His aunt and grandmother are among some of the more humourous characters in the first section of the book, where the aunt is akin to Adolph Hitler and the grandmother wears cooked spaghetti in meat sauce ever so attractively on her head during a visit from her parish priest. Other characters abound in this delightful book of wisdom and insight into what could possibly be a normal, dysfunctional family, but its not. The parish priest is a loony, grandmothers housekeeper is to be believed, and the mans employer/supervisors are either drunken fools, openly gay or just out and out related to the mob in a mixed web of corruption. The North had a well-established music publishing industry when the war broke out, but the South had no such industry. The importance of music as an expression of the South's beliefs was obvious; as one music publisher said, "The South must not only fight her own battles but sing her own songs and dance to music composed by her own children." Southern entrepreneurs quickly rose to the challenge. This reference book is distinguished by three major differences from previously published works. First, it lists sheet music that is no longer extant (and listed nowhere else). Second, it gives complete lyrics for all extant songs, a rich source for researchers. Other than his music that he shares with the world, he feels that his main purpose is to change his way of living and improve his life condition. I told him that he is in the right place, and you have my full support. I know that I am not an angel, and I am far from being perfect. We all have our good points along with the bad. We are all on the journey back to our true selves in perfection of spirit in our souls. We offer you our insight to show the way for you not to go, or to go.
