This book was released on 2014-05-14 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now published in two volumes to accommodate new chapters on the many advances in understanding and treatment options, this set of volumes represents the definitive reference on inflammatory bowel disease, a spectrum of diseases that is receiving increasing attention as our understanding of the etiological factors increases and diagnostic tools are refined. Basic research accelerated at the beginning of this decade and is now yielding new, more targeted treatments than were available just a few years ago. Volume 1 is on IBD and Ulcerative Colitis, and Volume 2 is on IBD and Crohn's Disease. All areas that were covered in the 2nd edition have been expanded and updated. New sections include the rapidly expanding knowledge of genetics and the role of the intestinal flora and environmental factors in etiology and pathogenesis. Among the 168 chapters, there are 20 on biologic therapies and 30 on surgical management. The consultant/authors clearly state their approach to important issues, such as the duration of immunomodulator and of anti-TNF-a use and the options for managing isolated low-grade dysplasia. A strong focus on the individual patient is woven throughout both volumes, including the benefits and risks of potentially life-altering therapies and surgeries. Entire sections detail concerns about the well-being of each person. This book provides information for health professionals who help both pediatric and adult patients navigate through the lifelong shadow of a chronic, probably genetically determined ordeal.

Download or read book Changing the Global Approach to Medicine, Volume 2 written by Lane B. Scheiber II and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-03-11 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 1 of the series Changing the Global Approach to Medicine introduced the concept of RNA Vector Therapy, the innovative utilization of virus-like devices to deliver RNA molecules to protein deficient cells to provide a directed medical therapy. Volume 2 greatly expands this approach to configuring enhanced virus-like transport devices to deliver various forms of therapeutic materials to specific cell types. Medial Vector Therapy includes the delivery of DNA, chemotherapy and other drug molecules, oxygen, and nutrients as well as various forms of RNA to the cells that require such therapeutic interventions. This ingenious new approach to the management of challenging diseases has the distinct advantage of administering a broad spectrum of therapeutic elements directly to the cells in need, but dramatically limits the side effects by not exposing other cells in the body to the potential harmful effects of such therapies. Also introduced in this text are the innovative concepts the Quantum Gene and the Quadsistor.

Book Synopsis Recent Innovative Trends in Interdisciplinary Research Areas Vol. 2 by : Animesh Kumar Sharma
Download or read book Recent Innovative Trends in Interdisciplinary Research Areas Vol. 2 written by Animesh Kumar Sharma and published by Animesh Kumar Sharma. This book was released on 2023-04-01 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An edited book (2nd Volume) is a compilation of academic chapters produced by several authors to share their perspectives and experiences on a certain subject. The chapters of the edited book, which are written by many writers, go through a peer-reviewing procedure to confirm their quality. The volume editor next manages the uniformity of style and material flow. The chapters in the edited book should be the author's own unpublished original works. If they are carefully planned and edited well, edited volumes can be excellent books. A successful edited book is more than just a longer version of a journal issue with a similar theme; it is also a complete intellectual undertaking that should be treated as such from the outset.

What guarantee do we have that the information we receive online is genuine or not? How many hours should we dedicate to sift through the data available? How could we identify the authenticity of information? Instead of spending hours and hours of time and energy, The Holistic Pine is making it easier for the reader to get authentic information within a short period of time. This is one of the reasons educational insitutions are moving massively towards The Holistic Pine, where you get Authenticity, Brevity, and Clarity. There is still another reason. Book Synopsis Resilient Health Care, Volume 2 by : Robert L. Wears
Download or read book Resilient Health Care, Volume 2 written by Robert L. Wears and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-03-02 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Health systems everywhere are expected to meet increasing public and political demands for accessible, high-quality care. Policy-makers, managers, and clinicians use their best efforts to improve efficiency, safety, quality, and economic viability. One solution has been to mimic approaches that have been shown to work in other domains, such as quality management, lean production, and high reliability. In the enthusiasm for such solutions, scant attention has been paid to the fact that health care as a multifaceted system differs significantly from most traditional industries. Solutions based on linear thinking in engineered systems do not work well in complicated, multi-stakeholder non-engineered systems, of which health care is a leading example. A prerequisite for improving health care and making it more resilient is that the nature of everyday clinical work be well understood. Yet the focus of the majority of policy or management solutions, as well as that of accreditation and regulation, is work as it ought to be (also known as ’work-as-imagined’). The aim of policy-makers and managers, whether the priority is safety, quality, or efficiency, is therefore to make everyday clinical work - or work-as-done - comply with work-as-imagined. This fails to recognise that this normative conception of work is often oversimplified, incomplete, and outdated. There is therefore an urgent need to better understand everyday clinical work as it is done. Despite the common focus on deviations and failures, it is undeniable that clinical work goes right far more often than it goes wrong, and that we only can make it better if we understand how this happens. This second volume of Resilient Health Care continues the line of thinking of the first book, but takes it further through a range of chapters from leading international thinkers on resilience and health care. Where the first book provided the rationale and basic concepts of RHC, the Resilience of Everyday Clinical Work b
