Book excerpt: In this study two new reactions related to oxo-Molybdenum(V)trispyrazolyl chemistry were investigated. The reactions between [MoTp*(O)Cl2] with o-substituted anilines, H2NC6H4X-o (X= Cl, Br) in the presence of triethylamine in toluene carried out to prepare dinuclear oxo-imido Mo(V) complexes of the type [MoTp*(O)Cl](.-O)[MoTp(Cl)(.NC6H4X-o)]. Surprisingly, the previously reported compound, [MoTp*(O)Cl]2(.-O)], was obtained as the major product of both reactions. The compound [MoTp(O)Cl]2(.-O)] was characterized by 1H-NMR; IR, UV-visible spectroscopy techniques.

Book excerpt: Reaction of the oxo-molybdenum(V) compound, [MoTp*(O)Cl2], [Tp* = hydrotris(3,5-dimetylpyrazol-1-yl)borate] with p-functionalized anilines[NH2C6H4R]( R = OMe, OEt, OPr, NO2) in the presence of Et3N under nitrogen, in toluene solution,afforded the novel oxo bridged oxo(arylimido) molybdenum(V) compounds [MoTp*(O)Cl](m-O)[MoTp*(Cl)(NC6H4R)] ( R = OMe, OEt, OPr, NO2). Under same conditions, the reaction with aniline produced oxo bridged oxomolybdenum (V) compound, [MoTp*OCl]2(m-O).The new compounds were characterized by FT-IR, FAB-Mass, and 1H-NMR spectra. The single crystal X-ray crystallographic determination of [MoTp*(O)Cl](m-O)[MoTp*(Cl)(NC6H4OMe)] was carried out to confirm that there is a Mo-O-Mo bridge and a near linear arylimido group in the structure.

Book excerpt: Im Rahmen der Dissertation wurden unterschiedliche Aspekte der Olefinmetathese mit Molybdän- und Wolframbasierten Katalysatoren untersucht. Zunächst wurde die Eignung von Molybdän Imido Alkyliden N-heterocyclischen Carben (NHC) Komplexen als Initiatoren für die ringöffnende Metathese-Polymerisation (ROMP) erforscht. Durch Einsatz von chiralen, enantiomerenreinen Norbornenderivaten als Monomer konnte gezeigt werden, dass mit diesen Komplexen selektiv trans-isotaktische Polymere hergestellt werden können. Die beobachtete Selektivität ist dabei stark abhängig von der Ligandensphäre. Des Weiteren konnte vollständig hydriertes, syndiotaktisches Polydicyclopentadien hergestellt und erstmals mittels Schmelzspinnen zu Fasern versponnen werden. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt der Dissertation lag auf der Entwicklung neuer Katalysatoren für die Olefinmetathese. So wurde eine neue Syntheseroute zur Herstellung kationischer Wolfram Imido Alkyliden NHC Komplexen entwickelt. Durch Anpassung der Ligandensphäre konnten luftstabile kationische Molybdän und Wolfram Imido Alkyliden NHC Komplexe hergestellt werden, die hohe Produktivitäten in der Olefinmetathese von Substraten mit verschiedenen sauerstoff- und schwefelhaltigen funktionellen Gruppen zeigen. Schließlich konnte der erste Molybdän Oxo Alkyliden NHC Komplex hergestellt und charakterisiert werden.
