Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since publication of Volume 1 of "Fables from the Funny Farm," I have written a lot of humorous poems mixed in with poems of various types, styles, and interests. This volume is a new compendium of comedy and humor in poetic form of 200 more poems to make you laugh until you cry. My sense of humor has been called contagious and I have been called a real character, an appellation I do not dispute. I have always been an entertainer on the stage and in common life. There are twenty sections with ten poems in each beginning with Coffee and Food, Country Songs to make you laugh out loud, Texans and their humorous escapades, and funny animals both personalized and observed. There is laughing at life and its travails, holiday humor, and then a broad spectrum of fun topics, observations and events. My imagination apparently knows no bounds in a decent and innocent way with double and triple meanings for words, some of which descend to puns, although I prefer the more intellectual twists and turns of comedy. For every person there is a multitude of poems that will be loved and appreciated. I encourage my audience to reread every poem to get the most out of it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of children's illustrated books is located within the broad histories of print culture, publishing, the book trade, and concepts of childhood. An interdisciplinary history, Picturing Canada provides a critical understanding of the changing geographical, historical, and cultural aspects of Canadian identity, as seen through the lens of children's publishing over two centuries. Gail Edwards and Judith Saltman illuminate the connection between children's publishing and Canadian nationalism, analyse the gendered history of children's librarianship, identify changes and continuities in narrative themes and artistic styles, and explore recent changes in the creation and consumption of children's illustrated books. Over 130 interviews with Canadian authors, illustrators, editors, librarians, booksellers, critics, and other contributors to Canadian children's book publishing, document the experiences of those who worked in the industry. An important and wholly original work, Picturing Canada is fundamental to our understanding of publishing history and the history of childhood itself in Canada.

Book excerpt: Herein lies magic. These delightful fables, sprung from the dreams and the vision of an artist, Heather E Geddes, communing with a poet, the writer Gary Bills, will enchant with tales of earth at the beginning of time, of the wandering dead and the whispering ones, of deserts and moon and much else besides. These stories rich in colour, resonant with ancient archetypes, deep in significance, are tales that linger in the mind long after this book is reluctantly put down. Gabriel Griffin. Director, Poetry on the Lake.
