Book Synopsis A Manual of Paper Chromatography and Paper Electrophoresis by : Richard J. Block
Download or read book A Manual of Paper Chromatography and Paper Electrophoresis written by Richard J. Block and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Manual of Paper Chromatography and Paper Electrophoresis provides a comprehensive discussion of the techniques of paper chromatography and paper electrophoresis. The book is organized into two parts. Part I on paper chromatography provides a readily accessible source for some of the many uses and adaptations of paper chromatography. An effort has been made to write a practical manual in which tried and proved procedures, employing relatively simple equipment and available reagents, are summarized. Part II on paper electrophoresis discusses basic principles and methodology. The emphasis throughout has been on the separation of protein mixtures, particularly blood serum. This reflects the fact that it is in this particular application that paper electrophoresis has thus far not been challenged by paper chromatography, whereas many of the smaller molecules can be resolved equally well or better by the thus far more widely employed chromatographic procedures.
Book Synopsis Bioanalytical Chemistry by : Susan R. Mikkelsen
Download or read book Bioanalytical Chemistry written by Susan R. Mikkelsen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004-02-19 with total page 381 pages. Book Synopsis Zone Electrophoresis by : Ivor Smith
Download or read book Zone Electrophoresis written by Ivor Smith and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 501 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chromatographic & Electrophoretic Techniques, Fourth Edition, Volume II: Zone Electrophoresis presents the methods of zone electrophoresis. This book discusses all the techniques that can be applied routinely. Organized into 17 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the fundamental principle of zone electrophoresis. This text then examines the apparatus in common use for paper electrophoresis and discusses paper electrophoresis at low voltages. Other chapters describe the apparatus that combines several advantages resulting from high voltage paper electrophoresis and thin-layer chromatography. This book discusses as well the advantages of cellulose acetate membrane filter paper as a supporting medium for zone electrophoresis. The final chapter deals with preparative acrylamide gel electrophoresis on a small scale, which may involve either continuous electrophoretic elution or extraction of the RNA from zones cut out of the gel. This book is a valuable resource for biochemists, clinical chemists, clinicians, technicians, biophysicists, pathologists, and medical researchers.

Book Synopsis A Guide to Protein Isolation by : C. Dennison
Download or read book A Guide to Protein Isolation written by C. Dennison and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-04-30 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is a truism of science that the more fundamental the subject, the more universally applicable it is. Neverthelens, it is important to strike a level of "fundamentalness" appropriate to the task in hand. For example, an in-depth study of the mechanics of motor cars would tell one nothing about the dynamics of traffic. Traffic exists on a different "level" - it is dependent upon the existence of motor vehicles but the physics and mathematics of traffic can be adequately addressed by considering motor vehicles as mobile "blobs", with no consideration of how they become mobile. To start a discourse on traffic with a consideration of the mechanics of motor vehicles would thus be inappropropriate. In writing this volume, I have wrestled with the question of the appropriate level at which to address the physics underlying many of the techniques used in protein isolation. I have tried to strike a level as would be used by a mechanic (with perhaps a slight leaning towards an engineer) - i.e. a practical level, offering appropriate insight but with minimal mathematics. Some people involved in biochemical research have a minimal grounding in chemistry and physics and so I have tried to keep it as simple as possible.

Book Synopsis Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins by : G. T. Young
Download or read book Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins written by G. T. Young and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1969 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
