This book was released on 2018-10-31 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Observability and Controllability of General Linear Systems treats five different families of the linear systems, three of which are new. The book begins with the definition of time together with a brief description of its crucial properties. It presents further new results on matrices, on polynomial matrices, on matrix polynomials, on rational matrices, and on the new compact, simple and elegant calculus that enabled the generalization of the transfer function matrix concept and of the state concept, the proofs of the new necessary and sufficient observability and controllability conditions for all five classes of the studied systems. Features • Generalizes the state space concept and the complex domain fundamentals of the control systems unknown in previously published books by other authors. • Addresses the knowledge and ability necessary to overcome the crucial lacunae of the existing control theory and drawbacks of its applications. • Outlines new effective mathematical means for effective complete analysis and synthesis of the control systems. • Upgrades, completes and broadens the control theory related to the classical self-contained control concepts: observability and controllability. • Provides information necessary to create and teach advanced inherently upgraded control courses.

Book Synopsis Control Theory for Linear Systems by : Harry L. Trentelman
Download or read book Control Theory for Linear Systems written by Harry L. Trentelman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control Theory for Linear Systems deals with the mathematical theory of feedback control of linear systems. It treats a wide range of control synthesis problems for linear state space systems with inputs and outputs. The book provides a treatment of these problems using state space methods, often with a geometric flavour. Its subject matter ranges from controllability and observability, stabilization, disturbance decoupling, and tracking and regulation, to linear quadratic regulation, H2 and H-infinity control, and robust stabilization. Each chapter of the book contains a series of exercises, intended to increase the reader's understanding of the material. Often, these exercises generalize and extend the material treated in the regular text.

Book Synopsis Stability and Control of Linear Systems by : Andrea Bacciotti
Download or read book Stability and Control of Linear Systems written by Andrea Bacciotti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-02 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This advanced textbook introduces the main concepts and advances in systems and control theory, and highlights the importance of geometric ideas in the context of possible extensions to the more recent developments in nonlinear systems theory. Although inspired by engineering applications, the content is presented within a strong theoretical framework and with a solid mathematical background, and the reference models are always finite dimensional, time-invariant multivariable linear systems. The book focuses on the time domain approach, but also considers the frequency domain approach, discussing the relationship between the two approaches, especially for single-input-single-output systems. It includes topics not usually addressed in similar books, such as a comparison between the frequency domain and the time domain approaches, bounded input bounded output stability (including a characterization in terms of canonical decomposition), and static output feedback stabilization for which a simple and original criterion in terms of generalized inverse matrices is proposed. The book is an ideal learning resource for graduate students of control theory and automatic control courses in engineering and mathematics, as well as a reference or self-study guide for engineers and applied mathematicians.
Book Synopsis Linear Systems and Optimal Control by : Charles K. Chui
Download or read book Linear Systems and Optimal Control written by Charles K. Chui and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A knowledge of linear systems provides a firm foundation for the study of optimal control theory and many areas of system theory and signal processing. State-space techniques developed since the early sixties have been proved to be very effective. The main objective of this book is to present a brief and somewhat complete investigation on the theory of linear systems, with emphasis on these techniques, in both continuous-time and discrete-time settings, and to demonstrate an application to the study of elementary (linear and nonlinear) optimal control theory. An essential feature of the state-space approach is that both time-varying and time-invariant systems are treated systematically. When time-varying systems are considered, another important subject that depends very much on the state-space formulation is perhaps real-time filtering, prediction, and smoothing via the Kalman filter. This subject is treated in our monograph entitled "Kalman Filtering with Real-Time Applications" published in this Springer Series in Information Sciences (Volume 17). For time-invariant systems, the recent frequency domain approaches using the techniques of Adamjan, Arov, and Krein (also known as AAK), balanced realization, and oo H theory via Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation seem very promising, and this will be studied in our forthcoming monograph entitled "Mathematical Ap proach to Signal Processing and System Theory". The present elementary treatise on linear system theory should provide enough engineering and mathe of these two subjects.
Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Linear State Space Systems by : John S. Bay
Download or read book Fundamentals of Linear State Space Systems written by John S. Bay and published by McGraw-Hill Science, Engineering & Mathematics. This book was released on 1999 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spans a broad range of linear system theory concepts, but does so in a complete and sequential style. It is suitable for a first-year graduate or advanced undergraduate course in any field of engineering. State space methods are derived from first principles while drawing on the students' previous understanding of physical and mathematical concepts. The text requires only a knowledge of basic signals and systems theory, but takes the student, in a single semester, all the way through state feedback, observers, Kalman filters, and elementary I.Q.G. control.
Book Synopsis Switched Linear Systems by : Zhendong Sun
Download or read book Switched Linear Systems written by Zhendong Sun and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-30 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Switched linear systems have enjoyed a particular growth in interest since the 1990s. The large amount of data and ideas thus generated have, until now, lacked a co-ordinating framework to focus them effectively on some of the fundamental issues such as the problems of robust stabilizing switching design, feedback stabilization and optimal switching. This deficiency is resolved by this book which features: nucleus of constructive design approaches based on canonical decomposition and forming a sound basis for the systematic treatment of secondary results; theoretical exploration and logical association of several independent but pivotal concerns in control design as they pertain to switched linear systems: controllability and observability, feedback stabilization, optimization and periodic switching; a reliable foundation for further theoretical research as well as design guidance for real life engineering applications through the integration of novel ideas, fresh insights and rigorous results.
