Book Synopsis Oil/water Separator Evaluation by : John Mittleman
Download or read book Oil/water Separator Evaluation written by John Mittleman and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A coalescing, plate-type, oil-water separator was evaluated. One series of tests involved separating Navy Special Fuel Oil from seawater. A permanent emulsion of seawater in NSFO formed in the closed loop experiment set-up, and required termination of these tests. Another series of tests involved separating contaminated Navy Distillate from seawater. These tests were successfully completed. Field experience indicated that the coalescing plate configuration could separate ND out of seawater, producing a water effluent containing approximately 200 ppm oil, and an oil effluent containing less than 5 percent water. However, the reliability of the separator's automatic mode was unsatisfactory. (Author).

Book Synopsis Nanotechnology for Oil-Water Separation by : Nisar Ali
Download or read book Nanotechnology for Oil-Water Separation written by Nisar Ali and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2023-09-21 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanotechnology for Oil-Water Separation: From Fundamentals to Industrial Applications explores how nanotechnologically engineered solutions (modified meshes, carbon nanotubes, functionalized fabrics, textile or hybrid elements for bio-membranes, nanofibrous materials, and many more) can be used to remediate current damage to the environment for a better tomorrow. Design and fabrication of low-cost, effective and environmentally friendly micro/nanomaterials exhibiting strong wettability properties and mechanical and chemical stability are examined, along with current research developments and possible future directions, making this book an essential read for researchers, advanced students, and industry professionals with an interest in nanotechnology and sustainable (bio)technologies. The increasing amounts of industrial substances released by petrochemical, steel or gas-generating plants and food-processing factories into water poses an ever more serious environmental threat. Due to the significant adverse impact on the natural ecosystem, aquatic organisms and human health, the scientific community has made its priority to find sustainable methods to separate oil-water mixtures. Provides an "all-in-one" reference on oil-water separation using cutting-edge, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly nanotechnology-based solutions Sheds light on the proper disposal, management and treatment processes of petroleum wastewater Includes a discussion on new developments and findings, as well as challenges and concerns with an indication of where the field may move in coming years

Book Synopsis Resources of Water by : Prathna Thanjavur Chandrasekaran
Download or read book Resources of Water written by Prathna Thanjavur Chandrasekaran and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2021-02-24 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water is a limited natural resource indispensable for human existence. Water resources exist in the form of glaciers, oceans, rainwater, groundwater, and surface water. Uncontrolled population growth, urbanization, and inefficient management of natural resources have hastened the pace and impact of climate change. Floods and droughts related to climate change occur more frequently, destructing the livelihood of people and disrupting the fragile ecosystem. The need for conservation of available water resources and devising strategies for resource management is very relevant in the current scenario and this book deals precisely with water resources and their management. It provides abundant and relevant information on all aspects related to water resources, including the need for conservation, water management strategies in different parts of the world, the impact of climate change on water management, pollution of water resources and treatment, and so forth. The book will motivate readers and scientists alike to look further and make concerted efforts towards promoting the preservation and conservation of water resources.
