Book excerpt: Nub was my dad. His name was Lawrence. He is on the right. His brother Theodore is on the left. This picture was taken about 1948. Most of this book was put together to make fiction. This book is about two boys that were brothers growing up about 1910. It has a lot of history, religion and a cook book at the end. Dad gave people nick names, mine was Bow, You pronounce it like Bow in (Bow and Arrows). Lots of names in which were used have been changed, like Bow for my uncle. The picture on the left of the back is of Earl Hamner and I. There isn't and drugs, killing, bed hopping or bad language in it. My other book that are out are (Nub and Bow) and (Between the Tracks).

Book excerpt: To the Bear Archery traditional bow enthusiast and to the archery community at large, this book Bear Archery Traditional Bows: A Chronological History (1949-2015) represents a singular compilation of the chronological history of Bear Archery traditional bow production through the Bear Archery Company's full timeline. This illustrated reference manual not only preserves the history and heritage of Bear Archery traditional bow production since 1949, it serves as a helpful reference to any and all archers interested in collecting and dating their vintage Bear Archery traditional bows. Each chapter covers a detailed chronology of factory production specifications for each specific bow model or group of related models. It includes photos of bow models for almost every year. The best part is this: at the end of each chapter, there is a table that allows readers to search out the characteristics of their bow by year, AMO length, riser material, medallion, limb glass colors, overlay colors, limb tip colors and where applicable, the two-digit serial number prefix.

Book excerpt: This vintage book contains a detailed treatise on the crossbow, being a historical account of its development and evolution throughout the centuries. The crossbow was a revolutionary advancement in ballistic weaponry which was arguably the forerunner to hand-held guns. This volume explores its history and discusses how its design and development varied from country to country. Contents include: "The Slurbow", "The Sixteenth-century Sporting Crossbow", "The Cranequin, and How it was Applied to Bend the Steel Bow of a Crossbow", "The Sixteenth and Early Seventeenth Century Spanish Sporting Crossbow, with a Steel Bow of Moderate Strength which was Bent by a Cranequin", et cetera. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern edition complete with an introductory essay on History of Archery by Horace A. Ford.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Otis Tufton Mason's work: "North American bows, arrows, and quivers", despite over 120 years since its publication, is still relevant today. Its descriptions and high-quality illustrations of bows, arrows and quivers will introduce the reader to the world of weapons used by the original inhabitants of North America. A very big advantage of these descriptions is that they refer to original specimens that were produced for hunting and combat, and not for sale to tourists. The book will interest not only readers interested in the culture of the original inhabitants of North America but also those who are passionate about the traditional bow - just like the one who writes these words.

Contemporary maker said to produce some excellent bows, but I have not yet had an opportunity of examining his work. Poison, Paris. A really magnificent workman.
