Waiting and watching, soon realising who she was, he was biding his time to make his move.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if there was a secret city at work on finding answers to the survival of humanity? Technologies beyond your imagination. A city expanding, recruiting, and evolving. There is no government, no money, no bosses, institutions, cars, or roads; and age takes on new meaning. This "facity" is one big research product in and of itself, and nothing else quite like it exists on this Earth. This is the city that Erwin Sharp and his family are drawn into on the fringes of a national park. They fall headfirst down the rabbit hole into a world of space probes, cancer cures, and a core myth that defies belief. They soon realize that some doors are only meant to swing one way. This is a parable of trust and hope - a flashing beacon of hope in a world hell-bent on destroying itself. It is ultimately a story of ambition, of owning up to life, showing up and trading up. In a story that is as controversial as it is reassuring, sometimes it is possible to find something you always hoped existed, and in finding it, you confront your own truth as much as that of the world you live in. What is inside the mysterious Hall 8, and what does that have to do with Erwin? And how is water the mechanism of peace or destruction? Thick with adventure, revelations and twists, this story shows how what we accept is only that which we've been conditioned to accept, and why an ancient Mayan prophesy doesn’t actually mean what you think.

Download or read book Wind and Steel written by Lee Kohn and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-03-08 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is my fi rst attempt at writing a romantic, adventure, so give me a break here. With that being said, here we go. We’re living in an ever changing world. The American industry is down to its lowest point since the industry evolution of the late 1800’s. Tractors, T.V.s, automobiles, household wares, clothes, shoes, and thousands of other products are all being manufactured overseas by cheap labor. Manufacturing plants in the U.S. are closing or moving to foreign countries in droves. Unemployment will continue to rise. We can blame our Government or overseas labor cost, but the bottom line is the American people. We’re shooting ourselves in the foot. In the process of trying to save a buck, we buy the cheapest products without regard to its consequences. There was a time we were proud to drive and wear American made products. I can remember when the fi rst Asian motorcycles hit the streets. They can build fi ve bikes for the cost of one American machine, but the very name HARLEY DAVIDSON screams out, ‘Made in the U.S.A.!! And that fact along gives me hope that the American people can come to their senses and start demanding American products made right here in the good old U.S.A. using American labor.

Download or read book Apart from the Crowd written by Anna McPartlin and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2008-08-12 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a little Irish town like Kenmare, there's no need to worry whether people will discover your secrets. They already have. For Mary, that means being remembered for her tragic losses, even if she'd rather get on with her life. For her cousin Ivan, as close as a brother, the gossip is all about how his wife took the kids and ran off with her new lover. For Mary's friend Penny, it's an old romance that didn't work out quite right, and a current affair with a bottle of vodka. Then Sam Sullivan rents the cottage next door to Mary, and within hours the whole town is talking about the film-star-handsome American. When Sam hurts his back while helping his new neighbor and spends the next week confined to a mattress on her floor, gossip runs rampant. But neither Kenmare nor Mary know about the secrets Sam is so successfully hiding.... For Mary's circle of friends, Sam's arrival marks more than one change. And Mary -- whose unlucky history has kept her apart from the crowd much of her life -- has finally found a man with whom she feels she might truly connect. But so long as both are captive to memories they dare not reveal, the past is a barrier that will keep them forever alone. In this powerful novel, Anna McPartlin perfectly captures the drama, the emotion, and the laughter of a small Irish community, for those who fit in -- and those who don't. Apart from the Crowd mixes wit and insight to create an engrossing tale that will keep you reading to the very last page.

Outside in the dark, a figure is making their way towards them. A semi-autobiographical story about the places we leave behind, the indelible marks they make on us, and the unreliable memories we hold onto.

He has been at rock bottom for years, unable to take control of his own life, when a haughty judge and an unanticipated prison sentence give him the final kick in the teeth. With nothing to lose, he flees Madrid and settles in an abandoned house in the mountains of Courel, one of the most remote and beautiful regions of Galicia, with the intention of vanishing from the world. But vanishing is not easy when the past haunts you and the future forces you to face your most stubborn enemy: yourself. Moreover, paradise is not as idyllic as it seems. Despite the apparent friendliness of the locals, Laro soon discovers that he has found himself in the middle of a centuries-old conflict in which legends and reality have blurred boundaries and everyone wants to use him for their own ends... A novel of suspense and adventure and a gruelling account of overcoming personal difficulties in an exceptional setting. An intense portrayal of events in which history is intertwined with the most deeply rooted popular beliefs of Galicia. A JOURNEY INTO THE LEGENDARY PAST OF A LAND OF DAZZLING BEAUTY. ˜ WHAT READERS SAY "One of the best books I have read lately. What I treasure most in reading a book is to be transported to another world and to become an accomplice of the characters that appear in it, and this book has achieved that magic with distinction. A great discovery for me by its author, whom I thank for this journey."(Pecci. Amazon.es) ˜ “Amazing. I started reading and I couldn’t put it down. It has the power to transport the reader to the magical world of legends. It takes you into the very depth of the Galician forests, and you experience the sensation of entering a region that through its geography transports you to the past as graphically as a time tunnel. I was touched by the humanity of the characters and their complex relationship with the everyday and the mystical. I was sure that I would not be disappointed, and I certainly wasn’t.” (Mar Hevia. Amazon.es) ˜ "Superb plot in which contemporary issues, history, nature and emotions intersect.... A passionate narrative that combines historical events and present times, together with the nature and origins of an area that deserves to be better known... as indeed does its author." (Andres V. Amazon.es) ˜ “Fantastic novel … The plot interweaves fictional protagonists with real locations in the Courel area of Lugo, all masterfully interwoven with ancient Galician legends in a thrilling intrigue that picks up pace as the story progresses ... I'm not usually very attracted to witchcraft and other ancestral beliefs, but here they are so well woven with reality, and so justified, that I ended up loving the novel.” (LaMonaMour. Amazon.es)

With her comrades - a moody mole, a dopey white rabbit and an eager-to-please seagull - she sets out on a perilous journey that will take her into the heart of enemy territory. Armed only with a riddle given to her by a friendly squirrel monk, can she crack the code in time? In this gripping novel for young adults (12+) and adults too, K L Knowles draws you into a world where the landscape seems familiar - from the Alver Valley and Priddy’s Hard to Portsmouth Dockyard and Portchester Castle - but is not the world you know.
