une crise écologique. Le premier chapitre du présent mémoire cherche à démasquer la croyance au suprasensible derrière l'institution responsable de la destruction massive de notre environnement, le technocapitalisme. Le second chapitre, quant à lui, identifie la distinction sujet-objet comme ce qui structure ultimement notre relation à la nature. Le dernier chapitre montre enfin comment la pensée du surhomme ouvre notre relation avec la nature entre deux possibilités opposées, parce qu'elle pourrait à la fois rendre le problème plus aigu et mener à un renouvèlement de notre relation avec la nature. En guise d'ouverture conclusive, nous pointons vers ce qui commence à être pensé chez Heidegger avec le Dasein comme étant une radicalisation de la pensée nietzschéenne du surhomme qui puisse dépasser la crise écologique dans la mesure où elle prépare une relation libre à la technique.
