Book excerpt: In this moving and compassionate classic—now updated with new material from the authors—hospice nurses Maggie Callanan and Patricia Kelley share their intimate experiences with patients at the end of life, drawn from more than twenty years’ experience tending the terminally ill. Through their stories we come to appreciate the near-miraculous ways in which the dying communicate their needs, reveal their feelings, and even choreograph their own final moments; we also discover the gifts—of wisdom, faith, and love—that the dying leave for the living to share. Filled with practical advice on responding to the requests of the dying and helping them prepare emotionally and spiritually for death, Final Gifts shows how we can help the dying person live fully to the very end.

Book Synopsis Peace, My Final Gift by : Mary Cardin
Download or read book Peace, My Final Gift written by Mary Cardin and published by . This book was released on 2012-05-01 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mary Cardin had just begun to heal. She had recently separated from her husband, Chris, the man who had been the love of her life for over 30 years. Then, one phone call changed her life forever. The call came in around midnight from the New Mexico State Police. It was September, 2007. Christopher Lyle Cardin was missing. All evidence pointed to suicide. A black Chevy Avalanche with Pennsylvania license plates had been found at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in Taos, New Mexico. The vehicle had reportedly been parked at the bridge for two days, unattended. The truck belonged to Chris. The days and months that followed that phone call would prove to be the test of a lifetime for Mary Cardin. How does a woman survive the not knowing, the search and the discovery of the devastating truth that her husband has taken his own life? In Peace, My Final Gift, the title of this book and the title of her late husband's final work of art, Mary Cardin shares her very personal story of heartache, betrayal, and love. Peace, My Final Gift is a woman's memoir and a story of resiliency. Mary Cardin's experience and her healing process can guide the reader to a renewed sense of faith and certainty, deepening our understanding that even when we are faced with paralyzing loss, we can still find our healing path and walk courageously forward into a magnificent new life. Each one of us travels a unique path and has been assigned a specific life purpose. As we accept Mary Cardin's gift of peace through this writing, her process inspires all of us to look within and discover and follow that purpose. Mary Cardin's story reminds us that as we shift our inner energy, the energy in the world around us can shift. And that a simple thought provides the seed that can grow into our wildest dreams. Peace, My Final Gift is a must read for anyone who aspires to discover a path to peace and transformation or to propel us forward on the path we have already chosen.

Book Synopsis When Is Your Time Up? by : Stephen Paul Tolmie
Download or read book When Is Your Time Up? written by Stephen Paul Tolmie and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-07-26 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In writing this book, I had wanted to explore my thoughts and beliefs as to why I always felt that I was given a number at birth? Was this strictly in my imaginary mind and not to be considered real? Is there anybody else that feels the same way as I do? Was it just pure luck, coincidence, fate, or a guardian angel that was looking after me? Why had I escaped death on several occasions? Was it my own quick thinking process and reaction time that was my salvation? Could it possibly be a higher power imposing HIS will on my body and its destruction time table then quickly interceding? I couldn't for the life of me, figure out why in the eminent fate that was to befall me, that I had escaped it grasp? I couldn't figure out why I had a near death experience, on several occasions, only still to be here? Was not my number up yet? Was there a Divine power controlling my life's time table? I needed to realize if I was unique in this experience or was it happening to others as well, as surely logic and common sense would say that this is the case. In looking into this quest I discovered not only had other people had near death experiences but also other people had actually died. They had came back to life only to tell of the wonderful experience and the site and the people who had passed on previously from their life and how it all seemed so real. Is this the circle of life after death that we all hope for, the connection to eternal life?
