This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2 This book is intended to deepen the reader's connection with the Lord. It reflects on the importance of our dreams and talks about how various biblical persons were given godly insights through their dreams. The first half of the book tells the story of a dream--a violent dream that involved witnessing a senseless murder as well as a futile chase to escape a dark fate, followed by a joyful celebration of God's amazing goodness! The book then breaks down the dream with the help and discernment of a biblical mentor as well as the use of scripture from God's Holy Word, thereby providing a godly analysis. The second half of the book is a thirty-day dream journal intended for the use of the reader. It provides space for the reader's dreams, interpretations, and insights from others.
Book Synopsis Getting Over "Mine!" by : Susan Serena Marie
Download or read book Getting Over "Mine!" written by Susan Serena Marie and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-09-24 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the first things that we learn as children is to take and claim ownership. However, the Bible tells us that God is the Creator of all things, and to the Creator everything belongs. So how do we reconcile that in our minds? How do we live in a godly fashion while still being immersed in the culture of the world? Like with all things, we need to use the Bible to direct our path. We need to look at the Scriptures, and we need to change our behaviors to fall in line with the will of God. And like the Bible tells us, "His commands are not burdensome" (1 John 5:3 NIV). This book is therefore a fun exercise at changing our perspective. Fully loaded with plenty of Scripture, thought-provoking questions and exercises, as well as ample space for journaling, it is a helpful tool for anyone who struggles with the common phrase, "That's mine!"

Book Synopsis Once Upon an American Dream by : Andrew Lainsbury
Download or read book Once Upon an American Dream written by Andrew Lainsbury and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Branded a "cultural Chernobyl" and the "tragic kingdom," the Euro Disney Resort has been on its own thrill ride since opening in 1992. The much publicized version of the Magic Kingdom gave Europeans alcohol-free "mocktails," surly employees, even colors too muted for the Disney image. Facing financial disaster, was it any wonder that Disney execs found themselves wishing upon a star for answers? After so many knee-jerk criticisms of Euro Disney, this book combines firsthand experience and research to shed new light on claims that the park is nothing more than a form of American cultural imperialism. Andrew Lainsbury, a former Euro Disney employee who knows what the park meant to its visitors, goes beyond media bites and academic scorn to examine Europe's love/hate relationship with Euro Disneyland and some of the undiscussed issues surrounding it. Once Upon an American Dream is a story of global capitalism on a grand scale. Lainsbury has plumbed company archives and interviewed key players to give readers the real view from Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty's Castle). He cracks open the Euro Disney controversy to reveal the park not as a tragic experiment in exporting American culture but the result of European efforts to import a popular form of American entertainment. Lainsbury tells how the Walt Disney Company came to build a European park and locate it in France, how political negotiations affected its design and development, how it was promoted to continental audiences, and what caused its widely publicized financial woes before being rescued by a real prince from Saudi Arabia. He reveals what it took to win back the hearts of skeptical Europeans—such as serving wine, selling flashy merchandise, and placating disgruntled workers. Finally, he looks into the magic mirror to speculate on the role of Euro Disney and the Walt Disney Company in the twenty-first century. Ultimately, Lainsbury shows that cultural imperialism is not an exclusively American phenomenon but a global corporate strategy—and that global corporatism, by needing to be responsive to consumers, is so complex that it may not be as monolithic as feared. Once Upon an American Dream is a fairy tale for our times, reminding us that, for all the critical huffing and puffing, the creation and marketing of pleasure is what Euro Disneyland is all about.

Book Synopsis The Neurocognitive Theory of Dreaming by : G. William Domhoff
Download or read book The Neurocognitive Theory of Dreaming written by G. William Domhoff and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2022-10-04 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive neurocognitive theory of dreaming based on the theories, methodologies, and findings of cognitive neuroscience and the psychological sciences. G. William Domhoff’s neurocognitive theory of dreaming is the only theory of dreaming that makes full use of the new neuroimaging findings on all forms of spontaneous thought and shows how well they explain the results of rigorous quantitative studies of dream content. Domhoff identifies five separate issues—neural substrates, cognitive processes, the psychological meaning of dream content, evolutionarily adaptive functions, and historically invented cultural uses—and then explores how they are intertwined. He also discusses the degree to which there is symbolism in dreams, the development of dreaming in children, and the relative frequency of emotions in the dreams of children and adults. During dreaming, the neural substrates that support waking sensory input, task-oriented thinking, and movement are relatively deactivated. Domhoff presents the conditions that have to be fulfilled before dreaming can occur spontaneously. He describes the specific cognitive processes supported by the neural substrate of dreaming and then looks at dream reports of research participants. The “why” of dreaming, he says, may be the most counterintuitive outcome of empirical dream research. Though the question is usually framed in terms of adaptation, there is no positive evidence for an adaptive theory of dreaming. Research by anthropologists, historians, and comparative religion scholars, however, suggests that dreaming has psychological and cultural uses, with the most important of these found in religious ceremonies and healing practices. Finally, he offers suggestions for how future dream studies might take advantage of new technologies, including smart phones.

Book Synopsis Lucid Dreaming The Secret Life of Lucidity by : Fredrick Deacon
Download or read book Lucid Dreaming The Secret Life of Lucidity written by Fredrick Deacon and published by Fredrick Deacon. This book was released on 2015-03-13 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revised and updated. This book is not about the occasional, or accidental lucid dream. This book contains the methods by which a person may practice the art of lucid dreaming. The aim of this work is to reveal the methods by which a person can lucid dream. When I write lucid dream, I mean conscious dream. The Secret Life of Lucidity is the most practical, non subjective, holistic dream work method you will find. This method is not for the obtaining of an occasional lucid dream but of a life long practice. At the end of each chapter I will give you a step in accomplishing lucidity. Each step is meant to build upon the other culminating in a life long practice which is the goal. In most cases, but not all, the chapter and step will be related. Be sure to follow my prescriptions. Wait to be successful before changing the order of the steps, or even customizing your practice to fit who you are, and yes upon becoming familiar with the landscape of consciousness and dreams you will be a master, comparatively, in your own right, and can change things as you see fit.
