Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nostradamus (Michel de Nostradame) was born on December 14, 1503 in St. Remy, Provence, France. Nostradamus came from a long line of Jewish doctors and scholars. He is considered by many as one of the most famous and important writers of history prophecies. He is famous mainly for his book 'The Prophecies, ' consisting of quarantine in rhyme. Supporters of the trustworthiness of these prophecies attribute to Nostradamus the ability to predict an incredible number of events in world history, including the French Revolution, the Atomic bomb, the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the attacks of 11 September 2001. However, no one has ever proved that Nostradamus's quarters can provide reliable data for the foreseeable future. Nostradamus had the visions which he later recorded in verse while staring into water or flame late at night, sometimes aided by herbal stimulants, while sitting on a brass tripod. The resulting quatrains (four line verses) are oblique and elliptical, and use puns, anagrams and allegorical imagery. Most of the quatrains are open to multiple interpretations, and some make no sense whatsoever. Some of them are chilling, literal descriptions of events, giving specific or near-specific names, geographic locations, astrological configurations, and sometimes actual dates. It is this quality of both vagueness and specificity which allows each new generation to reinterpret Nostradamus.
Download or read book Nostradamus written by Stéphane Gerson and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2012-10-30 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all know the name Nostradamus, but who was he really? Why did his predictions become so influential in Renaissance Europe and then keep resurfacing for nearly five centuries? And what does Nostradamus's endurance in the West say about us and our own world? In Nostradamus: How an Obscure Renaissance Astrologer Became the Modern Prophet of Doom, historian Stéphane Gerson takes readers on a journey back in time to explore the life and afterlife of Michel de Nostredame, the astrologer whose Prophecies have been interpreted, adopted by successive media, and eventually transformed into the Gospel of Doom for the modern age. Whenever we seem to enter a new era, whenever the premises of our worldview are questioned or imperiled, Nostradamus offers certainty and solace. In 1666, guests at posh English dinner parties discussed his quatrain about the Great Fire of London. In 1942, the Jewish writer Irène Némirovsky latched her hopes for survival to Nostradamus' prediction that the war would soon end. And on September 12, 2001, teenagers proclaimed on the streets of Brooklyn that "this guy, Nostradamus" had seen the 9/11 attacks coming. Through prodigious research in European and American archives, Gerson shows that Nostradamus — a creature of the modern West rather than a vestige from some antediluvian era — tells us more about our past and our present than about our future. In chronicling the life of this mystifying figure and the lasting fascination with his predictions, Gerson's book becomes a historical biography of a belief: the faith that we can know tomorrow and master our anxieties through the powers of an extraordinary but ever more elusive seer.
Book Synopsis Advent of the Antichrist by : K. L. Brady
Download or read book Advent of the Antichrist written by K. L. Brady and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-11-10 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advent of the Antichrist offers a thorough explanation of Nostradamus’s famous 1999 king of terror quatrain. Based on this quatrain, August 11, 1999, is an important date in history. On that day, a total solar eclipse took place over Europe. According to Nostradamus, it was also the date for the coming of the Antichrist. For he will be an eighth king (Revelation 17:11), he is the eleventh horn (Daniel 7:8), and his number is 666 (Revelation 13:18). Author K. L. Brady makes the argument that this is the eleventh hour, beginning with this date on a doomsday clock. History will record that the advent of the Antichrist coincided with the advent of the twenty-first century. Nostradamus writes of a great king whose war will give rise to another great king to come. Who are these great Kings? Advent of the Antichrist presents a new revelation that chronicles the birth and rise to power of the one who will head up an army and conquer the world. It also provides a clear explanation of the events behind the symbolic imagery and the biblical passages concerning the coming apocalypse. It is the time to warn and prepare yourself and those around you for what could take place. The clock is ticking toward a time of darkness and light such as the world has never seen before.

Was he really able to part the mists of time and see into the future? Was it possible that he could predict events and identify people separated hundreds of years from his own time? Or are his predictions just vague and ambiguous enough that they can be made to fit almost any occasion? Perhaps one way to find answers to these questions is to examine the entire life of this remarkable man—not just the small portion that his predictions constitute. Read about the influences of his youth, his training as a physician, and the reasons he began making his predictions. Book Synopsis The Mammoth Book of Prophecies by : Damon Wilson
Download or read book The Mammoth Book of Prophecies written by Damon Wilson and published by Constable. This book was released on 2003 with total page 501 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nostradamus, the most prolific and accurate of all the prophets, is the primary focus of this in-depth look at some of the chillingly accurate prophecies and predictions of catastrophe. Here he is found alongside Mother Shipton, the Brahan Seer, pagan prophecy and police prophets. There is a special focus on three predictions that all too alarmingly came true: the sinking of the Titanic, the 1967 Silver Bridge collapse in West Virginia and the events in New York on 11 September 2002. Consulting psychics is neither as far-fetched nor as rare as it sounds, however reluctant most of us are to admit it. And public interest in prophecy and prophets increases dramatically in times of international tension. In the years leading up to the Second World War, in the months after the Cuban missile crisis, following the first manned landing on the moon, interest in prophecy was at an all time high, as people look for clues to the future. As, indeed, we are still doing today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An illustrated, encyclopedic overview of the prophecies, calendars, and theories that indicate the year 2012 is a threshold of great change for humanity • Looks at the scientific and anthropological evidence for the rare galactic alignment due to occur in December 2012 • Sifts through the catastrophic theories to show what we might really expect in 2012 In December of 2012 the Mayan Calendar’s Great Cycle will come to an end. Opinion remains divided as to whether apocalyptic scenarios of worldwide destruction or utopian visions of a spiritually renewed humanity will prevail after this key date has passed. What is certain, however, is that a rare galactic alignment will occur, one so unique that it is found at the core of many wisdom traditions from around the globe. Geoff Stray has been collecting the vast amounts of data relating to the 2012 phenomena since 1982. Far from confining his research to the Maya, who provide the most prominent predictions indicating this date will herald significant changes for humanity, he has studied the prophetic traditions of other cultures--including the Tibetan, Chinese, Jewish, Ethiopian, and tribal cultures from around the globe--to show the kind of convergence of cosmic purposes happening along a number of parallel tracks. This book offers an extensive study of many modern theories, including Terence McKenna’s timewave zero and Maurice Cotterell’s sunspot research as well as anomalous phenomena such as near death experiences and crop circles. Sifting through all the scientific research and speculation that the year 2012 has inspired, Geoff Stray provides an encyclopedic look at what we might really expect on this pivotal date.
