Book Synopsis Notes and Problems in Number Theory (Volume II) by : Taha Sochi
Download or read book Notes and Problems in Number Theory (Volume II) written by Taha Sochi and published by Taha Sochi. This book was released on 2024-05-23 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second volume of my book " Notes and Problems in Number Theory". We focus in this volume on the type of problems that develop the basic and most essential skills which are required for dealing with number theory problems. We introduced some new topics in the first chapter (i.e. Introduction), while the remaining chapters are largely dedicated to solved problems from the main topics of elementary number theory (which are introduced in V1 or in the Introduction chapter of the present volume). We also introduced the subject of cryptography and computing in number theory in the last two chapters. So in brief, the materials in this volume are largely a mix of applications to the materials of V1 and some theoretical background of new topics as well as applications to the new topics. As in my previous books, my topmost priority in the structure and presentation is clarity and graduality so that the readers have the best chance of understanding the content with minimum effort and with maximum enjoyment. The book can be used as a text or as a reference for an introductory course on number theory and may also be used for general reading in mathematics (especially by those who have the hobby of problem solving). The book may also be adopted as a source of pedagogical materials which can supplement, for instance, tutorial sessions (e.g. in undergraduate courses on mathematics or computing or cryptography or related subjects).

Book excerpt: While its roots reach back to the third century, diophantine analysis continues to be an extremely active and powerful area of number theory. Many diophantine problems have simple formulations, they can be extremely difficult to attack, and many open problems and conjectures remain. Diophantine Analysis examines the theory of diophantine ap

Book Synopsis Quadratic Diophantine Equations by : Titu Andreescu
Download or read book Quadratic Diophantine Equations written by Titu Andreescu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-29 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text treats the classical theory of quadratic diophantine equations and guides the reader through the last two decades of computational techniques and progress in the area. The presentation features two basic methods to investigate and motivate the study of quadratic diophantine equations: the theories of continued fractions and quadratic fields. It also discusses Pell’s equation and its generalizations, and presents some important quadratic diophantine equations and applications. The inclusion of examples makes this book useful for both research and classroom settings.
Book Synopsis Kvant Selecta: Algebra and Analysis, I by : Serge Tabachnikov

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains translated articles originally published from 1970 to 1990 in the Russian journal "Kvant." The influence of this magazine on mathematics and physics education in Russia is unmatched. This volume initiates a collection that represents the Russian tradition of expository mathematical writing at its best. Written by leading Russian mathematicians and expositors, these articles present mathematics in a conceptual, entertaining, and accessible way. This volume is designed for students and teachers who love mathematics, and can expand on local school curriculum subjects. This first volume addresses various topics in number theory.

Download or read book Elliptic Curves written by Dale Husemoller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book divides naturally into several parts according to the level of the material, the background required of the reader, and the style of presentation with respect to details of proofs. For example, the first part, to Chapter 6, is undergraduate in level, the second part requires a background in Galois theory and the third some complex analysis, while the last parts, from Chapter 12 on, are mostly at graduate level. A general outline ofmuch ofthe material can be found in Tate's colloquium lectures reproduced as an article in Inven tiones [1974]. The first part grew out of Tate's 1961 Haverford Philips Lectures as an attempt to write something for publication c10sely related to the original Tate notes which were more or less taken from the tape recording of the lectures themselves. This inc1udes parts of the Introduction and the first six chapters The aim ofthis part is to prove, by elementary methods, the Mordell theorem on the finite generation of the rational points on elliptic curves defined over the rational numbers. In 1970 Tate teturned to Haverford to give again, in revised form, the originallectures of 1961 and to extend the material so that it would be suitable for publication. This led to a broader plan forthe book.
