In the seventeenth millennium, the New Commonality of Humankind is expanding, using newly-discovered faster-than-light travel to rediscover lost worlds colonised in the distant past. It's a time of turmoil, of clashing cultures, as civilisations shudder and collapse before the might of a benevolent empire ten millennia old. In the Solenine Cluster, things are going from bad to worse, as hyper-advanced technologies destabilise a world in chaos. Thaddeus Clay and his SCI Force special ops team are on the trail of the Transmigration Heresy. What they find is something beyond even their imagining - something which could tear the whole Commonality apart... "Thrilling adventure and mystery wrapped up with an inventive, mind-bending look at mankind's future." - Howard Andrew Jones, author of The Desert of Souls "Science fiction like this never dies." - Chris Helton, Dorkland "Complex, gripping... the most original sci-fi you're likely to get..." - G*M*S Magazine "a very exciting and intelligently-written novel that should be on the reading list of every SF fan!" - Stargazer's World "William Gibson-like in the intensity of the ideas it introduces... a heady mixture of action, crunchy science fiction elements and that perennial cyberpunk or transhuman question: what does human mean?" - Shores of Night

How is it used as a communicative tool in music therapy? This comprehensive volume offers new research on these questions by an international team of experts from the fields of music education, music psychology and music therapy. The book celebrates the rich diversity of ways in which learners of all ages develop and use musical creativity. Contributions focus broadly on the composition/improvisation process, considering its conceptualization and practices in a number of contexts. The authors examine how musical creativity can be fostered in formal settings, drawing examples from primary and secondary schools, studio, conservatoire and university settings, as well as specialist music schools and music therapy sessions. These essays will inspire readers to think deeply about musical creativity and its development. The book will be of crucial interest to music educators, policy makers, researchers and students, as it draws on applied research from across the globe, promoting coherent and symbiotic links between education, music and psychology research.

Book Synopsis Paulo Freire Centennial by : Greg William Misiaszek
Download or read book Paulo Freire Centennial written by Greg William Misiaszek and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-08-30 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the occasion of the centennial of Paulo Freire’s birth in September 2021 and of fifty years since the initial publication of his seminal work, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, this book focuses on how scholars continue to reinvent his work across geographic and thematic contexts. Reinvention is specifically used because Freire vehemently opposed simply repeating his work, calling on scholars to instead meaningfully recontextualize it. The book illustrates how without critical, contextual reinvention, teaching cannot lead to praxis – students’ critical reflexivity about how to make a better world and sustainable planet. The chapter authors’ explorations of past, present, and future-looking praxis, including their own, offer foundations, histories, possibilities, challenges, and examples of reinventing Freire’s work. It is work that counters fatalistic teaching that reproduces and justifies oppressions. In Pedagogy of Indignation, Freire stated that students should be educated to “dream of constant reinvention of the world, the dream of liberation, thus the dream of a less ugly society, one less mean-only dream of human beings' silent adaptation to a reality considered untouchable.” Readers will have the opportunity to understand how reinventions of Freire’s work continue to commit to these crucial goals. This book was originally published as a special issue of the journal Educational Philosophy and Theory.
