Book Synopsis Laser Cladding by : Ehsan Toyserkani
Download or read book Laser Cladding written by Ehsan Toyserkani and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004-08-12 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Capitalizing on the rapid growth and reduced costs of laser systems, laser cladding is gaining momentum, and in some instances replacing conventional techniques of depositing thin films because it can accommodate a great variety of materials, achieve uniform thickness and precise widths of layers, and provide improved resistance to wear and corrosion in the final product. Laser cladding technology also offers a revolutionary layered manufacturing and prototyping technique that can fabricate complex components without intermediate steps. Laser Cladding reviews the parameters, techniques and equipment, process modeling and control, and the physical metallurgy of alloying and solidification during laser cladding. The authors clarify the interconnections laser cladding has with CAD/CAM design; automation and robotics; sensors, feedback, and control; physics, material science, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and powder metallurgy to promote further development and improved process quality of this growing technology. As the first book entirely dedicated to the topic, it also offers a history of its development and a guide to applications and market opportunities. While a considerable part of Laser Cladding is dedicated to industrial applications, this volume brings together valuable information illustrated with real case studies based on the authors' vast experience, and research and analysis in the field to provide a timely source for both academia and industry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of additive manufacturing has seen explosive growth in recent years due largely in part to renewed interest from the manufacturing sector. Conceptually, additive manufacturing, or industrial 3D printing, is a way to build parts without using any part-specific tooling or dies from the computer-aided design (CAD) file of the part. Today, mo

Download or read book The 1991 Version of the Plume Impingement Computer Program. Volume 2 written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-16 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Plume Impingement Program (PLIMP) is a computer code used to predict impact pressures, forces, moments, heating rates, and contamination on surfaces due to direct impingement flowfields. Typically, it has been used to analyze the effects of rocket exhaust plumes on nearby structures from ground level to the vacuum of space. The program normally uses flowfields generated by the MOC, RAMP2, SPF/2, or SFPGEN computer programs. It is capable of analyzing gaseous and gas/particle flows. A number of simple subshapes are available to model the surfaces of any structure. The original PLIMP program has been modified many times of the last 20 years. The theoretical bases for the referenced major changes, and additional undocumented changes and enhancements since 1988 are summarized in volume 1 of this report. This volume is the User's Input Guide and should be substituted for all previous guides when running the latest version of the program. This version can operate on VAX and UNIX machines with NCAR graphics ability. Bender, Robert L. and Somers, Richard E. and Prendergast, Maurice J. and Clayton, Joseph P. and Smith, Sheldon D.
