Book Synopsis Plant Nutrition — Molecular Biology and Genetics by : G. Gissel-Nielsen
Download or read book Plant Nutrition — Molecular Biology and Genetics written by G. Gissel-Nielsen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sixth International Symposium on Genetics and Molecular Biology of Plant Nutriti9n was held in Elsinore, Denmark from August 17-21, 1998 and organised by th RiS0 National Laboratory in the year of its 40 anniversary. The 98 participants represented 23 countries and 80 scientific contributions with 43 oral and 37 poster presentations. The symposium addressed the molecular mechanisms, physiology and genetic regulation of plant nutrition. The Symposium brought together scientists from a range of different disciplines to exchange information and ideas on the molecular biology of mineral nutrition of plants. The symposium emphasised: • Bridging the gab between molecular biology, applied genetics, plant nutrition and plant breeding. • The development of methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of nutrition of plants • Quality of plant products. With sessions on: Nitrogen; Phosphorous; Micronutrients; Symbiosis; Membranes; Stress; Heavy Metals and Plant Breeding. In comparison with the previous conferences in this series more emphasis was placed on use of molecular techniques to clarify physiological mechanisms and processes, gene expression and regulation, as well as genetic marker assisted analysis. Significant of molecular genetic markers and other progress was reported in exploitation biotechnologies in breeding programmes.
Book Synopsis Management of Phytonematodes: Recent Advances and Future Challenges by : Rizwan Ali Ansari
Download or read book Management of Phytonematodes: Recent Advances and Future Challenges written by Rizwan Ali Ansari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-29 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book illustrates the currently available strategies for managing phytonematodes. It discusses the latest findings on plant-pathogen-microbiome interactions and their impacts on ecosystems, and provides extensive information on the application of microorganisms in the sustainable management of phytonematodes. This is followed by an in-depth discussion of the application of potential strains of biocontrol fungi, endophytes and actinomycetes to enhance plants’ ability to fend off phytonematode attacks, leading to improved plant health. In conclusion, the book addresses new aspects like the biofabrication of nanoparticles and their application in plant disease management, and presents an extensive list for further reading.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By the year 2050, the world's population is expected to reach nine billion. To feed and sustain this projected population, world food production must increase by at least 50 percent on much of the same land that we farm today. To meet this staggering challenge, scientists must develop the technology required to achieve an "evergreen" revolution-one

Book Synopsis Nitrogen Nutrition in Higher Plants by : R P Singh
Download or read book Nitrogen Nutrition in Higher Plants written by R P Singh and published by Associated Publishing Company. This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nitrogen is the most important mineral nutrient of plants, constituting about 1 to 5% of the matter. The nitrogen management, either by the conventional or by non-conventional approaches will be an important aspect of increasing plant and related products. The present volume examines in its 20 chapters contributed by eminent group of scientists from India, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil, Taiwan, The Netherlands, U.S.A. and Japan the most recent advances of various forms of usable nitrogen compounds in the environment of the plant, their mode of entry inside the plant, assimilation into metabolically important compounds, transport in various parts of the plants and some regulatory aspects of N assimilation, The authors have critically reviewed new advances and directions emerged over recent studies in the area of their expertise. This International edition covers the most field in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Botany, Plant Physiology, Agronomy and other related aspects of Plant Sciences.
Book Synopsis Agri-food Chain Relationships by : Christian Fischer
Download or read book Agri-food Chain Relationships written by Christian Fischer and published by CABI. This book was released on 2010 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Against the background of global market liberalization, increasing consumer awareness and concerns and the spreading of complex technology, new ways to produce, distribute and consume food are evolving. The organization of agricultural production and distribution systems need to adapt, including the development and maintenance of sustainable business relationships between farmers, food processors and grocery retailers. While agricultural value chains have been promoted for decades, more attention is needed on how to enable economic agents to develop lasting relationships and trust within value chains. Using qualitative and quantitative empirical results, Agri-food Chain Relationships offers an insight into the sustainability of current agribusiness relationships and discusses how these may be improved. Theoretical foundations for analysing agri-food chain relations are considered alongside case studies of different countries, food chains and chain stages regarding the issues of sustainable relationships and trust.
Book Synopsis Ecology and Evolution of the Grass-Endophyte Symbiosis by : Gregory P. Cheplick
Download or read book Ecology and Evolution of the Grass-Endophyte Symbiosis written by Gregory P. Cheplick and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2009-02-23 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Endophytic fungi are common and diverse in plants. Yet the nature of their interactions with host plants, and how these interactions cascade upward to communities and ecosystems, is largely unknown. In the first book of its kind, Gregory P. Cheplick and Stanley H. Faeth synthesize existing studies of endophyte-grass symbioses within the context of modern ecological and evolutionary concepts. The authors cover a broad range of topics including the effects of endophytes on herbivory, host growth, physiology, reproduction, and competitive ability in a variety of grasses and environments. Clearly and engagingly written, Ecology and Evolution of the Grass-Endophyte Symbiosis highlights the most essential aspects of symbiosis ecology and evolution while suggesting avenues for future research.
