Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Panzer Tracts No. 5-4 - Panzerkampwagen Panther II and Panther Ausf.F - We spent hundreds of hours accurately measuring the surviving Panther II chassis and the Schmalturm and over a thousand hours drawing at full-scale to create as-built drawings for the first time - accurate to the same tight tolerances demanded of the original assembly firms. Extensive measurement of the Panther II chassis prove that its design is completely different than the Panther Ausf.F chassis. We have selected the unique approach of using 1/10th scale drawings to illustrate the smallest details, while six-view (including right side and belly) 1/35th scale drawings are still used for the complete Panther. We also created ?flat-plane? drawings of many components to assist modelers in making accurate parts that would be hard to replicate if only drawn at the angle in which they are actually mounted. This book also includes the development history of these rare Panther variants. This 56 page book is heavily illustrated with over 130 scale drawings and 15 clear/rare large-format photos.

Download or read book Achtung Panzer! written by Heinz Guderian and published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson. This book was released on 2012-12-20 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of the most significant military books of the twentieth century. By an outstanding soldier of independent mind, it pushed forward the evolution of land warfare and was directly responsible for German armoured supremacy in the early years of the Second World War. Published in 1937, the result of 15 years of careful study since his days on the German General Staff in the First World War, Achtung Panzer! argues how vital the proper use of tanks and supporting armoured vehicles would be in the conduct of a future war. When that war came, just two years later, he proved it, leading his Panzers with distinction in the Polish, French and Russian campaigns. Panzer warfare had come of age, exactly as he had forecast. This first English translation of Heinz Guderian's classic book - used as a textbook by Panzer officers in the war - has an introduction and extensive background notes by the modern English historian Paul Harris.
Book Synopsis Happy Odyssey by : Adrian Carton de Wiart
Download or read book Happy Odyssey written by Adrian Carton de Wiart and published by Pen and Sword. This book was released on 2007-11-13 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The legendary British Army officer recounts his experiences in the Boer War and both World Wars in this memoir with a foreword by Winston Churchill. Lieutenant General Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart had one of the most extraordinary military careers in the history of the British Army. His gallantry in combat won him a Victoria Cross and a Distinguished Service Order, as well as an eyepatch and an empty sleeve. His autobiography is one of the most remarkable of military memoirs. Carton de Wiart abandoned his law studies at Balliol College, Oxford, in 1899 to serve as a trooper in the South African War. During World War I he served both in British Somaliland and on the Western Front, where he lost his left eye to a bullet at the Battle of Somme. He went on to serve as a liaison officer with Polish forces, narrowly escaping the German blitz at the outbreak of World War II. He was part of the British Military Mission to Yugoslavia, taken prisoner by the Italian Army, and made numerous attempts at escape. He spent the remainder of the war as Churchill’s representative in China. The novelist Evelyn Waugh famously used Carton de Wiart as the model for his character Brigadier Ben Ritchie Hook in the Sword of Honour trilogy. In this thrilling autobiography, the legendary officer tells his own remarkable story.

This book was released on 2019-12-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The German Sturmgeschütz series of assault guns was a successful and cost-effective range of armoured fighting vehicles; of which some 10,000 were built during the Second World War. Based on the chassis of the Panzer III tank; the turret was replaced by an armoured fixed superstructure fitted with a more powerful 7.5cm StuK 40 L/48 gun. Originally intended as a mobile assault weapon for infantry support; the StuG was constantly modified and saw extensive use on all battlefronts as an assault gun and tank destroyer. Its fixed superstructure with limited-traverse mounting for the main armament was simpler and cheaper to build than the turret of the battle tank; plus its low height meant it was easy to camouflage and conceal. Towards the end of the war; more StuGs were built than tanks. StuGs also saw combat when used by several Axis allies; notably Romania and Finland. They were also exported to Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, and Spain. The Soviet Union gave some of their captured German vehicles to Syria in the 1950s, which continued to use them up until the War over Water against Israel in the mid-1960s. By the time of the Arab-Israeli Six-Day War in 1967; all of them had been either destroyed, stripped for spare parts, or placed on the Golan Heights as static pillboxes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Panzer Tracts No. 2-2 - Panzerkampwagen II Ausf.G, H, J, L, and M development and production from 1938 to 1943. As a result of digging through public and private archives for 38 years, we are able to create this accurate history of the very rare variants from the Pz.Kpfw.II family - the VK 901, VK 903, VK 1301, VK 1303, and VK 1601. Original drawings, documented measurements, and original wartime photographs were used to create four-view drawings of the VK 901 and VK 1601 (printed at 1/35th scale). Over a thousand hours were spent precisely measuring external details of the "Luchs" in order to create as-built drawings of all six views (including right side and belly) with both the VK 1301 and VK 1303 turrets in 1/24th scale. Even the smallest details are clearly discernable in the component drawings at 1/10th scale including the surprise feature of an Orterkompass mounted on the turret roof. This 56 page book is illustrated with over 50 drawings and 41 clean/rare photos.
