Book excerpt: This is a story about a deer that visits Nubble Island in Cape Neddick, Maine. It is a cold winter's day and to her surprise, the incoming tide traps her on the island. She is forced to spend the night there. Spotted by a visitor to the nearby park, she becomes famous as her story is broadcast over the Internet, on television stations, and printed in local newspapers. This is her story. "I found it irresistible to write and illustrate this story about a little deer seen running around the island and swimming ashore in the rough ocean. I embellished it through a deer's viewpoint and added her parent's warnings." - Denise F. Brown

Book excerpt: If walls could talk the Anderson cottage on Long Sands Beach would have stories to tell. The Hundredth Time Around is a love story about following your heart, sacrifice, and second chances. Cassidy Quinn is an attorney living in Boston who comes close to making the biggest mistake of her life. Picking up the pieces and retreating back to a town that holds her heart, Cassidy reunites with a summer fling and uncovers a connection exists between them they could never even imagine. In the midst of discovering the secrets and heartbreak that lay deep within her own family's legacy, Cassidy will learn that sometimes when life gives you lemons- it gives you a second (or a hundred) chances to get it right. "This decades-spanning tale of love lost and found ebbs and flows like the tide on the Maine coast that serves as its setting. Cassidy Quinn has known her share of heartbreak, from family tragedy to failed romance. But just when she thinks she's got it all figured out at last, another loss sends her right back to where she started. Now she must unravel the mystery of some intertwined family trees, odd gaps in her memories, and what true love really means." Kim H., Copyeditor, Red Adept Editing

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The wreck of the Nottingham Galley on Boon Island and the resultant rumors of insurance fraud, mutiny, treason, and cannibalism was one of the most sensational stories of the early 18th century. Shortly after departing England with Captain John Deane at the helm, his brother Jasper and another investor aboard, and a skeleton crew, the ship encountered French privateers on her way to Ireland, where she then lingered for weeks picking up cargo. They eventually headed into the North Atlantic later in the season than was reasonably safe and found themselves shipwrecked on the notorious Boon Island, just off the New England coast. Captain Deane offered one version of the events that led them to the barren rock off the coast of Maine; his crew proposed another. The story contains mysteries that endure to this day, yet no contemporary non-fiction account of the story exists. In the hands of skilled storytellers Andrew Vietze and Stephen Erickson, this becomes a historical adventure-mystery that will appeal to readers of South and The Perfect Storm.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ah, the 80's anthem - "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi - the story of Tommy and Gina: two kids fighting the odds as they just try to give it a shot. In this story, however, Tommy doesn't work on a dock, and Gina doesn't work the diner all day. The thing is, every town has their own Tommy and Gina story. This one just happens to be a little more...unique. The seaside town of York, Maine is the backdrop to this tale, taking you from the 80s to the present day. This is not a Chicken Soup for the Soul type story. But, like soup, it contains many ingredients. Start with a 1/2 pot of Tommy - a Bon Jovi hairband-loving burnout. Add a 1/2 pot of Gina- a dressed-in-black, Cure-loving alterna-chick. Mix in plenty of 80's references then bring to a boil and stir. Add a splash of tragedy with a hint of that could never happen, could it? Sprinkle in a doctor who resembles Christopher Walken and who may or may not be in the mafia. Next, season with a little Mexican sidekick, a tablespoon of tenderness, a splash of a naughty Zumba instructor - at this point the mixture will stiffen. Finally, add three full cups of redemption, true love, and happily ever after! Garnish with yoga pants. In all seriousness, this book is a super-silly comedy, but with a big heart, and although it might be slightly more appreciated if you're from the 80's, it's definitely not a requirement. It's a fun, easy read that will keep you smiling and laughing the whole way though
