This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of organometallic chemistry has emerged over the last twenty-five years or so to become one of the most important areas of chemistry, and there are no signs of abatement in the intense current interest in the subject, particularly in terms of its proven and potential application in catalytic reactions involving hydrocarbons. The development of the organometallic/ catalysis area has resulted in no small way from many contributions from researchers investigating palladium systems. Even to the well-initiated, there seems a bewildering and diverse variety of organic reactions that are promoted by palladium(II) salts and complexes. Such homogeneous reactions include oxidative and nonoxidative coupling of substrates such as olefins, dienes, acetylenes, and aromatics; and various isomerization, disproportionation, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, car bonylation and decarbonylation reactions, as well as reactions involving formation of bonds between carbon and halogen, nitrogen, sulfur, and silicon. The books by Peter M. Maitlis - The Organic Chemistry of Palladium, Volumes I, II, Academic Press, 1971 - serve to classify and identify the wide variety of reactions, and access to the vast literature is available through these volumes and more recent reviews, including those of J. Tsuji [Accounts Chem. Res. , 6, 8 (1973); Adv. in Organometal. , 17, 141 (1979)], R. F. Heck [Adv. in Catat. , 26, 323 (1977)], and ones by Henry [Accounts Chem. Res. , 6, 16 (1973); Adv. in Organometal. , 13, 363 (1975)]. F. R. Hartley's book - The Chemistry of Platinum and Palladium, App!. Sci. Pub!.

Download or read book Metal-catalyzed Cross-coupling Reactions written by François Diederich and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-07-11 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbon-carbon bond forming reactions are arguably the most important processes in chemistry, as they represent key steps in the building of complex molecules from simple precursors. Among these reactions, metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions are extensively employed in a wide range of areas of preparative organic chemistry, ranging from the synthesis of complex natural products, to supramolecular chemistry, and materials science. In this work, a dozen internationally renowned experts and leaders in the field bring the reader up to date by documenting and critically analyzing current developments and uses of metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. A particularly attractive and useful feature, that enhances the practical value of this monograph, is the inclusion of key synthetic protocols, in experimental format, chosen for broad utility and application. This practice-oriented book can offer the practitioner short cuts to ensure they remain up-to-date with the latest developments.

Book Synopsis Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry II, Volume 14 by : Edward W. Abel
Download or read book Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry II, Volume 14 written by Edward W. Abel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-09-10 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry in 1982, studies on the chemistry of molecules with carbon-metal bonds have continued to expand rapidly. This is due to many factors, ranging from the sheer intellectual challenge and excitement provided by the continuing production of novel results, which demand new ideas, through to the successful application of organometallic species in organic syntheses, the generation of living catalysts for polymerization, and the synthesis of precursors for materials employed in the electronic and ceramic industries. These factors led to the publication of the updated Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry II. The original work serves as a basis for new volumes, focusing on organometallic chemistry reported since 1982, with reference back to the original work when necessary. For ease of use the new volumes maintain the same general structure as employed previously but reflect the changes in substance and direction the field has undergone in the last ten years. This book will serve as a pivotal reference point for new work and will function to generate new ideas and perceptions for the continued advance of what will surely continue as a vibrant area of chemistry.
