Persons not of the LDS faith may be surprised to learn of doctrinal commonalities with the Latter-day Saints, while LDS readers will no doubt be fascinated by the degree to which they have misunderstood their brothers and sisters of other religious persuasions.

Book Synopsis Jehovah's Witnesses in Europe by : Gerhard Besier
Download or read book Jehovah's Witnesses in Europe written by Gerhard Besier and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2021-08-18 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The history of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Europe has always been one of persecution. This third volume documents this history, turning eastward. For the first time, the circumstances of a religious minority under different political systems can be compared across the continent. The studies gathered here provide insight into the methods of repression used by governments and mainstream churches, the survival strategies of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and their various experiences under Eastern European dictatorships. The initially cordial relationship with Jehovah’s Witnesses that developed after 1990 has steadily reverted to religious discrimination, culminating in Russia’s renewed ban of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2017 and the confiscation of their properties. By violating the universal human right of religious freedom, the same conditions that prevailed in the Soviet era have now returned to “modern” Russia: With severest discrimination and abusing jurisdictional procedures to reach their political aspirations, the State tries to crush a religious community. Against this background, it is all the more important not to turn a blind eye to the situation of religious minorities in Eastern Europe, but instead to take an honest public stance against it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This final book in the series focuses on the atheistic or humanistic type of religions. It would be one of the most valuable for the church in the Western World where anti-god and pro-evolution religions are beginning to explode, for it was written to refute those religions and show how they fail. Unlike most books on world religions, this title dives into the secular humanistic religions. The book starts with God’s Word as the absolute authority. In doing so, God becomes our guide to refute false religions. Humanistic religions are all around us and we need to be able to spot their tenets and oppose them instead of allowing them to subtly infiltrate our Christianity and undermine us from withinWe need to know how to refute these humanistic religionsWe need to know how to effectively present the gospel to people who have been deceived by humanistic religions
Book Synopsis Jehovah’s Witnesses by : George D. Chryssides
Download or read book Jehovah’s Witnesses written by George D. Chryssides and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-01-27 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What would happen if I accepted an invitation to Bible Study from Jehovah's Witnesses? What would attending a Kingdom Hall meeting involve? And if I invited door-knocking Witnesses into my home? This book introduces Jehovah's Witnesses without assuming prior knowledge of the Watch Tower organization. After outlining the Society's origins and history, the book explains their key beliefs and practices by taking the reader through the process of the seeker who makes initial contact with Witnesses, and progresses to take instruction and become a baptized member. The book then explores what is involved in being a Witness – congregational life, lifestyle, rites of passage, their understanding of the Bible and prophetic expectations. It examines the various processes and consequences of leaving the organization, controversies that have arisen in the course of its history, and popular criticisms. Discussion is given to the likelihood of reforms within the organization, such as its stance on blood transfusions, the role of women and new methods of meeting and evangelizing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Book Synopsis JEHOVAH'S KINGDOM by : L.A. Pressnall
Download or read book JEHOVAH'S KINGDOM written by L.A. Pressnall and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-11-30 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE KINGDOM OF GOD HAS COME In the Lord’s Prayer, we acknowledge that our Heavenly Father’s name is holy. We pray for his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Jehovah, our Heavenly Father, is establishing righteousness here on earth, reflecting that in heaven. He has sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to bring true justice for those who walk in God’s ways: the end of cruelty and suffering, the restoration of the earth, and the resurrection of our loved ones. This is also the Day of Reckoning for all people. Jehovah’s Witnesses call themselves by God’s holy name. Therefore, Jehovah himself has measured their teachings and conduct. Those taking the lead are responsible for shepherding God’s people with tenderness and compassion, as Jesus would. Instead, they manipulate the holy scriptures to control people. They also seek material and political security instead of looking to God. In doing these things, they forsake righteousness and deny their faith. They have broken their covenant relationship with Jehovah. Consequently, “their light is no more.” Jeremiah 4:23-31

Book Synopsis Origin of the 'Reorganized' Church and the Question of Succession by : Joseph Fielding Smith
Download or read book Origin of the 'Reorganized' Church and the Question of Succession written by Joseph Fielding Smith and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-06-02 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Origin of the 'Reorganized' Church and the Question of Succession" by Joseph Fielding Smith, Jr. is a doctrinal book. During the summer of 1906 and continuing until the summer of 1907, a number of Reorganite ministers who were engaged in missionary work in Salt Lake City and Ogden, were greatly encouraged by one or two apostates and the local anti-"Mormon" press. Their method of proselyting was of the usual nature, a tirade of abuse and false accusation hurled at the authorities of the Church. Encouraged by the anti-"Mormon" help, they became extremely vindictive in their references to President Brigham Young and the present Church authorities. Their sermons were so bitter and malignant—which has been the character of most of their work from the beginning, in Utah—that they raised considerable protest from many respectable citizens. Even non-"Mormons" declared that in no other community would such vicious attacks be tolerated.
