Book Synopsis Three-Dimensional Modeling with Geoscientific Information Systems by : A. Keith Turner
Download or read book Three-Dimensional Modeling with Geoscientific Information Systems written by A. Keith Turner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1992 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geoscientific modelling has some unique requirements. Modern geological applications require increasingly quantitative and accurate rock property characerizations within the three-dimensional subsurface environment. this problem differs from that faced by most other fields due to a variety of technocal and economic constriants. Three-dimensional geoscientific modelling often relies on complex stochastic concepts and thus requires the extraction of information from large multiparameter data sets, and the representation and modification of complex, and uncertain geo-objects of interest.

Book Synopsis Hölder Continuous Euler Flows in Three Dimensions with Compact Support in Time by : Philip Isett
Download or read book Hölder Continuous Euler Flows in Three Dimensions with Compact Support in Time written by Philip Isett and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2017-02-21 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motivated by the theory of turbulence in fluids, the physicist and chemist Lars Onsager conjectured in 1949 that weak solutions to the incompressible Euler equations might fail to conserve energy if their spatial regularity was below 1/3-Hölder. In this book, Philip Isett uses the method of convex integration to achieve the best-known results regarding nonuniqueness of solutions and Onsager's conjecture. Focusing on the intuition behind the method, the ideas introduced now play a pivotal role in the ongoing study of weak solutions to fluid dynamics equations. The construction itself—an intricate algorithm with hidden symmetries—mixes together transport equations, algebra, the method of nonstationary phase, underdetermined partial differential equations (PDEs), and specially designed high-frequency waves built using nonlinear phase functions. The powerful "Main Lemma"—used here to construct nonzero solutions with compact support in time and to prove nonuniqueness of solutions to the initial value problem—has been extended to a broad range of applications that are surveyed in the appendix. Appropriate for students and researchers studying nonlinear PDEs, this book aims to be as robust as possible and pinpoints the main difficulties that presently stand in the way of a full solution to Onsager's conjecture.
Book Synopsis Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Supply Chains by : Hassan Qudrat-Ullah
Download or read book Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Supply Chains written by Hassan Qudrat-Ullah and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-28 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the latest tools, techniques, and solutions that decision makers use to overcome the challenges faced by their sustainable supply chains. Given the ever increasing significance of socio-economic and environmental factors, the management of sustainable supply chains has become a complex and dynamic task. Multiple and conflicting objectives of stakeholders including suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, and retailers add to the complexity of decisions that modern day managers of supply chains face. With the unprecedented technological developments and innovations at hand, sustainability can be maximized for all the activities of a supply chain including: service concept and product design, material sourcing and procurement, manufacturing processes, delivery of the final product, and end-of-life management of the product. Consequently, the sustainable supply chains' problems require a systematic and integrated approach. Modeling and simulation, in general, as well as system dynamics and agent-based modeling, in particular, have the capabilities to deal with the complexity of sustainable supply chain related problems. This book will appeal to professionals and researchers in the field.
Book Synopsis Principles of Three-dimensional Design by : Stephen Luecking
Download or read book Principles of Three-dimensional Design written by Stephen Luecking and published by Pearson. This book was released on 2002 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is a thorough introduction to three-dimensional design: the importance of forms and objects in space. It covers the areas of problem solving: form/plane/space relationships. Of equal importance is its unique coverage of functional, cultural, and spatial contexts that condition the meanings we impart in creating objects. Its underlying goal is to provide a practical and theoretical understanding of how objects and the spaces they occupy shape the physical and perceptual nature of our reality.
Book Synopsis Approximation and Online Algorithms by : Giuseppe Persiano
Download or read book Approximation and Online Algorithms written by Giuseppe Persiano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2005-02-09 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2nd Workshop on Approximation and Online Algorithms (WAOA 2004) focused on the design and analysis of algorithms for online and computationally hard problems. Both kinds of problems have a large number of applications arising from a variety of ?elds. WAOA 2004 took place in Bergen, Norway, from September 14 to September 16, 2004. The workshop was part of the ALGO 2004 event which also hosted ESA, WABI, IWPEC, and ATMOS. TopicsofinterestsforWAOA2004were:applicationstogametheory,appr- imation classes, coloring and partitioning, competitive analysis, computational ?nance, cuts and connectivity, geometric problems, inapproximability results, mechanism design, network design, routing, packing and covering, paradigms, randomization techniques, and scheduling problems. In response to our call we received 47 submissions. Each submission was reviewed by at least 3 referees, who judged the paper on originality, quality, and consistency with the topics of the conference. Based on the reviews, the Program Committee selected 21 papers. This volume contains the 21 selected papers and the two invited talks given by Yossi Azar and Klaus Jansen. We thank all the authors who submitted papers to the workshop and we also kindly thank the local organizers of ALGO 2004.
Book Synopsis Three Dimensions of Learning by : Dr. Carolyn Nooks Teague
Download or read book Three Dimensions of Learning written by Dr. Carolyn Nooks Teague and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2017-10-23 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three Dimensions of Learning: A Blueprint for Learning from the Womb to the School is an informative guidebook designed to help parents and educators become more aware of the ways in which they can stifle or empower the future of the child. It follows the development of the whole child from life inside the womb to life in the school. At every stage the importance of addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states of the child is emphasized. For the first two dimensions of learning, the womb and the home, parents are in charge. The author encourages parents to develop resiliency in their children to help prepare them for life outside of the home. Do you know how to develop resiliency in your child? Have you taught him or her how to deal with bullying? Parents are reminded of developmental milestones and how to use them. Home tests and activities are provided to help parents support normal development as well as recognize the symptoms of possible developmental delays or conditions. The role of the teacher is highlighted during the third dimension of learning. Teachers are encouraged to connect to each child at an emotional level, to seek knowledge of the childs interests, talents and passions. Information that will increase the teachers awareness of hidden disabilities and how to recognize their symptoms is provided. For example, do you have a student that leans to one side when reading or complains about tags in clothing? The author shares science-informed teaching strategies that demonstrate how the brain learns and how being aware of this can change a childs life. Dont miss this opportunity to bolster your understanding of how the mind works and become a better parent, educator and or administrator with Three Dimensions of Learning.
