In der Duden-Grammatik werden Partikeln als Wörter charakterisiert, „[die] besonders häufig in der gesprochenen Sprache vor[kommen] und dort ganz unterschiedliche Funktionen [erfüllen]“ (Duden 2009: 588). Als ratsuchender Leser wird man danach auf mehrere Unterkategorien verwiesen, welche die Heterogenität der Wortart etwas eindämmen; dennoch gibt es Partikeln die nicht nur einer dieser Kategorien angehören, sondern in mehreren von ihnen vorkommen. Partikeln wurden lange Zeit von der Sprachwissenschaft ignoriert oder diskreditiert und als Flickwörter bezeichnet, die wie Läuse im Pelz der Sprache wimmeln (vgl. Reiners 2004: 241). Was aber unterscheidet nun das Wort 'eben' als Adjektiv von der Verwendung als Partikel und welche Funktionen haben gesprochensprachliche Phänomene wie 'äh' und 'mhm'? In dieser Bachelorarbeit geht es vor allem um die Funktion der Partikeln in der gesprochenen Sprache und die ihr zugrundeliegenden Bedingungen. Zuerst aber wird eine Definition dieser Wortart vorgenommen und im vierten Kapitel die auf der Duden-Grammatik beruhende Klassifizierung vorgenommen, die diese Wortart in trennschärfere Gruppen einteilt. Im dritten Kapitel wird der Werdegang dieser Wortart in der Duden-Grammatik aufgezeigt, was auch die Probleme der Heterogenität widerspiegelt. Um die Funktionen der Partikeln in Gesprächen aufzeigen zu können, wird in Kapitel fünf zuerst auf die Bedingungen gesprochener Sprache eingegangen, um die sich stellenden Aufgaben für Gesprächsteilnehmer herausstellen zu können, die oftmals mithilfe von Partikeln gelöst werden. Im sechsten Kapitel wird die Sichtweise der Construction Grammar und ihre Auswirkungen auf die Behandlung von Partikeln thematisiert. Anhand der starken Anlehnung an Bedingungen und Konzepte der gesprochenen Sprache eignet sie sich sehr gut, um die Heterogenität der Partikeln und ihre dennoch sichere Anwendung durch Gesprächsteilnehmer zu erklären.

Book excerpt: This study investigates the properties of a set of Italian adverbs (among others: pure ‘also’, solo ‘only’, un po’ ‘a bit’) that, in specific contexts of use, modify the speech acts in which they appear. On the one hand, these elements specify the way in which a speech act should be interpreted with reference to the specific interactional context, modifying its illocutionary force. On the other hand, they index presupposed/inferred meanings active in the common ground of the interaction, integrating the speech act in the common ground. These functions closely resemble those of the elements that, especially in the German linguistic tradition, are called modal particles. Drawing on original data from Italian – both from the standard language and regional varieties – the goal of the study is to describe the synchronic features of these elements and to explain the emergence of the modal uses. For this purpose, it jointly employs theoretical notions of pragmatics (speech act theory, inferences in interaction), models of language change (reanalysis and conventionalization) and the descriptive tools of sociolinguistic approaches. Through the presentation of four case studies, integrating corpus and questionnaire data, the present work gives a thorough analysis of the modal functions and the contexts of use of the adverbs under investigation: it explores their role at the semantics/pragmatics interface, it discusses their place in a layered model of grammar and it examines their distribution across different language varieties.

Als Grundlage dient ein Korpus aus Zeitungstexten, die unser Seminar erstellt hat. „Doch aus seiner Haut kann auch ein Bischof nicht.“ Beim Analysieren dieses Satzes werden einige bei dem Wort auch stocken. Weil es sowohl Charakteristika der Adverbien als auch der Partikeln aufweist, ist es keiner Wortart eindeutig zuzuordnen. Die Partikel und das Adverb auch sind homonyme Lexeme, die aufgrund ihrer Eigenschaften schwierig zu differenzieren sind. Aber von welchen Eigenschaften wird ausgegangen und was sind überhaupt typische Kennzeichen der Adverbien und der Partikeln? Lassen sich die Wortarten durch Kriterien klar voneinander abgrenzen und welche Rolle spielt der Kontext der Aussagen bei der Klassifikation der Wortarten? Existieren Subklassen innerhalb der Wortart der Partikeln und welche Funktion übernehmen sie im Satzzusammenhang? Diese Fragen beantwortet die nachfolgende Arbeit. Als Analysemittel dient, ein von den Seminarteilnehmern aufbereitetes Korpus, das Zeitungsartikel zu den Steuervergehen des Ex-Bayern München-Präsident Hoeneß und zum Amtssitz des Limburger Ex-Bischofs Tebartz-van Elst enthält. Am Anfang dieser Arbeit steht die Definition des Skandals. Die gesamten Artikel thematisieren einen der genannten Skandale, weshalb die Merkmale und der Aufbau eines Skandals von hoher Bedeutung für die weitere Klassifikation und Analyse von auch sind. Darauf folgt eine generelle Definition der Partikeln und der Adverbien. Danach analysiere ich das Korpus, wobei ich zuerst das Korpus und meine Vorgehensweise beschreibe. Anschließend folgt die quantitative und qualitative Analyse, bei der ich die gefundenen „auch-Belege“ präsentiere, klassifiziere und interpretiere. Ich differenziere sowohl Adverb von Partikel als auch innerhalb der Gruppe der Partikeln, um die genaue Funktion von auch herauszustellen und ihren Fokus zu ergründen. Hierbei stelle ich Kriterien auf und benenne pro Subklasse je einen typischen Vertreter. Ich behaupte, dass bei der Zuordnung und Differenzierung der Wortarten, dem Kontext eine hohe Bedeutung zukommt, weil die Beziehung zwischen den Äußerungen Hinweise auf die Absicht des Sprechers und die additive oder wertende Bedeutung und Funktion des Wortes gibt. Zum Schluss ziehe ich ein Fazit.

Einleitung: Vorbemerkungen zum Forschungsstand Seit mittlerweile über fünfunddreißig Jahren weisen die Modalpartikeln (auch Abtönungs-/ Einstellungspartikeln genannt) der deutschen Sprache ein nicht abreißendes Forschungsinteresse auf. 1963 wagte sich zunächst Aleksej Kriwonossow auf das Glatteis der Modalpartikeln, indem er seine Doktorarbeit „Die modalen Partikeln in der deutschen Gegenwartssprache“ veröffentlichte. Im Jahr 1969 zog Harald Weydt mit seiner bahnbrechenden Arbeit nach und regte zur verstärkten Auseinandersetzung mit den „Läuse[n] im Pelz unserer Sprache“ an, die der Linguistik stets, wie diese Bezeichnung eindringlich aufzeigt, große Probleme bereiteten, weil sie in formale Grammatikmodelle nicht leicht zu integrieren waren. Aufgrund dessen fristen die Abtönungspartikeln auch heute noch in vielen Grammatiken ein Nischendasein, oft wird eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit dem komplexen Forschungsgegenstand vermieden, weil auf die artikulierten Fragestellungen bisher keine überzeugenden Lösungen und Antworten gefunden werden konnten. So erschien in den neueren Handbüchern für Syntax und Semantik zum Beispiel gar keine Zusammenfassung des Modalpartikelforschungsstandes. Eine beeindruckende Auswahl an Negativwertungen von Partikeln findet sich bei Weydt . Harald Weydt`s Interesse an den Abtönungspartikeln riss dennoch nicht ab. Ihm gebührt das Verdienst, als erster Probleme und Fragen, die im Zusammenhang mit Partikeln stehen, formuliert und dargestellt zu haben. 1983 veröffentlichte er im Rahmen, des von ihm 1981 organisierten Partikelkolloquiums, einen weiteren Band: „Partikeln und Interaktion“ . Darin lassen sich deutlich neue Tendenzen der Partikelforschung erkennen: Der kritische Versuch, eine übergreifende Bedeutung von Abtönungspartikeln herauszuarbeiten (Pauschalbedeutung), die Untersuchung dialektaler Varianten, das Berücksichtigen diachronischer Gesichtspunkte bezüglich der Bedeutungserklärung sowie die Behandlung der Beschreibungsproblematik von Abtönungspartikeln in ein- bzw. zweisprachigen Wörterbüchern und deren Vermittlung im Fremdsprachenunterricht. Denn wohingegen ein Muttersprachler die Partikeln bereits im Kindesalter intuitiv richtig zu beherrschen versteht, auch wenn er sich deren Verwendung im Nachhinein nicht mehr bewusst ist, scheinen viele Ausländer große Probleme dabei zu haben, die Partikeln richtig einzusetzen und sie aufgrund ihrer „Bedeutungsarmut“ gleichsam zu verstehen.
