Book Synopsis Encyclopaedia of Mathematics by : Michiel Hazewinkel
Download or read book Encyclopaedia of Mathematics written by Michiel Hazewinkel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 743 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF MATHEMATICS aims to be a reference work for all parts of mathe matics. It is a translation with updates and editorial comments of the Soviet Mathematical Encyclopaedia published by 'Soviet Encyclopaedia Publishing House' in five volumes in 1977-1985. The annotated translation consists of ten volumes including a special index volume. There are three kinds of articles in this ENCYCLOPAEDIA. First of all there are survey-type articles dealing with the various main directions in mathematics (where a rather fine subdivi sion has been used). The main requirement for these articles has been that they should give a reasonably complete up-to-date account of the current state of affairs in these areas and that they should be maximally accessible. On the whole, these articles should be understandable to mathematics students in their first specialization years, to graduates from other mathematical areas and, depending on the specific subject, to specialists in other domains of science, en gineers and teachers of mathematics. These articles treat their material at a fairly general level and aim to give an idea of the kind of problems, techniques and concepts involved in the area in question. They also contain background and motivation rather than precise statements of precise theorems with detailed definitions and technical details on how to carry out proofs and constructions. The second kind of article, of medium length, contains more detailed concrete problems, results and techniques.

Book Synopsis Intelligent Numerical Methods II: Applications to Multivariate Fractional Calculus by : George A. Anastassiou
Download or read book Intelligent Numerical Methods II: Applications to Multivariate Fractional Calculus written by George A. Anastassiou and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-27 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this short monograph Newton-like and other similar numerical methods with applications to solving multivariate equations are developed, which involve Caputo type fractional mixed partial derivatives and multivariate fractional Riemann-Liouville integral operators. These are studied for the first time in the literature. The chapters are self-contained and can be read independently. An extensive list of references is given per chapter. The book’s results are expected to find applications in many areas of applied mathematics, stochastics, computer science and engineering. As such this short monograph is suitable for researchers, graduate students, to be used in graduate classes and seminars of the above subjects, also to be in all science and engineering libraries.
Book Synopsis Nonlinear Differential Equations by : Pavel Drabek
Download or read book Nonlinear Differential Equations written by Pavel Drabek and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-05-17 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working with mathematical models today requires in-depth knowledge of recent methods developed for solving nonlinear differential equations. Keeping abreast of these developments is the goal of the regular meetings of nonlinear analysts held in the Czech Republic, the most recent of which formed the basis of this volume. The subject addressed by these authors is the theory of nonlinear differential equations, with focus on the quasilinear elliptic differential equations of the degenerate type.
Book Synopsis Mathematical Topics on Representations of Ordered Structures and Utility Theory by : Gianni Bosi
Download or read book Mathematical Topics on Representations of Ordered Structures and Utility Theory written by Gianni Bosi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-23 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an essential review of central theories, current research and applications in the field of numerical representations of ordered structures. It is intended as a tribute to Professor Ghanshyam B. Mehta, one of the leading specialists on the numerical representability of ordered structures, and covers related applications to utility theory, mathematical economics, social choice theory and decision-making. Taken together, the carefully selected contributions provide readers with an authoritative review of this research field, as well as the knowledge they need to apply the theories and methods in their own work.
Download or read book On Preserving written by Peter Schotch and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2009-04-25 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paraconsistent logic is a theory of reasoning in philosophy that studies inconsistent data. The discipline has several different schools of thought, including preservationism, which responds to the problems that arise when human beings continue to reason when faced with inconsistent data. On Preserving is the first complete account of the Preservationist School, which developed in Canada out of the early work of Raymond Jennings, Peter Schotch, and their students. Assembling the previously scattered works of the Preservationist School, this collection contains all of the most significant works on the basic theory of the preservationist approach to paraconsistent logic. With essays both written and rewritten specifically for this volume, the contributors cover topics that include the motivation for the preservationist approach, as well as more technical results of their research. Concise and unified, On Preserving is the ideal introduction to a distinct philosophical field.
Book Synopsis Handbook of the History of General Topology by : C.E. Aull
Download or read book Handbook of the History of General Topology written by C.E. Aull and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first one of a work in several volumes, treating the history of the development of topology. The work contains papers which can be classified into 4 main areas. Thus there are contributions dealing with the life and work of individual topologists, with specific schools of topology, with research in topology in various countries, and with the development of topology in different periods. The work is not restricted to topology in the strictest sense but also deals with applications and generalisations in a broad sense. Thus it also treats, e.g., categorical topology, interactions with functional analysis, convergence spaces, and uniform spaces. Written by specialists in the field, it contains a wealth of information which is not available anywhere else.
