Book Synopsis The Encyclopedia of Hollywood Film Actors by : Barry Monush
Download or read book The Encyclopedia of Hollywood Film Actors written by Barry Monush and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2003-04-01 with total page 833 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For decades, Screen World has been the film professional's, as well as the film buff's, favorite and indispensable annual screen resource, full of all the necessary statistics and facts. Now Screen World editor Barry Monush has compiled another comprehensive work for every film lover's library. In the first of two volumes, this book chronicles the careers of every significant film actor, from the earliest silent screen stars – Chaplin, Pickford, Fairbanks – to the mid-1960s, when the old studio and star systems came crashing down. Each listing includes: a brief biography, photos from the famed Screen World archives, with many rare shots; vital statistics; a comprehensive filmography; and an informed, entertaining assessment of each actor's contributions – good or bad! In addition to every major player, Monush includes the legions of unjustly neglected troupers of yesteryear. The result is a rarity: an invaluable reference tool that's as much fun to read as a scandal sheet. It pulsates with all the scandal, glamour, oddity and glory that was the lifeblood of its subjects. Contains over 1 000 photos!
Download or read book Changed written by Ted O. Padgett and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If anyone is in Christ, they become a new creation; the old has passed away and they have been changed. —2 Corinthians 5:17 (RSV) There is no cost to the great God Almighty in the miracles of creation or even in raising the dead. He does these simply because He is God. He speaks, and it is so. At His Word, the universes sprung into existence. But the greatest miracles of God are really not the miracles of glory but the miracles of grace! That is when God saves a person, and they are "changed" and become new creations in Jesus Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:17). The greatest miracle is when God transforms a sinner into a saint! This book is about one of those greater miracles in the story of Ted Padgett. As you read this autobiography, you will read of a miracle in how God "changed" someone and directed his life toward ministry. This story is about a real and genuine miracle of a man who became "heaven born," is "heaven bound," and is "heaven blessed!" This is my story, and may God get any and all the glory from it! Dr. Ted O. Padgett B.A., M.Div., D.Min. January 2019

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During her 70 years on the throne, few got to know the Queen well, but there is one body of work that sheds new light on her thoughts, personality and the issues that really concerned her: the Queen's own speeches. For many years, the Queen's Christmas address was the most-watched programme on television on Christmas Day, and millions regularly tuned in to hear what she had to say. Now, in this wonderful, intimate portrait of Her Majesty, Ingrid Seward uses the Queen's speeches as a starting point to provide a revealing insight into the character of the woman who reigned over us since the days when Churchill was prime minister. Starting with her first-ever broadcast, in December 1940, when the teenaged Princess Elizabeth addressed a war-torn nation, right through the annus horribilis, and on into the 21st century, the book highlights the most important moments in her life and how she responded to them. Based on in-depth research and interviews with many of those who knew the Queen best, this book sheds new light on the life and career of our much-missed monarch. Renowned as one of the most authoritative writers on royal matters, Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty magazine, has written a charming and fascinating portrait that will be cherished by all who read it.

Now it has thankfully become free again, its borders are open and it can be visited, and it is increasingly integrating with the rest of Europe and beyond. Unfortunately, Albania has had its share of problems in the post-communist era; it's a land of destitution and despair, thanks in part to the Albanian mafia, which has turned the country into one of blood-feuds, kalashnikovs, and eternal crises. Yet, Albania is, in essence, a European nation like any other ...

Book Synopsis The Neglected Dimension by : Anissa Rahadiningtyas
Download or read book The Neglected Dimension written by Anissa Rahadiningtyas and published by National Gallery Singapore. This book was released on 2023-07-07 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Neglected Dimension offers an insight into a moment in Southeast Asian modern art when a group of artists from the city of Bandung, Indonesia reimagined Arabic calligraphic writing. At the heart of this effort was an art school at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), which stood at the forefront of experimentations with forms of Islamic spirituality and abstraction. Four artists are featured in this exhibition: Ahmad Sadali (1924–1987), A.D. Pirous (b. 1932), Haryadi Suadi (1938–2016) and Arahmaiani (b. 1962). They represent three generations of artistic training at ITB, as well as distinct approaches to calligraphic abstraction that reflect changing values, identities and conventions in Indonesia from the 1970s to the present. Together, their works highlight how they interacted with global conventions in modern art, evolving ideas around Islamic spirituality, feminist activism and the experience of being Muslim in Indonesia.
