Until a messenger arrives from Galaway—a mysterious realm whose gods, the Tuatha de Danann, pleaded with Odin to take their small islands into the Ninth Realm the same as Orkney. The news is dire—Balor, a famed Fomorian sorcerer has his malevolent gaze set on raising the Ogma Stone, an ancient tablet that holds the secrets to the gods’ powers. Balor will stop at nothing to gain the stone and return the magic taken from his people by Odin. To do so Balor must obtain one of the ancient treasures of Galaway, the Retaliator Sword, and use it to shed the blood of a royal offspring—one his sorceress has foreseen the return of. Could Eithan, an orphaned slave who roams the lands with Fenrir the wolf, be the true heir to the Vanirian throne? With the help of a shadow elf named Seeth, Sam and his closest allies must join forces to stop Balor before the Blood Moon returns and Balor has the power to raise the stone; a stone which threatens to cause all-out war between the gods to possess it. Rich with Celtic lore and dark sorcery, The Ogma Stone will take readers on a wild new adventure.

Book Synopsis The Religion of the Ancient Celts by : John Arnott MacCulloch
Download or read book The Religion of the Ancient Celts written by John Arnott MacCulloch and published by . This book was released on 1911 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scant records remain of the ancient Celtic religion beyond some eleventh- and twelfth-century written material from the Irish Celts and the great Welsh document Mabinogion. This classic study by a distinguished scholar, builds not only upon the surviving texts but also upon folk customs derived from the rituals of the old cults. A masterly and extremely readable survey, it offers a reconstruction of the essentials of Celtic paganism: fascinating glimpses into primitive forms of worship involving rites centered on rivers and wells, trees and plants, and animals; and examinations of evidence from Celtic burial mounds to explore beliefs and customs related to the culture of the dead, including rites of rebirth and transmigration.
Book Synopsis Criconematina (Nematoda: Tylenchida) by : Wim M. Wouts
Download or read book Criconematina (Nematoda: Tylenchida) written by Wim M. Wouts and published by Manaaki Whenua Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Criconematina are nematodes, or unsegmented roundworms, belonging to the group Tylenchida. Tylenchids are plant parasitic nematodes with a hardened mouth piece which they use to puncture plant cells, and many tylenchids cause damage to agricultural crops. This is especially true in monocultures where their population numbers can build up to high levels when favoured crops are replanted in quick succession. Criconematina are microscopic and transparent nematodes, generally feeding on tree roots. Their damage is restricted to commercial orchards planted with infested plant material or replanted in infested soil. In their native habitat they generally cause no damage. There are 68 species of criconematids known to be present in New Zealand, and 47 of these are endemic. This fauna covers all 68 species, 16 of which are new to science, and includes detailed descriptions for the female of each species, including morphometrics and illustrations, supplemented by SEM micrographs of morphological details. Details of males and juveniles are given if available. A diagnosis is presented to distinguish each species from other New Zealand species.Locations and plant species associations of each species are indicated and the significance of each species as a taxonomic unit is commented upon. Lists of nematode species present at various localities and associated with individual plant species are given in appendices, and keys to all taxa covered are provided."
