Book Synopsis Nozzle-Adjuvant Formulation Interactions by : Steve Thurman
Download or read book Nozzle-Adjuvant Formulation Interactions written by Steve Thurman and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of adjuvants were developed to improve herbicide performance when applied through air induction nozzles. A series of research trials were conducted in 2004 and 2005 with clethodim, foramsulfuron, and glyphosate. Efficacy of these herbicides was reduced in over 30 % of all cases when applied through air induction nozzles compared to conventional flatfan nozzles. However, when modified forms of the adjuvants were used, efficacy increased approximately 25 % of cases with glyphosate, 40 % of cases with clethodim, and 90 % of cases with foramsulfuron when using air induction nozzles. A separate series of oil-based adjuvants developed had over 20 % air entrapment whereas conventional oil-based adjuvants had 5 % or less air entrapment when using air induction nozzles. Research conducted in the field in 2005 indicated that these novel formulations may improve herbicide efficacy.

This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years the importance of adjuvants for optimising the activity of agrochemicals has become increasingly recognized. This book is aimed at accumulating the current knowledge of the interactions between adjuvants, agrochemicals and target organisms. It provides results, and ideas for future research and defines new methodological, biomechanistic and systematic approaches which can be implemented to streamline research and development of formulations and adjuvant/active ingredient combinations. The book contains micrographs of leaf surfaces and spray deposits, graphical and statistical presentations, and data on the properties of adjuvants. In particular a case study is presented demonstrating the interactions possible between formulation and adjuvant types.
Book Synopsis Pesticide Formulations and Delivery Systems by : Roger Anthony Downer
Download or read book Pesticide Formulations and Delivery Systems written by Roger Anthony Downer and published by ASTM International. This book was released on 2003 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Held in October of 2001 in Dallas, Texas, the symposium set out to integrate the efforts of formulation chemists, regulators, and those in industry related to sprayer and nozzle manufacture on topics related to the delivery of crop protection agents (pesticides). Sixteen contributions are presented. After the invited paper on continuity and change in U.S. federal pesticide policy, the papers are organized into two sections, first treating formulation ingredients and design, and then discussing delivery strategies. The first deals with such topics as novel polymeric dispersants, clays as microbial carriers, and Alkyl Citrate Ester surfactants. The second explores such issues as bees as delivery agents, roles of surfactants in foliar application of systemic compounds, and related topics. Book excerpt: Studies of Adjuvants involve many scientific fields from basic research of the chemistry, through investigations into physiological effects and environmental impact, to mixture formulation and field use. These important areas are illustrated in these two volumes, which are contributions from the First International Symposium on Adjuvants for Agrochemicals, held in Brandon, Manitoba on August 5 to 7, 1986. A total of 200 participants from 19 countries met to discuss their common interest in adjuvant science, technology, and application. It is the editors hope that these volumes will stimulate interest in and promote a better understanding of the chemical, physiological, and agronomic aspects of adjuvants as they relate agrochemicals. In addition, the revisedAdjuvants for Agrochemicals: A Selected Bibliography of World Literature in the English Language will be a valuable resource for agricultural researchers and other users. We hope that adjuvant research will lead to even safer, more efficient, and more economical use of chemicals in agriculture and forestry.

Book Synopsis Pesticide Application Methods by : Graham Matthews
Download or read book Pesticide Application Methods written by Graham Matthews and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-31 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PESTICIDE APPLICATION METHODS Pesticide Application Methods is the standard work for all those involved in crop protection. This fully revised and expanded edition provides up-to-date information on the different types of application techniques and how they should be used to ensure efficient and effective pest control. The third edition of this excellent book was published more than 10 years ago, since when a number of important developments have taken place. Examples include changes to legislation both in the EU and USA concerning water quality. This has an impact on how spray is applied and, more particularly, how the sprayer is designed to minimise quantities that remain in the equipment when spraying is completed, and in addition inform how and when the sprayer is cleaned. Concern about spray drift has also continued and has led to more research on how to reduce the amount of spray that moves downwind from a treated area. Important new information on this topic is included within the new edition. Professor Graham Matthews has been joined by two new co-authors to increase the breadth and depth of coverage in this updated edition of Pesticide Application Methods. This important new edition is a commercially significant reference tool and will be of great use and interest to all those working in crop protection, including agricultural entomologists and plant pathologists, pesticide scientists, advisors and consultants, large-scale growers, agricultural and horticultural scientists, agrochemical industry personnel including those involved in equipment supply and product formulation. Libraries in government and commercial research establishments, universities and agricultural colleges where agricultural and biological sciences are studied and taught should have multiple copies of this definitive book on their shelves.

Book excerpt: Agrochemical products and adjuvants are of vital importance in agriculture, to protect food and fibre crops from weeds, insect pests and diseases, in order to feed and clothe the growing world population. In recent years there have been increasing pressures to produce agrochemical formulations which have a lower environmental impact and are safer in use. Enormous changes have taken place in the chemistry and technology of agrochemicals over the last twenty years or so and this book provides a timely review of the most important area of technology in the development of new products. This book covers issues around international product quality and safety standards and describes the current and likely future trends which will carry the industry forward into the next millennium. It brings together well known international experts with many years of practical experience from agrochemical companies, consultancies, academic institutions and regulatory bodies. Chemists and technologists involved in developing new or improved agrochemical formulations will find this book an essential reference in the course of their work. The book will also be of interest to those working in research and development departments of raw material suppliers, as a concise review of this important field.
