Book excerpt: Using solar energy for domestic hot water production is a simple option to reduce fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. In Morocco, solar thermal energy for domestic hot water production still has a very discreet penetration, far below the enormous potential linked to the country's available sunshine.The low number of solar installations in buildings is partly due to the highly subsidized conventional energy (LPG and electricity); this offset the solar option benefits in reducing household energy bills. On the other hand, there is a lack of awareness of solar energy opportunities, both by the general public and by actors in the construction sector.Domestic hot water production can represent a significant percentage of the estimated annual energy consumption of 25% in the residential sector. This has led Morocco to launch several projects, namely the PROMASOL program, which has allowed to develop in recent years, a particular activity in the solar sector, centered mainly on the installation of domestic hot water production equipment in individual dwellings. On the other hand, the objectives' development and achievement are still blocked by the factors mentioned above. Besides, this sector's satisfaction in full evolution is currently only done by the importation of these systems, which makes their excessive price.In this directive, a new project was created to overcome this problem; SOL'R SHemsy, a collaborative project between (IRESEN: institute of research in Solar Energy and New Energy) and USMBA (University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah), whose objective is the technological transfer and adaptation. The development and implementation of the project is the subject of this thesis. Whose objective is to propose and design a Moroccan SWH with an accessible and competitive price guaranteeing the best performances. The product must also be adapted to European standards to validate its performance and safety for consumer.The thesis project led this challenge to the end; from the SHEMSY SWH proposal after a range of technical, economic, environmental, and strategic studies, until the realization of the solar water heater in the form of a prototype. The proposed product meets all requirements regarding adaptation to the Moroccan context, economic (sales price), and climate (best performance adapted to local weather conditions). The proposal for this solution is accompanied by a design of the manufacturing process and a financial study presented in the form of a complete business plan based on a relevant study of the Moroccan market. The thesis project was finalized by defining a quality management system necessary for sound production management throughout the proposed process.

Dans ce but, la démarche de travail a consisté, dans un premier temps, à établir le bilan énergétique détaillé d'un chauffe-eau solaire en fonctionnement pour repérer les points faibles du système et cibler l'apport d'innovation. Pour ce faire, l'outil numérique de simulation dynamique TRNSYS a été utilisé. L'analyse du bilan énergétique du chauffe-eau solaire a montré l'intérêt de réduire les niveaux de températures auxquels le système fonctionne. On peut ainsi espérer réduire les déperditions thermiques et donc fonctionner à un meilleur rendement, mais aussi ralentir la dégradation du matériel due aux sollicitations thermiques. En suivant cette voie de recherche, nous nous sommes intéressés au stockage de chaleur latente dans des matériaux à changement de phase. Le principe de fonctionnement thermique de ces matériaux permet d'envisager un stockage de chaleur beaucoup plus dense qu'un stockage de chaleur sensible dans l'eau, dans des plages de températures intéressant directement la production d'eau chaude sanitaire. Ces matériaux peuvent donc servir de stockage de chaleur et de régulateur des niveaux de températures du système. Un ballon de stockage, intégrant des matériaux à changement de phase encapsulés dans des nodules sphériques, a donc été élaboré puis modélisé. La modélisation des transferts de chaleur dans les matériaux à changement de phase repose sur une méthode appelée enthalpique. Des essais en laboratoire sur un prototype expérimental de ce ballon de stockage ont permis de vérifier le bon fonctionnement du modèle numérique. Grâce au modèle développé, on a pu simuler, dans l'environnement TRNSYS, un chauffe-eau solaire intégrant un stockage à chaleur latente et obtenir ainsi son bilan énergétique détaillé. La comparaison de ce bilan énergétique avec celui d'un système classique a permis d'évaluer l'intérêt de l'innovation. Compte-tenu de la complexité du comportement thermique des matériaux à changement de phase et des simplifications i adoptées par le modèle numérique, il faut rester prudent sur l'analyse des résultats de simulation. Toutefois, ceux-ci révèlent des tendances très positives du nouveau système. Le stockage de chaleur latente sert en effet de régulateur thermique du système et réduit sensiblement les niveaux de températures auxquels fonctionne le chauffe-eau solaire. D'un point de vue numérique, les perspectives de travail concernent un perfectionnement du modèle numérique dans sa précision mais surtout dans ses temps de calcul. Ceux-ci sont trop élevés et empêchent une étude numérique complète du système dans des délais raisonnables. Avec un modèle perfectionné, on pourra mener une recherche du meilleur dimensionnement du stockage à chaleur latente permettant d'optimiser les performances du chauffe-eau solaire. D'un point de vue technologique, une étude technico-économique devrait montrer l'intérêt industriel de l'innovation développée qui est basée sur la simplicité et ne devrait pas entraîner de surcoût rédhibitoire

Book excerpt: Les installations de production d'eau chaude solaire collective ayant peu évolué ces vingt dernières années, il paraissait important de rechercher des innovations afin de les améliorer d'un point de vue technico-économique. Nous avons ainsi conçu un ballon de stockage à stratification, fonctionnant aussi bien dans les installations individuelles que dans les installations collectives. La simulation du comportement d'un ballon domestique puis collectif grâce au code CFD Fluent a permis de mettre en évidence l'influence positive de la présence d'injecteurs à plaques sur les entrées solaires ainsi que sur l'entrée d'eau froide. Les résultats expérimentaux, obtenus grâce à la mise en place d'un banc expérimental, ont permis de valider le modèle CFD ainsi que l'utilisation des injecteurs à plaques vis-à-vis de la stratification thermique. Une étude par injection de colorant a également permis d'étudier qualitativement la stratification au sein du ballon. L'objectif du travail étant d'optimiser les installations solaires d'eau chaude collective, nous avons élaboré un modèle avec le logiciel TRNSYS. Il permet de simuler l'ensemble des composants intervenant dans la production solaire d'eau chaude sanitaire de telles installations. La validation du modèle de référence développé a été réalisée grâce à des données expérimentales. En effet, l'installation solaire de la maison de retraite " Les Berges de l'Hyères" située à Chambéry (73) a été instrumentée de façon à obtenir notamment le bilan énergétique aux bornes de chaque composant. La comparaison des résultats expérimentaux et numériques indique la cohérence du modèle, bien que des différences, néanmoins explicables, persistent. Ce modèle a ensuite servi de base de comparaison dans la proposition d'installations innovantes plus performantes sur le plan énergétique. La comparaison des différentes solutions est basée sur le taux de couverture solaire corrigé. Contrairement au taux de couverture défini dans la Garantie de Résultats Solaires (GRS), le taux de couverture solaire corrigé considère l'énergie d'appoint ainsi que l'énergie nécessaire au fonctionnement des auxilliaires. Les conclusions à l'issue de ces simulations sont très satisfaisantes. En effet, les installations solaires collectives décentralisées atteignent des taux de couverture solaire corrigés de 30% et réduisent ainsi sensiblement les rejets de CO2. Nous avons également mis en évidence l'intérêt de faire fonctionner l'installation en débit variable. L'alimentation des pompes grâce à des cellules photovoltaïques est également très prometteuse. Enfin, l'analyse économique montre que les installations à production solaire centralisée et à appoint individualisé, ainsi que les installations décentralisées, permettent d'effectuer des économies non négligeables sur la fourniture de l'énergie d'appoint. Cependant, l'investissement initial est fonction du nombre de ballons mis en place, et par conséquent, les temps de retour sont plus ou moins intéressants.
